Really eloquently explained and complemented with beautiful photography, what not to like about a soggy , grey outing in this wonderful landscape. Think I got the point (s) . Thank You Simon, what an inspiration !
Thank you so much, I wasn't sure if this style of video is something people would like. I do prefer filming everything when I'm out and about, but time and situation doesn't always make it possible. Appreciate your feedback. 🙂
Fabulous and spot on with your reasoning Si. Cracking set of images. Good job the wife took her umbrella for you 😉 I was nearly expecting to hear the "embrace the grey" phrase towards the end then. Wales has a sunny day for a change atb Al
"Embrace the grey", that's for lightweights Al 😁 "Embrace the horrendous" is the new cool. 😎 You heard it here first. Hey, I love that little umbrella! Sun in Wales, are you sure? ATB.
I'm also moved by the power and mystery of inclement weather. In fact, summer is a time when I'm less inspired to make photographs and video (unless hiding in the shade of the forest). Black and white also evokes more emotion. Both of these probably have to do with growing up in England in the 50s, because, as we know, "if the sun don't come, you get a tan from standing in the English rain."
Ah, summertime and photographers. Chalk and cheese. I prefer English weather in the summer months, and black and white. Growing up, black and white was all I knew. I studied black and white and shot on black and white. I was taught photography was about creating an emotional response, and an image without the distraction of colour was the preferred way. Cheers Ray!
I also like photographing in less than okay weather, but am I the only one who is totally not interested in black and white photography? It totally takes the immersion out of it for me, and with that the emotion.
That's an interesting perspective, I feel that black and white allows me to put more emphasis into emotion and mood. It's good to have different thoughts, approaches and views. And share them, so appreciate the comment. 🙂
