In this setup, Bass Station II is used as an external FX processor. The drum kit is miked with four microphones: one on the kick drum, one on the snare, one on the tom, and an overhead mic. These microphones are connected to an audio interface, which captures the drum sounds. A mix of these drum signals is then sent from an output on an audio interface to the Bass Station II external input, allowing the synth to process the drum sounds.
Why not make a model with 12 buttons in a row? That way in chromatic mode a row will have a full octave. And even in scale mode make an option for the root note to always be in the 1st column, remaining columns may be left empty.
We appreciate your feedback on this! This feature was something that we added later, after the product was released so it doesn't have a dedicated rotary control.
I have the 49, and I'm loving the fact that I dont have to interact with the keyboard and mouse as much. Slowly learning all of the shift functions. Informative video, thanks!
You should find that you can use the Custom Mode to manually map Chain Selector parameters to your Launchpad Mini [Mk3]. If you give us a call or use Live Chat, we can help you with that today - bit.ly/CallNovationSupport
As Bass Station II is a monophonic synthesiser, it has a single voice architecture and isn't capable of true polyphony. In the v2.5 update we added 'Paraphonic Mode' which makes it possible to control the pitches of the 2 oscillators independently. Using the latest firmware, you can also retune the sub oscillator that is tied to Oscillator 1, making it possible to create 3 note chords. You can update to the latest firmware using Components online with Google Chrome - components.novationmusic.com/bass-station-ii/updates
You can find more information on all of the features, including those that we added in firmware updates, in the User Guide available here - downloads.novationmusic.com/novation/synthesisers/bass-station-ii
Within Logic, have you accessed Project Settings > Synchronisation and ensured that Logic is configured to send MIDI clock to "Novation SL MkIII MIDI"? Have you also ensured that MIDI Clock Rx is On for SL MkIII? Accessed from the 'Global' button.
Thanks for your interest! What kind of ideas did you have in mind? While Summit it still very much a current product of ours and we don't have any news or announcements to share about new products at the moment, we'd be happy to pass along any feedback or suggestions you might have to our Development Team for their consideration.
Great tutorial for beginners 👍I wish i would have watched this video 2 years ago lol I bought the mini mk3 first cause its a good chunk smaller but after playing arround in Ableton i just realized how important the undo function is, specially for a beginner like i was, so i returned it and went with the 25 mk3. After watching this i just realize i could have made a custom pad with an undo keybind. I don't regret it, the 25 is a much better controller so.. 🤣🤣🤣
Yes. Launchkey [MK2] is primarily designed for use with Ableton Live but it can function as a HUI controller when used with Logic Pro. This article explains how to set it up - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4408818692882-Launchkey-MK1-and-MK2-Logic-Pro-Setup
Is your Launchpad Mini in Low Power Mode? Launchpad will not work with iPad if it's in Full-Power Mode, unless a separate powered USB hub is used. Details on how to change power modes can be found in the Advanced Features Guide available from our website here - downloads.novationmusic.com/novation/launchpad-mk1/launchpad-mini-mk1
It isn't possible to add a step-sequencer to Launchpad X or Launchpad Mini using Components. However, with Components, you can create a Custom Mode that turns the pads into various customisable controls, such as QWERTY keyboard controls, faders, chromatic keyboards, scaled keyboards, drum grids, CC buttons, and more. If you're looking for a Launchpad with a built-in step sequencer, you might want to check out Launchpad Pro [Mk3].
Enrique used an inexpensive 'wireless karaoke microphone' by Bonaok here but you should find that a similar mic or field recorder with a headphone output works well.
Automap is no longer required. You can certainly use your Impulse without it. Automap is a software application that we designed to interface your Novation hardware controller with software applications on your computer. When we originally created Automap, controlling software using real buttons, encoders, and sliders was something that was technically complex to achieve and Automap offered a unique way of connecting hardware and software. Now, most major DAWs offer native solutions for this so that any MIDI controller can take control of the software without the need for an additional third-party application like Automap. As a result, Automap has reached the end of support and is no longer receiving updates.
it's a shame that novation doesn't care about this .asl file and won't help customers with their problems .. yes there are many stupid people who didn't do everything according to the instructions and are surprised that it doesn't work for them
Yes, that's right 👍 The Launchkey Mini [Mk3] is the smallest in the range and has different hardware, so it doesn't feature pad aftertouch. However, all other models in the Launchkey [Mk3] range do, including the Launchkey 25 [Mk3], Launchkey 37 [Mk3], Launchkey 49 [Mk3], Launchkey 61 [Mk3], and Launchkey 88 [Mk3].
In Aphex Mode each key is a completely different patch. So the sequencer is just triggering the notes in a certain order to switch between the different sounds.
