I know the feeling, man. I remember listening to songs like Oxford Comma and A-punk when I was just an 11 year old in 2008. This band has definitely grown and evolved with me
This guy is a genuine poet, their lyrics are such a rich blend of keen insights, always the tension between the good and bad in a world that is continually baffling.
I've always been more of a casual VW listener until recently, so apologies to the real fans if this is basic VW lore! The crunchy Italian opera-style Rs (and potentially Ezra's diction while singing in general) have been keeping me awake lately! Has he ever talked about it? I would greatly appreciate if anyone pointed me to a source if he has. Cheers!
Took my kids to see them Friday night in SLC at Kilby Block Party festival and caught ‘the first evening performance of this song’. Beautiful, classic tune here. They are great live. Closest thing to seeing the Talking Heads live in 1984 that you can see now. New album is a wonderful work of art. Give it a listen if you haven’t yet.
I tried dedicating this song to someone quite publicly on X, in order to try and cheer him up especially after his kingdom came crashing down. I’m not sure if he got that, 🤔😁
I'm a Capricorn and the song is lovely but what's with "capicone, the year that you were bone" ? The guy's from NY/NJ. Same as me. No one says words like that. Sounds like a speech impediment, which hurts my ear a bit every time he does it. lol.
