Beat cant be from Biggie's Long Kiss Goodnight as it was made way before Biggie's second album. Note Prodigy is only on the hook. He took off his verse after some disagreement. The verse however appeared on Nas' Live Nigga Rap on his It Was Written album. It had some subliminal disses towards Tupac. This was partly the reason why Tupac had problems with Nas and Mobb Deep

The Dogg Pounds "NY NY" was supposed to be a homage to NY. The title comes from New York's Grand Master Flash & the Furious Five song of the same name. When Biggie was at an NY radio station aroubd December of 95, he put out word to the people of NY that Snoop & the Dogg Pound were in NY to shoot a video, this was after the famous 95 Source awards incident (Death row vs NY/Bad Boy). When the Dogg Pound were shooting their video, someone from NY fired shots in the direction of their video shoot angering Snoop & the Dogg Pound. Afterwards, the song became an NY diss song.

Well it is kinda a diss song but since Snoop and the rest of the dog pound didn't drop names New York New York they said they were not going to speak about any specifically in the dog pound in LA LA and that would've happened had they let Prodigy rap verse been on the CD but the producers and record label management said they didn't want any violence transpiring from this song so they to hint on scenes in the video without naming people but everybody else in New York knew what it was about and so did the dog pound and the rest of Los Angeles new but they still had love for the East coast and the most part for the whole New York City that's why nobody else from the West coast got involved just death row people same thing for New York no one got into it
