you didn’t realize how cruel these parks were? I hope you’re less then 20 years old… because everyone older then that knows very well how cruel all this was.
They shouldn’t have ever taken her from the Pacific Ocean in the first place. The way she was treated, everyone involved should be looking at jail time !!!!!
@@melviasheppard8466 I agree she should never have been taken from her home and never should have been put in captivity, but how can we give anyone jail time? What would be the charge?
@@melviasheppard8466 But the problem is that Lolita is now dead, so why would anyone care? Also she was going to be released soon, so that makes it harder to press any charges of animal cruelty and abuse, especially when they tried to save her life and plans were already in the works to move her to a coastal sanctuary. I would like to see charges brought against Miami Seaquarium for imprisoning her for so long in that human equivalent of a bathtub, and ignoring calls for decades to release her to a sanctuary until it was too late, but sadly not much would come out of this as the captive breeding of orcas has already stopped.
Without sea world and zoos many endangered species would already be extinct. They are a necessary evil, in order to save animals from extinction. Much like how we humans need prisons in order to keep Molotov cocktail throwing hooligans off of our city streets and behind bars where they belong.
@timothyomara6303 zoos are sometimes necessary (with decent sized, enriching enclosures for members of threatened species), but “Seaworld” is utterly despicable. There is no excuse for that. Marine animals like orcas belong in the vast ocean, not in TINY tanks where they can hardly move, to be milked for profit year after year. Absolutely disgusting!
There is an elementary school who had been doing fundraisers and trying to bring awareness to this situation as a community service project. There was speculation the Orca was getting sicker and older and needed to be put back with her family and clearly they waited too long. This is heartbreaking, those children will be devastated to learn she died alone in her tiny tank. That poor animal spent her entire life alone and isolated and forced to perform. Remember that when you guys take your kids to amusement parks where performing animals are.
@@annebalderston2520 oh I personally wasn't involved with the fundraiser I personally would think that maybe too rough of a topic for elementary school kids to handle but I know that there was an elementary school and in fact there was multiple schools that were rallying to free this animal in the Miami area and these schools are also rallying to free the other 60 orcas in the same conditions in captivity currently worldwide
the guys that did it are now saying " O, it made us cry" Really--i didnt see tears in your eyes!!!U are still living, she isnt, and neither are the ones they captured 50 years ago!!They had us all fooled--as they laughed going to the bank. And dont let ANY of them fool u! A seapen? Really? Whos going to maintain that??? They killed her overnite is what they did--and then posted the gory pics on utube!!They should let God punish all of them!!! Fot he who casstedd the first stone, will find that stone return upon them!!!
I think all the Orcas that have been captured to show people, they should leave them in the ocean or take them back. Look how small that container is they have her in. Sad.
THIS IS TERRIBLE.. IMAGINE BRING KIDNAPPED FROM YOUR FAMILY AND HELD CAPTIVE IN A BATHTUB ALL YOUR LIFE FORCED TO DANCE AND ENTERTAIN GAWKERS. SHUT DOWN ALL OF THESE PRISONS.
Poor dear. What a sad, aweful life she had. I hope taking baby orcas and dolphins from the wild will be banned if it isnt already, and all these tourist attractions will be shut down.
My heart breaks knowing we humans failed her. It should never had taken so long to move her back home. Nobody can live well alone & confined with no company! In a spiritual way, I am relieved her suffering & loneliness is over. I am angry the Red tape & greed kept her in that situation so long! Why she couldn't have been transfered to a larger & healthier facility, while waiting for her journey home, were she could have had some interaction with another Orca, is beyond me! I am sorry for the suffering we put you through. 😔 May her body Rest in Peace! May her spirit be Free Forever!
they all lied to us ALL OF THEM DONT BELIEVE A SINGLE ONE OF THEM My sister in law is a psychiatrist, and she studied the utube videos and their body languauge. She said theyre all liars. and they killed her overnite
I said when they announced she was coming home, she must have been sick because thats the only way those selfish pigs would let her go and well....here ya have it.... Poor girl didnt make it back but i assumed she most likely wouldn't have withstood the trip or would die from illness soon after. So sad..
Not true. Customer often are not aware of what they consume. A lot of people have little to no information about the issues. I went 15 years ago. It was part of the amusement park. Had no idea about the issue until years later. I was 16 at the time. People keep birds in cages . People keeping animals in cages before you eat them. While there is plenty of guilt to go around, most of it goes to people that profit from it while fully being aware of all the issues.
I DONT Think this is True Either. My Parents Took us to Sea World in San Diego!!! I Was a Teenager and my sister was a little girl. We Didn't Know Any better. We were from Mexico. We had Never seen Whales Before. If Someone HAD TOLD US THAT THEY HAD BEEN CAPTURED AND TAKEN FROM THEIR FAMILIES FROM THE OCEAN, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEVASTATED. WE LOVE ANIMALS. IM NOT SURE MY PARENTS KNEW ABOUT THIS!! THIS IS SO SAD!! I AM DEVASTATED NOW!!
The Miami aquarium should be shut down and fined! I don't believe this was a renal failure. I believe that aquarium killed her instead of just letting her go. Shame on them! I hope they all rot in Hell😢
How are you capturing her, force her to live in limited captivity and when shes old and useless you send her back to the ocean. That makes perfect sense.
I hope we are able to stop putting animals on display for our entertainment. They don't deserve that. We really should move past that crap. It's awful. Rest in peace Lolita. **Edit**I cannot believe they were keeping her in a tank that size. That water had to be so hot, the space had to be so small, and that poor intelligent animal suffered so bad.
They also said that she had suffered skin burns over the years because there was nothing for to get under when the sun was beaming down on her and she couldn’t even swim down really. It’s so devastating
You can finally rest in peace Lolita it is a shame her freedom was not earlier you will always be remembered by many for being a very strong mammal well you were held and captured for many years
She surely showed serious signs of discomfort already fifty years ago - but who cares as long as the money flows?! I hope she is in a better place now!
They should have never captured her and brought her into captivity. She was unhealthy because of her small tank and horrible living conditions. Twenty feet? All by herself. So disgusted. She would have become stronger in the wild, she's a wild animal. That's where they belong. RIP Toki.
“Getting her trained for the move??? “ Did y’all train to move her after death ?????or did you expeditiously reMOVE her where she should not have been moved in the first place 🤷🏾♂️
Cruel to think of such a large and intelligent creature kept in a "bath tub" for 50+ years. And don't forget, there was once another whale in there with her (Hugo). It's like keeping a bird in a cage, just sitting there, in jail, for years or even decades simply for the pleasure of it's jailer. Odd that she would die just before she was slated to be returned to the sea, which would have been a very expensive process,......................very odd, indeed.
She was held captive & abused for 50 years. Shame on Miami aquarium. All for freaking money. Animal abuse is horrific & these practices must end once & for all.
My God!!! And here I was hoping we could rehabilitate Lolita and repent for our cruelty and greed by returning her to the wild like we did with Keiko back in the 90s. WTF is wrong with us humans.
very sad. she spent her life imprisoned in that tiny tank for the amusement of people who have nothing better to do. and then dies before ever getting the opportunity of being let free.
Sweet angel!!! You are free finally!!! 💕 What mankind did to you is disgusting and inhumane!!! 😬 You were a creature of the ocean and should never have been ripped from your family!!! 😠 Another example of actions by humans cause an animal to pay with it's life!! 😭💔 Shame on us!!! RIP Lolita 🌈💕 Swim free in God's heavenly ocean!! We will never forget you!! 💖
What a sad way to live and unfortunately leave this world. She never had a good life after she was caught. Miami Seaquarium should be ashamed of themselves. Someone should sue them.
This is sad. The greedy corporate aquarium debated and "planned" to move her too long, waiting until Lolita couldn't hold out any longer. What a disgusting act by this greedy aquarium. Keep wild animals in the wild. Now you're going to transport her remains to the ocean? What BS. Shame on you.,
And to think that Lolita's mother is still alive and enjoying the freedom these intelligent creatures deserve. A blatant example of animal abuse: she was kept in a small tank for 50 years for the sake of profits for the Miami Seaquarium. How can the owners enjoy that money? Having lived for 40 years close to the Seaquarioum, as a matter of principle, I never took my family there.
I found out about Lolita when the news of her release came out. And I let it slip my mind all these months. Now, I come back today to find this out… truly breaks my heart. You’re finally free now, Lolita. 💔 My heart is broken in millions of pieces aching thinking about your life.. please be at peace.
They were never gonna move her back. It was a publicity stunt. She was costing them thousands on thousands and wasent worth anything to the aquarium anymore. They couldn’t even clean her water for gosh sakes, and they are going on about how she meant so much to staff. I’m sure depression hit Tokee after her little dolphin friend passed away in July. Very sadly the only way she was leaving there was dead.
Horrible little enclosure. Violently stolen from her family. What a miserable life for this magnificent creature. Humans are shameful, greedy, selfish, pathetic sçųm.
Why does something tell me the reason they wanted to let her go is because they already knew she was sick and they didn’t want her to die in captivity so they wouldn’t get shamed about it, but it was too late anyways and she died sooner than they expected
Heartbreaking life living in a tiny filthy fish bowl after being taken from her family so many years ago 😢 Swim free now rejoining family members sweet girl Humans are selfish destructive beings destroying this planet for greed
The Whale Sanctuary Project should still continue and should be supported. I don’t honestly believe that relocating Lolita’s remains is the best use of precious funds, though.
human cruelty she can finally rest and go home, in spirit, I always cry and get depressed when thinking of these poor creatures. I am praying with all my heart that this practice can no longer continue. Humans can be so evil.
omg, I am so upset, poor baby, this is horrible, poor baby, poor whale ...... wtffff I was so happy to her prospects of being free. 😢 We dont deserve animals 😢😢😢😢 and all for what?!?!? RIP lolita
