Capitals & Golden Knights shake hands at end of Stanley Cup Final 

I am a 60 year old man and have been a CAPS fan since the beginning. (Feels like since the beginning of time. LOL) And more than being happy as a CAPS fan that they finally brought home the coveted Cup, I am even more happy for the Great One to finally have his name on the most difficult trophy to obtain in sports. Ovie has fought and been a loyal Capital player, a true frind to his peers on the bench, a true player to his coaches, a true charitable man for the DC area and a true gentleman off the ice. He is loyal in every sense of the word. He is a man that you could go on about for days and merely scrape the top. And to add to that the friendship of Backstrom and The Kuz, and then top it off to one of the most warm hearted and genuine players coach ever, the infamous Trotsky. (Is there a coach that deserves it more that Barry? What a great paleyes coach and a wonderful father and husband.) The sports Gods are shining on the CAPS fans, the players, the coaching staff and the entire Capitals administration. (Don't forget there is a huge support team behind the CAPS, beginning with their proud owner, Ted Leonsis, who is loved by the entire organization.) We all deserve this one. (Did you notice there were no overturned cars, no looted stores and no arrests stemming from the celebration?) Proud CAPS fans. Very proud CAPS fans.

Greatest cup I’ve seen in my young years of watching hockey. That team was clearly the most diversely skilled team. And I’m glad Ovi is still doing great. He deserves all the respect from the hockey league. He’s my GOAT

Despite it all, even though they still lost, I still smiled ear to ear for the Knights. A team that everyone doubted since the very beginning and they made it to the finals in their first year. A team that absolutely dominated in the regular season and even in the playoffs up until the finals where they proceeded to fight like hell. I couldn't imagine a better underdog story. Keep your heads held high, Knights, despite your loss, you're still legends As for the Washington Capitals and especially Ovechkin, I want to apologize. I still despise the team as they're a rival but I couldn't help but feel genuinely happy for them. Congratulations Capitals Congratulations Golden Knights

I've been a Pens fan in one way or another for almost 30 years now. I'm not into hockey now like I used to be. I know many Pittsburgh fans wanted to see Fleury win another cup. However, I was pulling for the Caps. I'll admit that I wanted to see Ovi get a cup. He has been an exceptional player for years now but he seemed to transition into more of a team player over the last few years and he has spent long enough being a doormat for the Penguins in the playoffs. I cannot think of another player right now who deserved a cup win more. I have always liked Barry Trotz as well and feel he has been a great coach with not such great luck for a long time. Solid season and finally a good ending for the Caps.

Happy for Ovechkin and The Capitals. Vegas fans should be excited to you have a very powerful team( pretty much mowed through the western conference). I'm pretty sure McPhee will make some good moves this offseason.

Ovi has deserved the cup for many years, very happy for him! He got so many trophies and awards that it was hard to believe that he had never won a cup! Personally, I wanted the Knights to win, and I predicted they would win the final in 6 games, but the Capitals defied all my expectations, sticking with games where they were behind, like Game 5 today. So much salt towards Vegas but in the end it was a fantastic series and a great story on both sides. Ovi finally got his much deserved cup and the Golden Misfits made the cup final in their first year as a team, proving everyone (including myself) wrong. Great series.

- No longer the 'Choking Dawgs' of hockey! The Washington Capitals FINALLY are at the top of the mountain in the NHL. I'm a Leafs fan but it's great to see a long-suffering team & its fans finally win the Stanley Cup after so many years of gut-wrenching disappointments. Hopefully us Leaf fans get to experience that someday...but it's still a long ways off from happening. I could see the Buds going down a similar path like the Caps...get to the playoffs year after year only to run into obstacles each time. But if that's what it takes for the Leafs to win someday, then so be it. The Caps had to go through it....there were times when we thought they'd never get it done. We thought Ovechkin would go down as one of the best players to not win the Cup. But now he's got that last piece of hardware( along with the Conn Smythe Trophy ), Ovie is a sure-fire Hall-of-Famer now. He was already, but winning the Cup now cements it for sure. Way to go Capitals! And their fans have been through all sorts of playoff misery, now they can celebrate at long last. And enjoy every minute! #ALLCAPS :-)

Holtby saved the series in game 2. Momentum can change on a dime in hockey, and if that puck had gone in, this series could have ended a lot differently.

So can the Vegas Golden Knights make it back to Stanley in let's say the next 4 years? If so, will they be a top 4 team in the west, or fighting for points in the bottom 4? Galant did a historic coaching job, but I'm thinking they will need a couple top tier defenders. And cut Neal, he's got that Pat Marleau, don't show up in the post season thing going on. That truly hurt the Knights, his lack of numbers, trade him for a journeyman scorer/stable pony. Third and fourth line did well but is it good enuff to repeat the success going forward? A couple tweaks here and there and they could be poised to make it back to the western conference finals. Feel like one wrong move tho and this team could be sitting next to AZ yotes tho. (I think anyway) Olly Larsson would look good in a Knights uni, so would ERIK KARLSSON. But Erik's going to Pitt for Tanger and Kuhnackle, fingers crossed.
