Captain Rex's finest moments in Star Wars the Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. "You won't find a finer and more loyal trooper anywhere." - Anakin Skywalker.
Cody: "Rex! What the heck are you doing!?" Rex: "Relax." *Rex takes of the troopers helmet* Cody: "REX! WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK YOU JUST KILLED A SHINY! Rex: "I thought it was a... Aaaaaah..."
@@ctutah6696 Honestly, I like to believe that was a mix of Ventress's arrogance of her own power, and Rex's intelligence, pretending he was being controlled and then making absolutely damn sure Skywalker would know that while he was talking, it wasn't of his own accord.
Did this man just give away he was being mind-tricked by using "Anakin?" He's definitely a defective clone. His balls mutated and are 3x the size of every other clones' balls.
The voice actor was so good. He made me be able to identify Cody, Rex, Fives, Hevy, Tup and Echo just by the sound of their voice. AND THEY HAVE THE SAME GOD DAM VOICE
Its how he talks he brings out different tones with each clone and how they talk in general for instance Hardcase was hyper and Fives was more serious and outspoken
@@thefiresworddragon927 I wouldn't exactly call Krell an ass. he's merely a particularly hard individual who idolized Count Dooku as a young Jedi (as most young ones at the time did) of course, having anything to do with Dooku's going to warp your mind to hell
And weirdly enough they all have their differences and quirks. No two are the same. 99 was also an interesting case. A very wise and insightful one despite being malformed.
I don't think Ventress actually controlled Rex. I believe that Rex was pretending to have been controlled but was warning Anakin. Quite clever, actually.
The Jedi/sith mind trick only works on weak minds, I don't think Rex has a weak mind, so I think your theory is true, he wasn't being controlled, more like warning Anakin.
Death Man And he said the 'I don't talk to separatist scum' bit at the beginning as part of his plan to make ventress want to use the force to break rex as opposed to her just killing him.
Sadly, I doubt it'd be any different like he reacted with ashoka. Maybe he'd comment on how he was a high ranking clone, and ask why he betrayed the empire, but not much else.
It would be like Vader: join us we give you high position and you can train our troops Rex: no i dont think i will Vader: then you will die Proceds to break his neck
@@wendysfreshneverfrozen1853 I just re watched season 1 and genuinely, it's pretty good. Wacky animations and a kinda shit filler episode but overall 7/10
When we were kids I liked Rex and my brother liked Cody Glad I chose Rex Edit: gonna put an update here, I’ve not seen Bad Batch season 2 so don’t spoil anything
The Learned Soldier i also loved how gritty it was. the first 2 episodes showed that you got men dying left and right and explosions and just a total shitshow overall
"General Krell, you're being relieved of duty." "It's treason, then." That reference was so smooth lol. That, and later on: "You dare to attack a Jedi!" I loved the Umbara story arc.
It's crazy to watch Rex's progression over the series. At first he's younger, more gung ho and then he gets more weathered, war-weary as the war goes on. You can even see it in the lines of his face
Man the transition from Ahsoka back then and Ahsoka now.... Past: "In my book, experience outranks everything." "Well then i better start getting some!" Now: "In my book, Experience outranks everything!" "Well then i guess i outrank you."
Yeah, battles don't instantly stop when the order is given. There's always a lag time for orders to get to individual soldiers, not hearing it because they're in the middle of a melee and if they stop they're going to get killed, so on and so forth.
It's heartwarming seeing Rex and Ahsoka interact for the first time and knowing full well how deep their friendship becomes. After Anakin I'd say Rex is the most important person to Ahsoka.
There's a book called "Ahsoka" coming out in October; if the synopsis is anything to go by, it basically states that Ahsoka took Rex to Mandalore to deal with Darth Maul. Anakin, Obi-Wan and Cody were going to join them, but then of course Coruscant came under attack, and that was a more pressing concern.
I still get chills watching the clones fighting each other bc of Krell. And Rex running into the middle of the battle without his helmet is the bravest thing. I want a show just about the clones like Rex who removed their chips and escaped
That would be fucking awesome. Maybe add some more clones in, who eventually go their own way and seperate from Rex, Wolffe and Gregor. Like Commander Doon for example, or Kix or even the Bad Batch with Echo. And maybe have a confrontation between them and Cody, Bly, Apo etc.
Is it just me or I loved Ahsoka’s response to Rex’s quote, “In my book, experience outranks everything.” Like, she didin’t complain or anything, she just respects his reason and will follow it.
0:32 Rex wasn’t weak minded he played along so he could survive and put on a overly emotionless voice and broke formality to subtly warn Anakin about ventress.
Nick Rof only when wearing his helmet otherwise it would be hard as hell. a clones helmet has a Hud with a cross hair on it. that's why he can duel wield without ADS. and that's why almost every clone weapon lacks physical iron sights. such as the DC15
Skyler Slack While that is true, I think Rex, after years of fighting with the same weapons, would have most likely know how to use the DC-17s (I think that's what those pistols are called) without his helmet. Just a thought
................................................................ ............... ....................... ............ ..................... .......... .................. Not the better but still glasses xD
"How do you suppose we get into (the rishi moon outpost)?" "I have a few ideas.." Goddamn I wanna know what the other ideas were if #1 was /pretend to be a commando droid/
Rex: in my book, experience outranks everything Ahsoka: Well, then I’d still outrank you since I’m fourteen years old, and you’re like, what... three, four? Edit: I know now that Rex is 11 or 12.
Taegen Doscher He helped Ahsoka and faked both their deaths, because he had removed the chip, and when Anakin died, he wasn’t on Mustafar. So who’d he betray?
The fact that he was able to resist a fucking mind trick in the movie, and literally survived _everything_ the war threw his way easily makes him my favorite character, at least in Clone Wars.
He did resist the mind trick, however, he needed to warn Anakin that Ventress was there without her knowing. She gave him the perfect opening, so he played along and used wording that wouldn’t tip off Ventress , but would sure as heck let Anakin know something was up.
You can tell how much of a bro Cody is at 1:17 because he sees Rex outright kill another clone, and questions him instead of immediately pulling a blaster on him. I think Cody would go "Bad Batch" and help Rex bury a body X'D
@@aaronrace7591 Makes sense really. I mean they didn't really have a chance to develop deep distinct personalities before they went to war, Kamino was too uniform for that. They both worked closely with their respective jedi generals since they were assigned to them so they probably subconciously took in some of their personality traits... like kids do with their parents.
I guess I’m the first one here right after the very end of The Clone Wars Gotta say this video hits differently now after seeing how, er, certain events play out, you see Rex in a whole new light
I think the hard thing about Rex is, initially, you don't think he's gonna be that important. You just think he's Anakin's token clone. Heck, with all the clones who die in this series, you don't really want to get too attached to him. But then he sticks around and gets all these great moments but you still don't want to get attached because Order 66 is coming. But then Rebels happened and he's alive and well and you just feel so damn happy that out of all the characters in this sad story, this random clone actually got a chance to survive and be happy. Then Season 7 comes and it twists what you thought you knew
Carly Crays - Oh so true, an absolutely unforeseen golden story arc. The more you ponder on it, the more you realize how tragic Rex’s story is. Filoni and co did a damn good job humanizing this cannon fodder of an army.
@@Padawan_Dif Yeah, there is no reason you should think that Rex is going to be anything special, especially in the beginning. But he keeps going and doesn't really give up even when his world is going to hell. And his relationship with Ahsoka becomes the heart of the final
Yuh Yeet that depends. The way I see it, allegiance is putting the government first and the people second, while loyalty is putting the people first and government second
9:58 I think there was a tinge of sadness there I didn't notice before. I think Rex felt a little crushed realizing the little youngin he used to order around had to grow up in such horrible times of war and live as an outcast her entire life. Even Rex, as little as it was, had brief moments of relief and times to look back on life. I don't think Ahsoka was ever given that. Not after she joined the Jedi Order, and certainly not after it betrayed her.
When General Krell was surprised Rex showed “tenacity” an called the clones men, Krell took Rex a little more serious afterwards actually impressed me with the story telling. Then when they said I think he almost complimented you and Rex says “ahh..its hard to tell” lol too good.
Kiren Te Kano When watching rebels I had forgotten that they had this exchange before, let alone when they first meet. I didn't realize it but you're right that it does hit it home much more when it's realized that that was both their first and last exchange.
Now I have that weird a$$ little clip of the clones fighting *on* Excalibur Umbra from Warframe in my head. Thank you very much, that was one of the last things I needed in my life. And it's actually hilarious. XD *facepalm + tired and suffering chuckle* P.S. Umbara is a freakin' hellhole for the clones and I don't think I ever _disliked_ a "Jedi" so much in my entire life. R.I.P every clone that died there, you all deserved at least a better death.
1:48 "Your armor, it's shiny and new. Just like you" Said to a clone in dirty, grimy armor that I'm pretty sure it literally the exact same model and texture as the one he's wearing.
4:14 "He [Dogma] kinda reminds me of you" "Maybe, back in the day" That shows so much, how the war changed Rex. When he joined the GAR (left Kamino), he was a fresh baked soldier, always thinking on his feet, more often than not realising the importance of his leadership to the 501st, thus fighting, even when he should've taken a break/recover. But war told him, that, for the safety of his brothers he sometimes has to think about himself first.
