@@jonathannavarez9657 nope that's not how it works mate if you look at thor he also did some things even after being worthy but he still lifts the hammer so that doesn't make sense
If you pay attention in AOU you can see that as soon as Mjolnir moves Cap lets go and the handle slides through his hands. His facial expressions and body language make it obvious he's not actually trying, especially when he throws his hands in the air and does the "you got me" smile at the end. Steve Rogers is a modest guy and didn't want to embarrass his friend. Thor saying "I knew it!" = you didn't fool me. Cap even has the shit eating grin on his face here when he catches it lol.
@@JESSROCKEDChannelHe's right, they're too focused now on portraying minorities or stupid problems than actually showing the beauty and struggle of all of humanity as a whole against itself and the rest of the universe.
@@AdarshMishra-j4j I'm literally middle eastern, I don't care about my people or country being represented, I just want to watch a good movie without forceful inserts of minorities.
Yup, like many of the comments are saying. He was already worthy. The writers were asked by some fan theorists about this. The theory was that Cap _could have_ lifted the hammer that day when they all tried to lift it. He felt it budge and stopped because he didn't want to show up Thor. The writers confirmed that this was in fact what they intended.
I thought so. Cuz with Mjonir it's pretty much all or nothing. Either you can lift it or you can't. If you can't then it won't move at all. We saw this when the other Avengers tried to lift it in that same scene. They all tried and it didn't budge at all. Same thing in Thor 1. All the people tried to lift it and nothing, and even unworthy Thor tried and it didn't move. But Cap tried and it budged, so that means he could lift it then because he was worthy. If he couldn't lift it because he was unworthy then it wouldn't have budged at all. There is no 'kinda worthy' with Mjonir where it will budge if you're almost worthy or whatever.
its to show his humbleness kinda in away. Had he lifted it up that night and showed up to Thor, it could have created a different dynamic between them. It could have created a riff, like this guy thinks hes better than me. Remember Thor was still pretty immature during this time, He see humans as not equal as asgardians. Imagine what that would do to his pride had a human lifted the hammer. Cap always looked out for the best for the group thats what makes him the leader. He knows humility. Albeit, Vision also lifted the hammer infront of everyone, but he doesnt have that kind of relationship with the rest of the guys as Cap and Thor had.
Imma just add my opinion. In age of ultron, Cap moves the hammer because yes, he was always worthy but Mjolnir won't let itself be lifted for the mere entertainment of other people. In drastic times however, Mjolnir allowed itself to be lifted by Cap because of the world ending situation they have on their hands. In all technicality, anyone can lift Mjolnir in the right and given circumstances.
It's an awesome moment. We knew, since AOU that he could wield Mjolnir. He didn't lift it then, out of respect for his friend, as he knew it would hurt Thor's ego. Cap has a good heart.
Thor saying he knew it is beyond heartwarming. His first reaction isn't even "thanks for saving my life, bud" it's pure joy at seeing his best friend wield the one thing nobody else is able to wield.
its how it happened in the comic too thor was seperated from his hammer because he was being dog piled .cap retrieved it for him not realizing that only those who were deemed worthy could pick it up .
That was the best movie theater experience I’ve ever been in. I’ve heard the stories of people reacting like this to Star Wars. But I’d never EVER in my life seen an entire theater actually react to what’s on the screen. It was years of buildup to one moment of fan service so masterfully done by the MCU. I don’t think they’ll ever regain that glory but man I’m so grateful to have been alive for it and to enjoy this exact moment with all of my friends
It was like that for Star Wars. I was young but had still seen many movies by the time I saw Star Wars. It was the first time I had ever heard an audience cheer (Han at the end). And this was SEVEN months after the movie had come out! Still a rare occurance.
First time I ever saw anything like this happen was July 1996 when Independence Day was in theaters on its first run. The audience applauded and cheered at the end.
I still remember when this scene happened in the cinema for the first time. Half of our audience screamed like this, the other half remained quiet. I got the feeling they didn’t quite realise the significance of what had just happened, either that or they were just better at keeping their emotions in check haha. Still a great experience though!
I saw this in IMAX 3D and luckily everyone stayed really quite, so we all still got to here the "I knew it" part. But me and about half the theatre just kind of did like a tiny little quarter second "grunting cheer" when it happened. I'm glad nobody freaked and started screaming because we would've missed that line.
I was excited as anyone, but there's a limit to the amount of noise I want to make to drown out the movie. So many in these reaction videos, yelling WooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Yep, okay, movie is still playing, bud.
I was in quiet shock due to how happy I was. I still remember the chills quickly spreading throughout my body. I was so happy, and that feeling was elevated by the cheers in the audience. I'll never forget that night.
This scene is so epic , all along we all knew cap was worthy . We thought thor was calling his hammer. But once captain America caught that bitch . The crowd went insane .......best movie scene ever
"Whatever happens tomorrow, you must promise me one thing. That you will stay who you are. Not the perfect soldier, but, a good man." -Dr Abraham Erskine, Captain America: The First Avenger
Thanos put a noble spin on his mission, but you could see he was always petty, vicious, and cruel. He said his conquests weren't personal, but he clearly enjoyed the suffering he caused. It was only after killing Gamora that his demeanor began to change.
Of course Cap is worthy! He has an indomitable will, and he never gives up, no matter what the circumstances! He's a soldier through thick and thin! He will always fight for what is right!
Captain America was always worthy. Even in Avengers when he tries to lift the hammer at party. One can either worthy or not, there is nothing like half worthy. As , Odin said - " Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. ". Cap was worthy, maybe he didn't lift it knowingly to show some respect OR he becomes worthy after confronting Tony that Bucky killed his Parents.
I remember watching this in theaters. When he said the iconic line after everyone shows up, the entire theater erupted in cheers of pure, unfiltered nerdy joy.
This was the absolute peak of the MCU right here. N it’ll never be touched or replicated ever again. I’ll never forget my theater opening night. One dude 3 rows or so behind me chucked his whole big thing of popcorn up in the air like people do with their hats on graduation. Was a blast. Funny too was how just a few moments later the whole place was dead silent minus all the sharp inhales, sniffles n crying. Epic finale to an 11 year run
He was always worthy. When he tried lifting the hammer and it moved in age of ultron. He knew he could lift it but spared Thors blushes by acting like he couldn't do it
This movie literally had it all fun moments, silly moments, sad moments, serious moments, all hope is lost moments, hopeful moments, etc. From the moment Cap wields mjolnir to the iron man sad music at the end (just thinking about the melody of that song makes me wanna cry), absolute masterpiece. Other than No Way Home, Marvel peaked in this film as a perfect climax and resolution to a beyond decade experience. The wait for this epic moment was beyond worth(y) of the wait.
Another comment said that Cap willingly pretended to be unable to lift the hammer in Age of Ultron even though he always could’ve. Thor probably sensed that while observing that lift…his face when reacting to that and the “I knew it” here says it all.
It's generational. He is from a time when they made movies differently, and he was one of the kings of that. And well earned, he is a skilled man. But he doesn't recognize "movie making" from MARVEL any more than the kings of the movies in the 40's and 50's would recognize it in his movies from the 70's and 80's. Every generation brings something new, and there will always be those who are inherently and naturally threatened by evolution and change. I assure you, one day someone from this generation of movie making will balk at the "new thing" they come up with 40 years from now.
I wonder how many times the crowd reacted like this after endgame. The pointers can be made both sides my friend but Marvel movies are just 'entertainment' (now they are trash) But M Scorsese's movies will be talked about generations after and will be taught in schools. Not just his, even the likes of Christopher Nolan, Guy Ritchie, Tarantino, Edgar wright, All these directors have made so much contribution to movie/cinema's most important aspect: Story Telling. If They had a 12 year movie franchise plan like Marvel had, they would literally end the entire aspect of Cinema for sure.
@@OzBaxter "and there will always be those who are inherently and naturally threatened by evolution and change" Your point is well made and I usually would agree with you, but I highly doubt Scorcese ever felt threatened by superhero movie of any nature. Not only because of his own filmmaking history (which is still ongoing) but also because he specifically complimented the Raimi Spider-Man movies... well, maybe not the third one. =P
@@heetpurohit4444 All films are entertainment. They are nothing else. What the hell did you think they were for, opening cans? I've been hearing about MS all my life and I just went and looked at his filmography and there isn't anything there I care about because he made films about topics that do not interest me. And right now schools are teaching that human beings can change our sex (fraid not). I don't care what schools will teach generations from now. We'll be lucky to still have them at the rate we're destroying everything. Stow your snobbery.
When you laughed at those fans telling about how they literally had a heart attack thinking there being dramatic and then you see this and you can’t breathe.
First time I saw this, I could not hear Thor say "I knew it" due to the loud screams of cheering and excitement around me. Not that I was complaining or anything, I was cheering at this to.
I think part of Mjolnir's magic is that anyone who is worthy of using it can also automatically access the skills to do so. I'm sure Steve had probably never thought about calling down lightning from the skies to strike an enemy like that, until the hammer let him know that he could.
To hell with Scorsassee (spelling?) He makes great movies that stand the test of time... But this scene... Avengers assemble, and "I am... Iron man" are absolutely epic and invoke strong emotion. Endgame instantly became one of my top movies of all time... It has its quirks but scenes like these redeem it completely.
I've always thought that the reason Cap couldn't lift Mjolnir in Ultron but could in Endgame was that in the intervening time period, he learned to swear.
He could have lifted Mjolnir in Ultron, The hammer moved, and Thor saw it. the thing about enchantments is you either are, and the hammer will move, or you are not, thus the hammer wouldn't budge, and didn't for the other Avengers. Steve did not lift it then because it would have undermined Thor at that time.
@@detroyes2 Like Robert said, there is no gray area like that. There is no "edge" of being worthy. You either are worthy or are not. The writers were asked about it in an interview and they clearly stated that it was intended that Cap COULD lift Mjolnir at the time, but chose not to upstage Thor.
@@mmmssbb23 no he was worthy since the exact time he made the jump in captain America the first avenger after cap jumps when the bridge falls down (through which Bucky passed)at the red skull base proof is that the same exact music plays in the background in both the scenes even the directors confirmed that this was indeed true
Very well deserved. We knew it was coming since Age of Altron but hoped it would happen since the beginning. He was worthy that whole time. I love how Thore is happy rather than resentful for him.
Fun fact at the party they were lifting Thor’s hammer and cap moved it and was Worthy then but did not pick it up bc he would shattered Thor’s ego and would been affected in end game and he now showed he was worthy
Mjolnir was enchanted by Odin, only someone sacrificing, and intelligent enough could wield it. Stormbreaker wasn't enchanted by him, it depends upon the strength of the one who wields it whether they can handle its power or not.
When me and my bf watched this movie in theatre.... I remember I was shouting and clapping... Enjoying the whole movie in my own way and my bf had to keep reminding me... Babe there are people around... Stop behaviimg like a kid.... And I was like... Why u r not shouting 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣but he just enjoyed watching me And then we watched the movie again... In the next show... And then he was shouting🤣🤣🤣🤣
When he tried to lift Mjolnir in AoU, it shifted (I'm sure there's videos out there where you can rewatch that scene--it squeaks as well), but he didn't pick it up. Either he wasn't worthy then, or he was worthy, but decided not to show it because he didn't want to show Thor up. We know now that it was likely the latter.
