I agree. I worked in landscaping both summer and winter seasons which can have long days with limited amount of sleep. Lots of people eat junk/unhealthy food during the day. Different occupations but with some similarities

The captains make a very good living and the crew can aswell for a few months work per year. Trust me, they're all doing just fine. Better than you and I.

My hats off to you brother i couldnt do it i dont think i could be that far away from son knowing that could be last time i see him i dont mind the pain i hurt all the damn time but man u start being that far away from your kids it pulls at the heart strings i couldnt be away from my son that long or just be that far away from him

Lucky for me I don’t have kids and am single 😂 but every year there is a new wave of greenhorns that take over Dutch harbor and probably a 3rd of them go home before the seasons over because they miss there family, another 3rd quit because it’s “too hard” it’s honestly not the hardest job in the world. It’s basically like working in outdoor factory honestly. It’s just very repetitive work. But like being a roughneck on a oil rig seems way more difficult to me. I couldn’t imagine doing something like that. But yea, I totally understand you not being able to be away from your son. It’s not easy being away from loved ones. But again I don’t have any loved ones 😂😂 I have dog that’s fine staying with my sister when I go to work 😂😂

I commercial fished for about 15 years so far, and my first real gig, the captain tested me on our third trip. It was a full 80 hours and I took four 15 minute cat naps. salmon spoke to me. Didn’t know what was real and what wasn’t. It sure is a different feeling.

Those are tough but honestly if my very first trip would of had a 80 hour haul I don’t think I would of been able to make another trip 😂 that first trip really tested me and I know I had it easy. I’ve roughened up a lot more as times gone by tho. It definitely gets easier the more you do it but man the first few trips out are rough. Even if it’s a easy trip out 😂

Not true at all. There are plenty of women all around the world that do that type of stuff, it’s not just a man’s job. You only may think that because this show is highly concentrated on crew all full of men.

I pity any woman that has to mix with these guys, in an environment like this. Dirty, smelly, rude and crude.😄

You’d be surprised how many women work in this industry believe you me these are the strongest working women you’ll see. The first vessel I worked on my skipper was a woman she definitely knew how to dish it out. Fishing ain’t for the politically correct when you’re in the middle of nowhere.

Well, Sig WAS worried about her when she first got on the boat. He was reluctant to even let her on the boat to begin with, after she kept asking. He finally gave in, but he kept her under his wing for so long. So, I'll give you that much.

I was one of those early critics who watched the show from the jump. We saw the entire deck cast of the Northwestern throughout all those years Jake was growing up & Edgar was hounding him, there was always 1 constant. Many wasn't there. I pointed that out & the show tried to go revisionist & show old footage of Mandy on a deck sorry but that was pathetic.
