Bel Canto baritone just doesn't get any better than that. Never has done, not even De Luca, and I don't expect it never will, cetainly during my lifetime. Not sure its even possible. This may be perfection.
In the words of a well respected opera singer on hearing this for the first time when I played it for her...."That's F*****g FANTASTIC!!! That's what that is!!!!" Pretty much makes the point.
There are lists of giant baritones, hard to have the right judgement on volume if not going live, and voice be somewhat different too after recorded. He is certainly the finest with highest artistic IQ!
Such a powerful yet subtle rendition! I have a rendition of this piece on my channel. I would be honored if some of you could go listen to it. All the best to all of you!
Thank You for realizing what I meant to tell you. Never meant to insult you but yet to correct you. If the language I used to reply your comment was too harsh , I apologize.
yes, upon hearing this again I realize that the pitches are all basically accurate. To be clear-I worship this man, but I don't think this his best role. For me, Verdi suits him better. I retract the "flat" comment.
@MrPanzer44 Either you hear it or you don't. Impossible to explain. There are bound to be varying subjective responses, but your use of the word 'horrible' suggest to me that you need a new set of ears altogether.
This is actually quite poor as much as Ilike him in other things; listen to Zancanaro or Capecchi to hear how this should be sung, as basically Cappuccilli is essentially crooning here without much body in his tone,
