Me and my bros burnt the Japanese Dreamcast version on a CD so we could play it before it got released in the US. We'd stay up until the middle of the night fighting each other. Miss those days.

This game along with Marvel VS Capcom 2 are just a pure distillation of the fighting game community in the early 2000's before Street Fighter IV. Just so goddamn sick! They need to come back.

The character select song always reminded me of a watered-down, yet simultaneously amped up version of Nine Inch Nails', "The Line Begins to Blur."

I’ll give anything to have another fighting game with dope background music with the announcer in the back to hype you up before the showdown… ahhh man bring these times back!!!!!! Side note: I would always pose and mimic my fighters fighting stance before the match started to hype myself up even more 😂😂

Bro the memories just flood in.. this just randomly popped in my head today.. As a kid I would get so hype before I could even select my fighter because of how hype the announcer made me!! “Now, are you ready to get it on?” Man I cannot express the level of excitement I felt hearing those words… such a classic game that I’ll forever love, NO other fighter selection music will touch this and that’s a FACT!!

After the announcement of Terry joins Smash Ultimate, I came back to this video. I hope Sakurai add this character select theme. If they updated announcer's dialogue for Smash Ultimate version, that's even better.
