I loved the ping pong ball drop when I was a kid. Its so cool to see this again after all these years. We were a lucky generation to have all these great shows .
I used to watch this show all the time when I was a kid back in the 1970’s l love it when Mr Moose and Bunny Rabbit get Captain Kangaroo with those ping pong balls always made me laugh!
😄The Ping Pong Balls, I could never forget that growing up. Less messy than slime from "You Can't Do That On Television" on Nickelodeon. Captain shaved his renowned mustache this segment. He looks kinda younger in a way. If I had kids, I'd so watch Captain Kangaroo with'em.
Allegretti was not only the puppeteer on the show but also the manipulator of Grandfather clock, the artist behind the magic drawing board and the performer in the Dancing Bear costume. A super talented individual indeed!!!
I used to think that if I could just talk to Bunny Rabbit, somehow that would solve a lot of problems and make my life better. I don't know where I got that idea.
So glad to find this on youtube. I grew up with these programs. Life was kinder, more innocent and moral in those days. As a result children and society in general was different ....and better.
Ehh, I'm not sure that's true. Society was a lot less tolerant of people with differences in those days. We tend to look back on our childhoods with nostalgia, remembering the good parts and forgetting the bad. The rose-tinted glasses effect.
@@DrMechano You are absolutely 100% correct about society being a lot less tolerant of people with differences back in those days, and that, is PRECISELY why the other reviewer was also 100% correct, about it being a much better time back in those days, and that's because back then people didn't put up with, believe in, or tolerate any FREAKS that tried to pretend that they were something other than MALE or FEMALE!!! And, anyone who disagrees with that analogy, I would say is likely wearing those rose colored glasses you spoke of!
@@r.r.e.7723 It takes too much energy to be mad at people who aren't hurting me. Live and let live, and you'll be a happier person in general I've found.
@livingfree You're right, things were much better then. It's sad to see the insanity children are subjected to now. But I think people are getting fed up, so hopefully things will change for the better soon.
OMG! I haven't seen the Captain in years! That show was on so long and was so great that I enjoyed it as a kid and so did my daughter several years later! Her favorite toy was a plush bunny named "Bunny Rabbit" after you-know-who.
Originally it was supposed to to be golf balls dropped on his head, but they were too heavy, and the Captain could get hurt. So it became ping pong balls. This gag never got old.
Does anybody remember a crazy little film made by Bunny Rabbit that showed a bunch of carrots on a revolving platform with music from Dr. Zhivago that pretty much self destructs shortly after the film starts?
livingfree said it. omg. When I mentioned this program to others I get the strangest looks. Captain who? well now here is a link from a child hood memory of mine. Tho the tree top is mostly Salt and some pepper. watch this link and share it with the today's generation.
I wish "Bunny Rabbit"would have talk on the show?On another program of "Captain Kangaroo"Captain Kangaroo is talking about a lion stuck in the cabinet he crawl in there when he a little lion you think Mr.Green Jeans'would have cut open the cabinet to save the lion.
