Capt. Shaye Haver Speaks About Her Development as an Infantry Officer 

he misspoke. There is no way she could have graduated west point in 2002 and spent the next 13 years as a lieutenant. he had to mean she graduated in 2012. spent 3 years a aviation as apache longbow pilot, graduated from ranger school in 2015 and then reclassing to 11A. Infantry officer.

Women should not be allowed to join the infantry. Combat situations require alot of brute strength. The idea of putting women in combat is going to get alot of people hurt or even killed.

So does she lose her pilot classification after becoming infantry?

First off I just want to say that Capt Shaye Haver is an excellent officer and soldier! Now as someone who spent 11 yrs in the US army (2000-2011) with 2 tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan I want to say that I do NOT believe women should be allowed into combat arms units (infantry, armor ect..). Sure there might be one or two like Capt Haver that can pass all the test but having females in combat units can totally destroy the combat effectiveness of that unit. Females bring all of issues into a male dominated unit. First off having a female among a lot of young males can create a lot of problems. Also the female body wears down and can much easier break more often than a males. Females need more attention and other stuff when it comes to their bodies (periods and pregnancy) which can effect a units effectiveness. Lastly even the strongest of women aren't going to be able to carry and keep up with males in an infantry unit. This is going to cause the unit to be less effective on the battlefield. What happens if the enemy are so close that they are going to hand to hand fighting? Even the the strongest and best fighting females are going to struggle against an average male. I'm not against females in the military, I just don't think their role is in combat arms! The WHOLE point of the infantry is close in and destroy the enemy and to be the best at that each unit has to be very effective at their job. Adding females to the infantry doesn't make the infantry any more effective but makes them less effective in most cases! We all know that the ONLY reason females are being allowed into Ranger School and into combat arms units is because of political correctness. The military shouldn't be a place that social experiments are allowed because it will get a lot of good men and women KILLED! But unfortunately the military is being ran by liberal officers and politicians that are more worried about the PC culture and their careers than the men and women that are in the military. GO ARMY!!!

I was 11B and went aviation, then Military Intelligence. . I think she should have stayed aviation because I feel that branch is more rewarding after the Army. There is no skill set after the army that can help a soldier get a job. Not even ranger school unless its law enforcement, private security contractor or weapons instructor. I learned the hard way that carrying a ruck sack, M16, lots of water, changing socks, patrols. Target reference points, setting up parameters, force patrols and wedge patrols will not get me a JOB after ETS or retiring.

Question for the 75th Ranger Regiment Subject matter experts. How is it, that soldiers from units like 101st, 82d, 10th Mtn, 3ID or SFG or other units are allowed to participate in the annual best ranger competition if they are not rangers serving in the 75th Ranger Regiment?

I have a question, why the requirements been watered down so we can be politically correct, and how can you pass a course despite loosing people and needed special treatment. Secondly she isn't a ranger....office training isn't the same as doing the full ranger course (RASP)

This was a great interview. She hit the key points: Be there for the right reasons. Don't give up. Take opportunities when offered and seek them out when not. Focus on the responsibilities of your role. Develop your body, mind, and leadership so that you'll be up to the job. She is a credit to us all. It's kind of amazing how honorable the lower ranks of the US military are. I've counted many servicemembers among my friends and acquaintances over the years, and they hold themselves with a dignity you don't see very often in the general public. Captain Haver is just the latest in a long line great examples of honor and competence. The way she carries herself stands in such a stark contrast to the hateful bigots who flood RU-vid comments and social media to spew their shit about "Women shouldn't [blah blah blah]." I don't know why they take it so personally that women are proving themselves in the military, from jet fighters to infantry units to submarines. Maybe they're afraid. Maybe they've pegged their own self-worth on their belief that they can outperform any woman in anything, and people like Capt. Haver have proved them wrong, and they don't know how to deal with that. But that's their mistake. It proves ~they~ don't have the character and judgment that it takes to succeed in uniform. Their hatred is no reason to hold back people like Haver who are serving our country with a sense of honor, pride, and duty--and I think the military is doing things right if Haver is being truthful when she says that she hasn't encountered much resistance to her presence, and has instead been treated by her peers and chain of command like an individual, who is judged on her abilities rather than her sex. It proves that most keyboard commandos never served.

I have served in the Military for 41 years, and began in the infantry, and later became an Aviation Maintainer. Believe me when I say that for many years, especially being from an older generation, that I was very opposed to women serving in the Army in other than the Medical, or Administrative fields. After many years of serving with female Soldiers in the Aviation Branch, and after much reflection, I have changed my mind and feelings. I have served with some outstanding female Soldiers, and have also served with some dud female Soldiers. I have found that they are no different than male Soldiers in this regard: The percentage of great to poor performing female Soldiers is the same as for the males. I have discovered that, like their male counterparts, the good ones only desire to be treated fairly, and be accepted for who they are. If given a fair chance, most female Soldiers perform very well. There are some fundamental differences in physical abilities as a whole, but there are exceptions among any group of Soldiers. There was one female Sergeant I worked with, who went on to become a Blackhawk Pilot later, who could outperform many of my fellow male Soldiers during the APFT. She was exceptional. I believe that Capyain Haver is such an individual as well. I wish her the best of luck in one of the most difficult and rewarding jobs in the Army-Infantry Company Commander. Listening to her speak, one can tell that she is a leader, and I would be proud to serve under her if I was still in the game.

I can tell you right now a woman wouldn’t have made it through scout training much less ranger school.

I'm sure she is very tough for a woman. I notice that she doesn't have a combat patch, CAB, or CIB. That says quite a bit in these days. Women are at a physical disadvantage when it comes to strength and endurance due to the limits of biology. I think that only .5% of woman can meet the performance levels that the average male is capable of reaching, even after EXTENSIVE training. In other words, it takes a collegiate all American female athlete to meet the same level that a small town high school athlete would meet if he takes his sport seriously. I have read that the females at Ranger school got goes, breaks, and opportunities to recycle that students did not get. It was a social engineering experiment, and the process was diluted by pushing her through and manipulating the process for her.

I remember the 2 female MP officers in Panama who led troops in combat, MP training being a lot like infantry training. As we all know both sex’s have duds and Supertroopers. As an AAS instructor, I saw many Airborne Infantry get smoked by female troops believe it or not. My SL went to SERE school and reported to Rgr Sch 2 days later, he said it was best thing ever cause he ate like a fat cat the whole time , as did his rgr buddy, he had energy whole time cause he knew what plants to eat.

If making the most lethal rifle company is your goal than having an all male squad is what you want, putting a woman in that role is a deterrence to greatness. Think about it, the starting point here is equal opportunity not making the most lethal rifle company, if the first is your goal than you are not interested in winning wars thereby getting Soldiers killed, so shame on the generals who were just interested in keeping their jobs rather than looking out for their men. Look at 54th Massachusetts infantry regiments. It was the first all black Soldier regiment, and they kicked ass. It didn’t take long for people to be like, umm yeah we need more of these kinds of Soldiers. It improved in lethality. The army wasn’t trying to do something nice they saw it added to their lethality. Like the NBA, they saw black people play and they were like well if we are trying to win championships then we need these guys in our squad. No one was going you know what will win us championships? We need to add a female in our team that’s the missing recipe, that’s what’s going to help us beat the other best team in the nation. Ask yourself, and be truthful, if you’re trying to be the most lethal would you have an all man team or not?

If she can carry her rifle and rucksack, and has the ability to command her troops in the battlespace effectively during a firefight, I couldn't care less about what she is. I will respect her for what she does

I am not an American but i will say this though weman in the frontline is a bad idea. Here is my too bit opinion about it. The US army and the British army have wrote the play book of modern war fare through out the first and the second world war and all of this units have a working dynamic that has been forged in the half a century and they have be some of the most effective fighting machines in history and there is a reason for that. Its the standard they have set for anyman who wants an honor to wear those Uniform. It will be unfortunate if in any way of the slightest they have droped their standard in order to accommodate some political correctness, if that happens the next majore war will be a rude awakening. Ranger batalion is no joke its there to deal with what the Russian and the Chinese have to offer.

Seeing this was a huge relief in my life. I have deeply regretted getting out since 2010. This just changed my mind and made me extremely happy that I’m not dealing with this kind of bullshit on a day to day basis. No Effin way I would want to serve under a female infantry officer with a ranger tab.

I don't have faith in those 13" arms and tiny legs, shoulders, neck And I say this as a current 110 kg raw state record holder who walks 14 miles/day on 3 hours sleep...year after year... frequently carrying 160+ pounds- 80+ in each paw- at 225-245 lbs
