This video shows a presentation and two flights of the supercapacitor free flight model 'Farad'. It is built from a aeromodeller free plan by Bob Lee in issue 979. Speaker : jpmesta via Fiverr music by audionautix : audionautix.com/
This has inspired me to revisit super capacitors for FF models, my experiments up until now have been a bit uninspiring. Could you please tell me the all up weight of your model? The Aeromodeller article fails to mention it. I’m looking at 35F super caps, two of which weigh 25g, nearly an ounce. For a 21” span model, that’s quite a lot of dead weight. I can usually build rubber powered models of that size to about the same weight as two super capacitors!
@@rubberfly thank you very much, sorry to keep asking questions but if you could be so kind, could you tell me what the wing chord is? I’m weighing up whether or not the same power setup would be acceptable in a scale free flight model of 19” span.
@@Pete-tq6in You are welcome. I will be happy to answer any questions on the subject. Wing chord 8.4cm. Profile thickness 9.1mm. The profile is probably similar to clark y, it was simply drawn by me.
@@rubberfly thank you again, I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions! I’m now thinking that a 1/2 sized Ken Willard Cavu would work well with this power system. I have the motors in stock and am now waiting for the delivery of some 35F super caps.
