I love how this series has basically become a podcast where they talk about anything while they play videogames in the background. I find it more interesting than only talking about the game they're playing.
That's because it's a arcade style beat-em up game, hard to make that entertaining for watching. They're boringly constructed to waste your money, not to entertain.
@@JamesNintendoNerd The part that made me laugh most while thinking about the Looney Tunes crash was the intro sound before the actual Looney music starts, the "pwooooooooo", glad that it was in the edited take haha
If we ever get another actual AVGN Video Game we need to have a Level that starts normal but then turns into a 7 Minute Unrelated Cartoon we need to watch before we can continue playing 😆
We get many Final Fight characters in Street Fighter, but where are the Captain Commando geust fighters? I'm fairly certain all 3 series exist in the same universe.
@@Kourumeme I was so pissed they created C. Viper (who had the same moveset as him from MVC) instead of shoe-horning Cap-Com into the SF universe. Unforgivable. *remembers what C. Viper looks like* Okay, sorta forgivable.
@@zigfaust C Viper was shoved into MVC3 at the expense of Captain Commando (actually mentioned by capcom, they said since Viper was so similar they felt they couldn't put both in) "The Capcom worlds strongest superhero" MISSING in place of artificially trying to give C Viper popularity in a game she has no reason to be in.
I actualy love James movie reviews when he is just being himself and 100% honest. The cabinet of Dr Caligari Rocky franchise Alien Franchise Those are some of my favorites he has put out. Dr Caligari is probably my favorite ever, i must have seen that one like 10 times so far, and that one is a very positive review.... Just my 2 cents.
He enjoyed Dr Caligari more than I did. And I saw both Rocky and Alien franchises, and also Bela Lugosi's Dracula and Spanish Dracula and many more because of James.
Absolutely!!! Love listening to his movie reviews of ones he likes. Loved listening to his podcast with his wife talking about their favorite bands. Even games that he likes made for especially fun videos, like SMB3 and his Castlevania review series. This positive review style also got me into classicgameroom and happyconsolegamer.
My favorite review from James is the Ghostbusters 2016 non review video! Hahaha he just explained with a lot of common sense how that movie was doomed.
I was born 1996 and I definitely watched looney tunes as a child. I remember seeing it on Cartoon Network in the early 2000’s. The 90’s definitely bled into the 2000’s
I can't express how fucking hilarious the looney tunes part was, I was laughing my ass off and that's why I have been watching James and Mike Mondays for so long, I love when you are laughing so hard you can't even play anymore. You're giving us the joy of playing with friends to a whole generation secluded because of the pandemic. Thank you so much James and Mike!
You'd have to account for every language to answer your question thoroughly. There are just so many combinations of sentences, it's probably approaching infinity.
I remember playing this in the arcade as a kid, then going to the local park and pretending I was still in the game with my friends; great video as always James and Mike You guys are an inspiration See you next game
Awesome memories. I never got to go to an arcade, my parents didn't want me to go out gallivanting. Though later we got a console that had arcade games that we can experience from the convenience of our home.

I was here for the usual “James & Mike Mondays” episode and gameplay nostalgia, but when it quickly turned to the “add Looney Tunes to disrupt kids playing Minecraft” subject, I totally cracked up like these two.😂😂😂 Totally relate, same generation as these guys, and the humor is classic!🤣
I'm weasel and cow & chicken(they are in the same universe) were freaking brilliant mate! A lot of jokes went over my head as a teen, they are actually pretty dark and surreal.
Same here, i figured they'd pick up on it, but maybe they forgot to bring it up somehow. My assumption is that the name Captain Commando was created as a wordplay on Capcom, it would've been a weird coincidence and oversight if Capcom wasn't aware of it. I mean, they later also had Bionic Commando, but still, Capt. Comm is too on the nose to be a coincidence.
Man...I loved this game. One of the best beat ‘em ups from back in the day. I never knew as a kid that Captain Commando had anything to do with CAPCOM, and I had always wondered why no sequel to this was ever made.
The difference between James and other youtubers: Avgn, screams and blows shit up because that's part of his character. With other youtuber its: "HEY WHATS UP GUYS BACK WITH ANOTHER VIDEO" (WOOOW SOUND EFFECT, ZOOM IN) (BRUH SOUND EFFECT REPEATEDLY) (EXPLOSION) "YOU GUYS WONT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED" (RANDOM ZOOM TO HANDS AND HAND TRACKING.) Bit of an over exaggeration, but I mean pretty accurate.
God, how I hated Tom & Jerry as kid! LOVED loony Tunes but hated Tom & Jerry...It always the same exact thing every episode and I always felt so bad for poor Tom...Even when he was doing nothing that mouse would always find a way to hurt and/or drive that poor kitty crazy! Worst was when poor Tom was doing nothing but got in trouble for something that dumb mouse would do. All I wanted to see was an episode where Tom finally comes out on top or as the "winner". I mean, he doesn't have to go and eat him but just give him a taste of his own medicine for once.
Right as they say "they just watch RU-vid and play minecraft " then I realized that's exactly what I Was doing at the moment. I'm young but I still enjoy old old stuff but damn I feel like a child
Way back as a kid I remember picking up on company isms. Capcom for sure had its own. The “swipe”, the “slide”, the flame etc. The “swipe” you see with SF2 Guile’s Flash Kick, and Strider’s blade swipe. The slide you see with Strider, Dhalsim, Final Fight’s El Gado, even Mega Man, the double lariat was repeated with Haggar and Zangeif.
And then five seconds later he shouts "RYUUUU!!" I don't care how many times he does that, there is something so genuinely funny about it, it never fails to make me chuckle at least.
There are so many people on RU-vid that feel like their forcing laughter but whenever it comes from you guys its always genuine and literally infectious not to mention what you're saying is hilarious. 🤣
James and Mike are such different people. When they play games together, Mike plays to win and James plays just to relax and shoot the shit with a friend. It's kind of amusing to see Mike's reactions in the opening moments of this video. James is waxing nostalgic about his Capcom/Captain Commando memories from childhood and you can tell Mike is getting impatient to just play the damn game.
The Baby Commando is a super genius infant who fights using a robot of his own design. I don't know if they ever explain why or how the baby is a super genius.
i just want to hear james talk about anything hes interested in or watch him beat a challenge. doesnt have to be negative. but im from the olden world, so figures i guess.
Just a thanks James and Mike for getting me into retro gaming. My generation was the ending of Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, and the introduction of the Nintendo 64; though we did own an NES my dad bought back in the day. So many great titles out there from old school consoles that actually interest me more than modern games (mini-movies) that I never got to try. Even the sound of the buttons on retro controllers, particularly NES, is music
You guys kept saying that some stuff seemed like it was from Final Fight, but in some timelines Guy is actually a part of the Commando Force, and it was later decided that the city they're in is based on Metro City! I love Capcom continuities.
I love watching the creative genius flow between you two. Especially James.... I feel like every time I watch james I can physically see his mental finesse flexing ideas and thoughts. He constantly has this idea or vision for something creative.
Only problem I found with the Capcom Beat'em Up Bundle is the bad netcode when going online. Other than that, it's an ok collection but they could have added so much more games.
10:01 Wholesome. It's nice to see inspiration in action versus "gotta crank out a Let's Play for youtube". I look forward to the video. My addition would be the Konami Code that became a staple of Konami games during the era. If you say "Up up down down..." to someone in the context of gaming, they can complete it.
Anyone else notice the cool shadows underneath every character? Exactly the same for every person and doesn't change shape ever. Once I noticed it I couldn't stop watching them
