33:31 "We need to get back to the Pillar of Autum. Let's go back to the shuttle bay and find a ride" Yes, Cortana! I think Lucy heard you the first time 😂 Lucy living the Halo experience. Memorizing lines from dying over and over 😂
2:45 actually, the devs held it off of you in the first half of the game. As far as I know, there’s no shotguns until you first find one in 343 Guilty Spark
If no one has told you already, the plasma pistol can be shot as a pistol, like clicking the trigger instead of holding. Holding makes it stronger but drains faster. Enjoying the play through as usual
23:03 There are two ways out of this: One: Full, send the covenant line, and pray that you make it. Two: Sit back and let the Flood and covenant duke it out while you watch, then clean up whatever remains.
29:40 .. Cortana: "We need to get back to Pillar of Autumn" .. Masterchief like: "what the hell do you think I'm trying to do here?" 🤣... happened to me too, after that I changed tactics and slowly cleared the way enemy by enemy from distance 🙂 Thanks a lot for the video Lucy 🙂your reaction @ 31:56 is similar to mine 🤣 ... cheers from germany
FYI in this game the small ones do not reanimate the big flood. When you kill one of the combat flood there is some percentage chance that it will get back up, but it's purely random and has nothing to do with the little ones.
Is it really? I've always found it very useful to clear out the hunters at least, and also some of the elites guarding the grav lift. Just don't use it against the flood.
31:55 The enemies drop grenades on the ground for you to pick up. If a grenade or some other explosion happens near them, they go off too. You died a handful of times due to this in this level
34:20 The game finally gave you a checkpoint after all those other attempts, because you took a breather to let your shields recharge. The Halo CE checkpoint system goes by location, but some conditions must also be fulfilled. There are some nuances, but in general, the game won't give you a checkpoint while it considers you to be in combat. The game 'wanted' to give you the checkpoint every time you went past that spot, but it only did once you stopped rushing into the hangar. 'No checkpoints mid combat' for the most part applies to other halo games as well.
The shotgun is only available to the player from the 343 Guilty Spark mission, so don't feel bad about discovering it "late". And the sniper rifle is useless against the Flood.
As much as I critique, you are infinitely more entertaining in every way than watching someone who's played this already, thanks for the time. cant wait for the next one!.
Don't know if it's been said or you noticed. Grunts are only "brave" in high numbers or when Elites are nearby. If either of these two are not present, grunts will only then run. Basically, they're little scumbags. Grunts despise humanity because they won't submit to... more Halo lore to come
I am glad to know I was not only the one who found that stage hard. I decided to jump of both ledges to get to the Banshee, a sort of quick direct route.
For the record, the green energy rocket launchers are called fuel rod guns. They're a smaller version of the weapon the Hunters carry. Also, you can use them in Halo 2!
4:48 The drop into the coolant was meant to catch you by surprise - you can see it’s immediately behind the door, so if you’re at all distracted you’re liable to fall right in. I’m not sure how many players it worked on but it definitely got me the first time I played as a kid. Cortana encouraging you to jump in is the fallback. 18:58 … kinda like that.
Keys death is sad...until you read his passage/watch the terminal that he voice acted for that same section....in which his death becomes truly horrifying
Your ability to unknowingly run TOWARDS a grenade that's been thrown on the ground is unmatched. It seems statistically impossible how frequently you do it and it's fantastic. Ha. Love the never quit attitude though. Keep grinding.
Sniper didn’t work well because in lore the flood bodies need to be destroyed that’s why the shotgun and melee are the best, snipers would only cause some holes but not destroy the body
While that's probably the logic used it is very much wrong. The Sniper in Halo uses 14.5 mm ammo... which would cause catastrophic damage to, well pretty much anything. There's a reason this sort of ammo has all but entirely replaced the 50 cal. Seriously go see what a 50 cal does to a ballistic dummy and then remember the 14.5 hits harder. Not to say a close range shotgun can't or won't deal more damage (I actually need to do research to figure that one out...) but at worst the Sniper should probably be the second best gun against the flood in a realistic sense.
You’re right, that always bothered me as well. I get that the high-caliber round “passes straight through” and there’s no centralized vital organs in a Flood host, but a 14.5 mm round at high velocity would tear a massive hole in your chest or take limbs clean off because of the mass and velocity involved. Maybe not quite a hole like what the Halo shotgun’s 8-gauge buckshot does to a Flood chest, but still. The same model can damage tank armor in Halo Reach.
So... when you got a checkpoint around 34:25. The checkpoints in the Halo games are pretty dynamic, they can be triggered by reaching a certain location or a particular event occurring, but they can also happen in lots of different places IF there aren't enemies next to you. These have been really fun to watch by the way! It's interesting seeing new eyes take it in.
You've been doing great for your first time through! I have greatly enjoyed watching your playthrough, even if you feel like you're making noob mistakes here and there. So glad to see you are enjoying the game. The gun play and combat really are great, aren't they?! Anyway, I know this advice is coming a bit late, but better late than never. The checkpoints can really suck in this game, but understanding how they work can really help. There are usually checkpoints after virtually every "big battle" or between areas/scuffles. But they won't trigger if there are any enemies around (although there can be a few of the popcorn guys sometimes) or if you're shields are low. So usually, it pays to play the game slowly and methodically. That being said, it is definitely a run and gun and you totally can run through a bunch of enemies if you just want to get through. But then you have to be sure to pause before the next group/area and let your shields recharge and/or mop up any followers to get the checkpoint to trigger. It seems like you're starting to catch on, but I just wanted to share that tip from a Halo veteran. Gotta be in the right place, alone, with recharging shields. Good luck! 👍
Remember in the beginning cutscene of this mission where Cortana says The Covenant sent a strike force to deal with The Flood? Those are The Covenant you encounter after you find Captain Keyes and those guys are no slouches!!
the reason the sniper is so ineffective against the flood is because it’s a 50 calibre round, it pierces through the flesh which only rips out a small chunk instead of ripping it to pieces like the shotgun does. Super precise damage simply doesn’t work well on them
@5:00 so when you mentioned swimming, it's interesting to note that in the original concept of this game Bungie had water vehicles and water weapons planned (like harpoon guns) I guess it was cut during development because they didn't have enough time to implement it all.
On the last level, you will see arrows on the ground to indicate where different areas of the ship are pay attention to them. At one point, you'll see two red arrows, one says engineering, the other says armoury. Go to the Armoury first. There is a TON of Rocket Launchers and shotguns. You will NEED both.
Whenever you're stuck between the Flood and the Covenant, trigger them then hide and let them fight each other. That should help you with the last mission and the other Halo games if you play them.
If you think about it, ships in the same class would likely be built with the same layout, altho that certainly is convenient towards fitting a game on a disk.
Piece of advice/hint: when the big explodey flood fall down you can stop shooting them, they're self-destructing to release the little 'popcorn' flood. Shooting them just wastes ammo, they release the small ones when you kill them all the same.
Captain Keyes getting Aliened into a flesh wall is pretty gnarly but they sorta gloss over the fact the Chief casually punches a hole THOUGH HIS FACE to retrieve the Neural Implant :I One of the few moments in the series that really shows how powerful the Spartan II's & Mjolnir Armour are & you could easily miss it entirely o_o
You dont need to hold on to guns when you really like them and they run out of ammo 😂 When get ammo for it, its just like finding it for the first time
Sometimes there are ammo drops around dead marines and there may not be a weapon (certain levels give out a lot of sniper ammo), but yes, flood enemies in particular drop a ton of human weapons/ammo in general.
If you're still taking book suggestions - and if it hasn't already been thrust at you, lass - the most foundational books to the whole Halo franchise are 'The Forerunner Saga' trilogy by Greg Bear (who has sadly passed away since him writing them): everything that happens in Halo does so because of what began in these novel's narrative 🙂
Remember everyone . When the pin is pulled Mr grenade is no longer your friend Also as you noted the sniper doesn't work well against flood because they're basically just parasite controlled meat bags . It's a theme that runs through the second game too . In the third game though you can "headshot" flood by killing the infection form in the things chest
Here we go the Flood Lore gets deeper. Im 100% sure youve already started the books. The best way to start them is their release date: Halo 1 game timeline: Fall of Reach The Flood First Strike After finishing Halo 2: Contact Harvest (all about Johnson) Cole protocol (all about Keyes) Ghosts of Onyx (events during Halo2) I think all the other books take place after Halo 3 so its free game after that My personal favs are First Strike and Ghosts of onyx
Good job!I think the game lied giving you a sniper.Im glad you stopped trying to kill all of them.I like how you went back to the old graphics a little.I think I like the old popcorn better.Have fun and be safe on your trip!I hope you like it here!
i would really recommend replaying this level. It doesn't have to all be on camera, however there is one more, massive thing you missed, which you'll definitely want to record a reaction to. See that red terminal at 28:35 ? Interact with it.
I do not know if I should feel bad not pointing out that the exploding flood also damage the flood so shooting them does damage to the swarm around them but I did find a lot of enjoyment in watching you struggle, and it was against the rules to point that out so hahaha.
30:00 this is where the game is forcing you to "get tactical" use cover, target priorities, weapon utilization, positioning, spatial awareness, situational awareness (two different things that are also necessary for driving with out an infraction) Knowledge of enemy weak points, knowing when the game wants you to hold or when to fold. Trust me, if you were playing on legendary you would learn that plasma grenade head shots and non stop needler suppression are the only way forward. Another fact you may have passively realized is bullets do less damage to shields but but are devastating to flesh, while plasma weapons drain shields fast but do not have the same shot for shot flesh damage that kinetic weapons have. Every time you use kinetic on a shielded enemy at first you are wasting bullets and time. Hunters: ) Have a weak point under there chin in the armor gaps and at the base of there spine in the lower back, Jackals: ) Have a weak point where there hand pokes out from behind there shield if you shoot it it will make them vulnerable to a head shot. Elites:) Elites are the best all round fighter, the higher the rank the more shields strength they have. elites health works the same they have a shield once it goes down it makes them vulnerable to head shots. Also one hit to the spine if they are not looking will kill them shield or not. Grunts:) there weakness is there reliance on the elite squad leaders, once there elite in command goes they tend to run from the chief. They will grenade you if given a chance so stop letting them live. Flood:) They have a weakness to pistol and shotgun fire, Pistol only takes 2 or 3 shots to put down, while shotgun is 1 to 2 shots. The flood can only reanimate if they still have a head which if you destroyed after "killing" them then you wouldn't have to worry about infection forms reanimating them. If you shot the limbs off an alive flood form then they are incapable of hurting you and will just follow you. Spreading forms are to be avoided like a live grenade and can chain reaction inactivated grenades on the ground within its explosive radius. all explosives on the ground can be chain reactioned in this game. to mitigate flood reanimation without wasting bullets, you can melee there limbs and or head off :]. One last note, Flood are impervious to sniper rifle fire because it makes such a small hole and goes so fast that nothing vital is damaged in the flood.
The terminal for this level is one of the only ones that doesnt have huge historical implications, it just is world building for this level specifically. This is one you could totally have watched mid level, and it would have been fantastic, but watching it later works too.
@@nybergsgarage Fair enough, but she did ask specifically for what that terminal answers. Though she's reading the books, so she may get to that answer before the terminal
@@yourpancake652 zxc hey we’re friend call five see file left a friend. I’ll try to stay kind of keys. I got counting out now. I’m going on to them to fly. @@lucyjrobyn It's got the best story by far. And I get that it won't be for the whole game, but once you beat it on normal PLEASE upload you attempting to getting past just the first room on the level Gravemind in Halo 2 on legendary. That would get you so many views! If you can do it in under 30 minutes I'll donate.
most fun mission :D would u play dead space remake its pretty good. halo 2 is also pretty good. tfw doing real shit with your life girls i guess lols. wont shoot the grunts watch them get eaten alive by flood. hmm sad grunts
