The bad thing about cloning caprices into impalas is that a lot of ignorant people try to sell them as impalas so they can make more profit... in other words they’re game is to con people 😡, I respect caprices but I’m a huge impala lover but wouldn’t it be better to upgrade your car as is to your liking? If you have a caprice and like the impala sporty look do as you like but why go through all the trouble in trying to find impala emblems ... at the end of the day true impala lovers can easily tell a true impala from a clone impala ...
I personally wouldn't clone my Caprice or any Caprice into an Impala. I understand why people do though, it is because The Impala SS gets all the attention, like the Buick Grand National takes all the attention away from it's twin sister The Buick T-Type (both very nice cars). I say a nice car is a nice car. Be proud if you have a Caprice in nice shape, and if you have a top of the line model Caprice like the one I have the Caprice Classic LS with a Factory LT-1 and the upgraded suspension and interior it would be a shame to take all that out to make a clone impala. But if you were going to clone a 1995 Black Caprice with gray gut is the best start. but once again I don't condone it.
@@ryanscarobsessions4629 I love the Impala SS. I like the sleeper look with the Caprice everything but the LT-1 and Sport Suspension or towing package. I know of two guys with Impala SSs that were stolen and one was wrecked beyond repair. My Uncle had a 1996 Caprice fully equipped with one difference: blue lights in the grille and a built in remote control for the lights.
Back in 1996 I bought a 9C1 police Caprice brand new off the dealership lot. It was intended to go to a fire department fleet for their supervisors- chiefs/battalion chiefs and such. The fire department took 4 and the fifth one sat on the lot for 10 months. Customers looked at it however they refused to purchase it because it was pretty plain. One gentleman was going to purchase the car however he noticed it did not have the mechanical fan that came with the tow package. The car had the duel electrical fans that the police package caprice and the impala SS LT1 equipped cars came with. The only luxury options were the CD player and the door powered front seats. You can count the dimming mirror and speed adjusted sound. The car was gray and it had the V rated P235/70R15 Goodyear Eagle GT + 4 Pursuit rated tires on the 15 inch steel wheels. The car was very sturdy and very performance oriented for it’s time. However I had to have the intake manifold seal replaced three times! The EGR valve replaced three times! The OPTi spark unit had to be replaced twice and the heater core plugged up four times and did not deliver heat. The alternator also went. When the car hit 83,000 miles I got rid of it. My caprice was a good car for the time. However my 2021 Chrysler 300 C with the 5.7 350 Hemi in stock condition out classes that caprice in all ways. Another 103 hp and better fuel economy with an infotainment screen, Superior stereo acoustic and sound insulation and thermal insulation. Better handling and cornering. The ability to turn the stability control on and off. The Chrysler actually weighs about 100 pounds more too. I have owned the finest and have driven the finest vehicles. The most comfortable and plush automotive ride I have ever experienced was in 1987 Chevy Caprice. Words cannot describe how the car floated like a cloud and absorbed the road so comfortably. It had a ride like a “baby Cadillac”-as a seasoned salesman stated. The salesman told me that in 91 they murdered that car with the design and added way too much weight-400 lbs! They could not sell the car to an average family anymore and only fleet sales and older folks were buying the car. (Before the redesign, average people were buying the car). The 1991 and 1992 model years had the closed rear wheel wells. The car was dead ugly even though it made motor trans car of the year for 1991. The damage was done and sales declined even though they restyled a car in 1993 and added the LT1 engine option in 1994. Besides in the late 1980s all the yuppies who were in debt up to their heads, wanted SUVs. On the graves of the B and D Body platforms, The Chevrolet Arlington assembly plant makes Chevrolet suburban’s and Tahoe’s along with the GMC counterparts. That whole plant was retooled and re-formatted to produce GM SUVs.
Nice story. Thank you for sharing. I do agree with you for the most part. I am just a lover of old cars. I own a 93 Fleetwood, 83 Seville, 90 F-150 and now a 91 Brougham Limousine.
Hey just a thought even now there aren't that many Caprices out there , there are more Impala's so why not just enjoy your Caprice knowing that you actually have the rare car.
TRUE I WISH NOW I BOUGHT A LARGER CRANK WHEN I WAS HAD THE ENGINE REBUILT. (BUT I WAS GETTING MARRIED AT THE TIME AND WAS OVER $2,500 0VER MY ENGINE BUDGET AT THE TIME). SO I JUST HAD TO GET IT ON THE ROAD YOU KNOW.
Dude, Get real!! I'll keep my ' 95CapriceLT1, 9C1, B4U Arlington Tx. Highway Patrol!! I can do 0-65,70, in 1st gear!! 10.5:1 comp. ratio, desert gears!! I've had said auto, since 3-2001. I've no need to change anything!! Bye,Bye Impala!! 1 more bit, It tops over 165!! Guess I'm lucky.
That car does not do 165 unless you modified the engine. Brand new with a brand new engine that car could go about 139 mph on a good day. At 165 mph that car would fly part. The arrow dynamics were not factored for creating at 165 mph car when they were designing the Caprice and the impala. You’re full of shit.
I WILL BE SHOWING THE ENGINE ON MY CAPRICE IN A UPCOMING VIDEO. IT IS NOT STOCK THOURGH. THE IMPALA ENGINE I BELIEVE IS SLIGHTLY MODIFIED AS WELL, BUT THEY SHOULD BE INDISTINGUISHABLE IF THEY WERE BOTH STOCK.
THANKS, I THINK SO TOO. BUT DON'T DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH THEM ON. TO DARK. THEY COME OFF EASILY. I WANT TO SAY I PAID $50 TO $60 FOR THEM AND THAT WAS EITHER ON EBAY OR AMAZON.
