Even Blue Ridge Rock Fest didn’t screw up this badly. At least with Blue Ridge there were SOME understandable factors like the poor area in terms of the weather. Capulet Fest quite literally had to change location last minute for unknown reasons, that is embarrassing.

Wow! I worked somewhere like 150 shows for a touring band and not once was any show ever this disorganized. Kinda hope that the CT attorney general goes to town on the promoter because the culture of rip offs and cheating is far too prevalent in 2024. Colten's description of the experience was amazing.

My wife and I flew from Chicago for this festival. We love Major Moment so it was a no brainer for us to get tickets for Friday & Saturday and we would fly home Sunday morning. There were a lot of bands playing that we knew and some we didn't which is cool too. Thursday afternoon I was notified that the venue was changing to an hour away from where we had booked our hotel. Our flight was leaving around 15 hours later so we were pretty much going to be on the hook for our flight, hotel and rental car. We said screw it if the "festival" gets cancelled we will make the best of it and do some sightseeing since we'd never been to the Northeast before. We ended up not going Friday for a variety of reasons...mostly because we work nights and hadn't slept and some of the bands we wanted to see Friday weren't playing. I was checking social media to try and find out WTF was going on for Saturday...like Colten mentioned 10am was supposed to be doors opening ( as of late Saturday night ) I don't remember what time I saw the schedule change but we were getting ready to leave our hotel and I saw it was now noon for the doors opening. We still had an hour drive to Hartford so we left a short time later. I had bought the VIP parking pass for both days and read that they would honor those in the verrrrryyyy small lot next to the venue. We arrived around 1045 or so and actually saw the promoter and we asked when the parking lot opened and he said 11. We drove around for a bit and finally got in the lot. One of the highlights for us is we actually got to meet Major Moment ( SUPER NICE PEOPLE ) as saw them standing by their cars trying to figure out where & when they could unload their gear. The parking around the venue is limited and sketchy at best. So leaving all their cars really wasn't an option. Fast forward a little... it's now 1130 so we go get in line thinking the doors are going to opening soon...WRONG!!! I think VIP got let in at 1 and the rest of us around 115. There may have been 100-150 people waiting to get in.... Major Moment's set was great and we got to hang out with them at their merch booth off and on the rest of the night which was super cool. I want to thank them and all the bands that played because they gave their all

To push the event to the Webster was the height of idiocy. It's a local spot for me, and within the area, its known for being a horrible venue. Parking sucks. The neighborhood it's in is less than safe. The sound system there is atrocious. And it's generally a last resort venue for locals who want to see a band that isn't coming to NYC or Massachusetts.

This is is all just simply irresponsible. Whoever the promoter was, is seriously incompetent. Whoever was even staffing all of this, were all incompetent. Now they all just scatter away like roaches in hopes that they've dodged responsibility. Well that is until credit card companies and the AG drag them all back in. 55 Bands and 2 stages? And for 3 days? Dude, that's math for a disaster. I mean, yeah maybe for a festival. But I would've stretched that to 4 days at least. Then again, I wouldn't know because I'm thankfully not running festivals. I just know that promoting that kind of a show sounds like a huge stretch. The responsible thing at that point if you know that your original venue isn't going to work out isn't just to re-locate. But, ask the bands involved how many are okay with going to this new venue of choice. You're going to have to eat up the losses because you know not every act will want to be playing at such a small venue. Reschedule things if you must so you have time to sort this out. It's really not that hard but some of these people overshoot and sometimes shoot themselves in the foot that everything comes off incredibly shady. No excuses here.

"are all the people in CT awful?!" I'm from CT, and I assure you not all of us are terrible. I grew up in Hartford, went to so many shows at the Webster. Hell, my brother used to work there. But honestly, as nostalgic as that place is for me, it is definitely not a venue meant for a festival like that. If anything, they should've moved it to the Palladium or something, but as we all know the choice of venue wasn't the issue.

First the Blue Ridge Festival and now this? I know it's only two festivals out of dozens and the vast majority of them go relatively smoothly without any serious problems, but cases like these make me a bit gunshy about going to festivals in the future, at least for the remainder of this year. This one felt really scammy, though. Changing the venue to a smaller location at the last minute, then security stops a band's set and forces everyone to leave because they couldn't pay the rent for the place, and then the concert organizers' contact info mysteriously goes away because the Facebook page vanishes days later? This couldn't sound more fishy. All these poor people wanted was to go and see their favorite bands play, but instead they got robbed and the only band they had the misfortune of seeing was Skillet, which is nobody's favorite band. I hope refunds are given to all the concert goers and the festival organizers, if they're found, suffer criminal charges. This is just plain wrong.

I'm feeling fortunate for going to DWP festivals now (weather aside). As much as I don't like the lineups anymore, they at least know what they're doing. US festivals have become a disaster zone and I think I'm good with saving money. Especially if they keep trotting out bands like Skillet.
@princessolmeca2933
@princessolmeca2933 Месяц назад
Skillet's fanbase reminds me of Nickelback's fanbase. They have a massively large fanbase of tens of hundreds of thousands of fans, but nobody ever wears their stuff in public or talk about them in public. I see shirts and merch for every other band (Nirvana, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Def Leppard, etc.), but I have never caught someone wearing a Nickelback or Skillet shirt.
@dylanblurton1881
@dylanblurton1881 Месяц назад
@princessolmeca2933 I'm a Skillet fan mostly because I grew up with Skillet and I do own a few Skillet shirts that I have worn out in public and I have seen some other people wearing Skillet shirts in public a couple times. I personally don't care what people think of me if they see me wearing any of my Skillet shirts. If I see someone wearing a shirt of a band I don't like it ain't going to bother me.

@MajorMoment
@MajorMoment Месяц назад
it’s not a house FOH’s job to scan our packs, correct. in the festival setting where many bands are performing / setting up / breaking down at the same time, you are usually not allowed to scan AT ALL. that was the case at Louder Than Life last year. all info on wireless was requested from us in advance, and all frequencies and backup frequencies were sent for us to set up the night before. this is the way it should be done. wireless coordination is a thing. leading to Capulet we specifically brought up this question in our response to their advance (which btw covered the og venue and was never updated), and just like all other questions it was ignored. we would’ve resorted to scanning (doing so for a dozen of units / a few different systems takes time), but we were simply not given enough time to do a proper setup, we were the first band on this stage, under 20 mins to bring everything up on the stage (couldn’t do much pre-staging given the stage doesn’t have a ramp), set everything up ourselves, no chance to troubleshoot anything, no stage hands and barely a line check. it’s kind of a miracle we were able to get everything up and running so fast. well, almost everything. we had a whole video production ready for the video wall, that displayed nothing but the black screen on their end. again, no time to troubleshoot anything. all info about a fairly advanced production level and a 6-member lineup was sent to them in advance. if only their “talent coordinator” was doing what their job title suggests and communicated with artists, none of it would be a problem. lack of communication skills seemed to be the main theme of Capulet Fest in general.

What fan base is more understanding, more forgiving than metalheads? If there's "issues," we say, "damn, Anthrax couldn't play, so...hey, let's go catch Slayer, or Megadeth, or whoever..."
