In this Novation Live session, CALC goes deep into Novation’s Components.
We’ll be exploring how this software works with Launchkey, Launchpads, Bass Station II, Summit, Peak, Circuit Rhythm and Tracks and the SL MKIII controller.

Really disappointed that the Shortcut keys isnt available for the Launchpad Pro...that seems like a huge oversight

I want to use Components with my SL MK3 but I only have my iPad to use where my SL MK3 is located. Will there ever be an IOS version of Components?

Afraid that isn't currently planned but we are capturing requests for this so will certainly add your feedback to the case. Components is web-browser based and utilises Web MIDI. Whilst we're refining Components to work well with mobile web browsers and are making improvements for mobile use, at present iOS Google Chrome does not support Web MIDI so transfer to and from the devices isn't currently possible.

Hello and thanks for the video! Still no update for the SL Mk3? Can we expect something this fall? Summit/peak 2.0 and 2.1 have given me hope for the SL 😏

Short-cut keys look awesome. They can definitely speed up workflows. Video editors have used special keyboards/controllers with similar functionality for years because it makes their workflow faster.

I set an entire page with the most common keyboard shortcut and it feel very satisfy to use! Next step is buy a Launchpad Mini dedicated to this! I would be pleasure to share it with you if you are interested

I think Novation forgot about their flagship controller. We really need firmware update for SL MK3.

Hey i have a question on using the launchley knobs: there is a custom mode to set knobs, but is there a way to set the seven knobs to control more than seven paramaters, in other words provide more custom parameters per knob? Or is this not currently possible?

Using Novation Components, you can configure the Launchkey [Mk3] knobs, pads and faders (49, 61 and 88 key models only) to send custom messages. We refer to these custom message configurations as Custom Modes. Each Custom Mode allows for 1 custom message configuration per knob/pad/fader but, you can save up to 4 different Custom Modes on the Launchkey [Mk3] hardware. This means that you can create and access 4 different custom knob assignments.

No, afraid the Components Custom Keystroke widget isn't available for Launch Control XL. Custom Keystroke assignments are currently only available within Components for Launchpad X, Launchpad Mini [Mk3] and Launchkey 25 [Mk3], 37 [Mk3], 49 [Mk3], 61 [Mk3] and 88 [Mk3] key variants.

Thanks for this video, I have customized my keystrokes, now I have a lot of quick commands in my Launchkey that will save me time for sure. Just one question: I have a Launchkey 49 MKIII as a control keyboard, in your opinion, which version of Circuit would be a better complement, Tracks or Rhythm? And in the long term if my intention is to acquire some synth? Thank you very much

Many apologies for the delay in reply! Both would provide a variety of creative ways of working but if your long-term plan is to expand your rig, adding some hardware synths, Circuit Tracks is a solid choice. As you may know, Circuit Tracks features powerful sample sequencing, 2 internal, polyphonic synthesisers and 2 independent MIDI tracks designed to allow you to easily sequence and control your external hardware and route the audio from them back into the device, to mix with the other elements.

Thanks for your feedback on this. Interesting idea. How would you use such a feature? When working with Circuit Tracks, you can create and store up to 8 custom Templates on the hardware, each with bespoke MIDI assignments for the Macros but we appreciate that this may not be what you had in mind.

@@NovationTV Template works fine with my Microfreak but i rather thought more about the possibility of using it as a customizable generic midi controller. Similar to custom mode at Launchpad to control my DAW.

oh, i found out in ableton, when the tempo set to very slow like 20, the launchkey feels laggy. when i pressed more than 1 key together, its never registered together.

New custom mode updated is great,but for launchpad mini mk3 it's not enough, the big problem is there are not velocity controls on mini mk3 !!

Launchpad Mini doesn't feature velocity sensitive pads. It's geared towards performance and Clip/Scene control. We describe it as being, "Made to Launch". If you're looking for Launchpad with expressive instrument control, you may want to check out Launchpad X and Launchpad Pro [Mk3]

What do you think about the latest flagship Launchpad Pro MK3? We need this Custom Keystroke feature in the Pro Mk3. This is the most expensive Launchpad and this should have all the features.

We love Launchpad Pro [Mk3]! Whilst there are no current plans to deliver this particular feature to Launchpad Pro [Mk3] in the near future, it remains our most powerful 64-pad MIDI grid controller. We will share your interest in this with our Dev team for their consideration.

This feature should absolutely be made available on the pro version of the controllers that were updated with this feature. I shouldn't be losing capability by purchasing the better product.

The shortcuts for adding tracks via the launch key is a huge waste of time. You can do it within the DAW way faster. I'd never waste my time programming the launch key for that function. I'm a big Novation lover but this vid is not very helpful.

Thanks for checking it out! This is actually something that you would only need to do once and can then save on the hardware as a Custom Mode, allowing multiple keyboard key presses to be reduced to one pad press. It also opens up entirely new ways of working with Launchpad, beyond DAWs.
