This is a complete Captain Kangaroo show as recorded from a satellite feed back in the early 1990s. Dolly Parton appears as a guest star and the show was first aired on October 27, 1976.
@@lilajagears8317 I was born in 1982, and when I was young, and Living on the Farm in Canton South Dakota, I use to watch this and other old school pbs shows, Like, 1. Mister Roger's Neighborhood. 2. Sesame Street. (Before it was messed up). 3. Shining Time Station. (The Ringo Starr Years). 4. The Letter People. 5. Star Lore. 6. Once Upon a Time. (I'm not talking about a Certain TV Series of the same name that was on the ABC Network). 7. Is-land Treasure. 8. STORYLORDS. 9. Tales From The Treehouse. 10. The Write Channel. 11. 3-2-1 Contact. 12. Square One TV, 13. Owl Tv. 14. Read It. 15. The Book Bird. 16. Cover to Cover. Kids Today don't Know what Great Shows Are These Days, God I wish that Dish Network would have a network that's only for old school PBS Shows, so that Kids Today would know what Great Shows are Like, whenever I see Old School PBS Shows Like This one, I get Nostalgia.
@@kellymiller1891 Excellent! That's the first time I've seen anybody mention 3-2-1 Contact since the early 80s! And don't forget about the Bloodhound Gang :-)
Class? Dolly is from Appalacia and wears gigantic bleach blonde wigs! Sure she's beautiful and poised, but that is not "class", look it up in the dictionary!
Dolly Parton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last night and this episode is the first thing that popped into my head when I got that news.
@@lilajagears8317 I never went to the hall of fame, knew it was a scam. A rich boys music collection, that's all. I know someone who went, and told me there was a lot about it that wasn't rock n roll.
Dolly turned the award down. Then so many people were displeased with her not coming to the awards. So Dolly said she would expect the award, but she said she was a Country Star.🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🕶🕶🕶🎸🎸🎸🎸🕶🕶🕶🎸🎸🎸🎸👠👠👠👠🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🌹🌹🌹🌹👠👠👠👠👠
That was all created intentionally... her “image”... it was a well controlled and constructed plan ... her breasts weren’t that big on the Porter Wagoner show... she did all this image creation to attract sexual attention...so people would notice her other talents too... and she did attract overly attention. Today she doesn’t even stand out.
Thank you for highlighting my comment. So many memorable characters were on this show. I liked Mr. Green Jeans, Bunny 🐰 Rabbit, and that Tiny Band. 🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡😻😻🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
1976, was the year I was doing lots of flying between NC, and NJ, as an unaccompanied minor. Something that would be more difficult today. I went to one of his live shows in Greensboro.
I grew up watching reruns of captain kangaroo. I would have said one of my favorites. Rewatching this many years later, I don’t remember the intro or the characters (except Mr green jeans). I do remember picture pages at the end. 😂😂
Jeebus! When I was a kid watching the Captain in ‘60 on a fuzzy b/w tv, they surely didn’t have all the hoopla intro nonsense! Still, Miss Dolly brings a big smile wherever she goes. 😄
Wow! She is strikingly beautiful. I saw a black and white picture of her from 1977, it was a promotional image for RCA records. Just type in black and white pictures Dolly Parton......It's the first picture in the upper left.......Dolly Parton: Marilyn Monroe pretty??? Captain Kangaroo, hold my guitar!
Dolly Parton reads a story to children, about a cannibal woman haunted by the ghost of someone she tried to eat. I remember reading that story when I was a child. It was so creepy I never forgot it.
It’s supposed to be creepy, but she’s not a cannibal woman. Even if the reader sees the connection with the cemetery, she is naive and assumes it’s an animal bone that she can use for soup. I wish we didn’t have this modern proclivity to identify the sinister in everything in order to build ourselves up.
Bob Keeshan (June 27, 1927 - January 23, 2004) was an American television producer and actor. He created and played the title role in the children's television program Captain Kangaroo, which ran from 1955 to 1984, the longest-running nationally broadcast children's television program of its day. Keeshan also played the original Clarabell the Clown on the Howdy Doody television program. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Keeshan
haha that radio was front and center in the Treasure House during my years with the Captain, by 1976 he had to pull it out of the basement ... and when did they change the theme song?????
I was born in 1965, I grew up with this. Wow a normal child's life was possible once. It sure ain't today. Boys wanting to be girls and girls wanting to be boys. God help us, and God bless Captain Kangaroo🙏😁
I was born in 1965 too. Why don't you take your culture-war venom elsewhere, away from the positivity of this video. Look in the mirror. The problem of today isn't lgbt people, it's the likes of you.
@@harpfully I will pray for you. It's not right at all to lie to a child about their true biological sex and tell them their something they are not. It's just plain wrong. A LIE is a LIE, no matter how you package it. Children need the TRUTH, not adults telling them what they are because of society's "Woke" agenda. God loves all these people, but He hates the sin, and He wants them to repent, turning from their sin (I'm talking about adults here). I have my own sins, but I sure don't try to justify them to a HOLY GOD. What's my authority?? The Holy Bible, that has governed mankind for 8000 years. I'll take God's word on it, way before I will take mankind's "new way of thinking". Again, I say these things in love, not hate. Trust and believe in Jesus Christ before it's to late, and renew your mind. God bless🙏
Here is a little bit of information for you…. Captain kangaroo.( mr. Green jeans.(and the Burger King guy from the 1970s commercial.(… all the same guy….( as a kid I always wondered why Mr. Green jeans was on and then captain kangaroo read after and then I realized it was the same actor playing the two different parts and then the commercial come on and it was the same guy in the Burger King commercial in the 70s with the crown all the same guy
Me too. Hearing his voice again felt like an old familiar comfortable wool blanket wrapped around me. He and Mr Rogers were the best during my childhood..
Captain Kangaroo was an American children's television series that aired weekday mornings on the American television network CBS from 1955 to 1984, making it the longest-running nationally broadcast children's television program of its day. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Kangaroo
It was an amazing show. PBS aired it until 1992 when Barney took its spot. I used to put it on the air at our local PBS affiliate in Peoria. I also met Bob Keeshan in person when he came to Peoria to visit children in one of our local hospitals. He was the same off camera as he was on camera - a gentle, warm, and friendly.
I saw this as a kid and I still remember it such a beautiful woman such a beautiful man I am much more conservative I find it interesting how far we’ve moved from this this right here to where we’re at!
Year after year time after time age after age. Why do they all look the same? All the hip hoppers the pop rockers the country bumpkins and all the singing cuty patuties. They ALL look the same.
