Even if he calls them and presents it in a second video-he’s going to have to review what happened in the calls from this video. Yup, leased one back years ago before covid and after that buyout, I would never do it again -- just flushed money down the toilet. I spent 3 years of lease payments and had so little equity in the car. From now on, I look for a good car for a decent price that has a good maintenance track record... and then keep the car for at least 15-20 years. At that point, the extended warranty is worth the investment, since it's less than a year of payments to extend the maintenance costs years after it's paid off.

I had a fight with my dealer in Hawaii that tried to charge me $1000’s in fees for a lease buy out. It’s blatantly illegal and the lease contract is very clear there are no fees. I argued argued argued and eventually wore down the dealer to agree to a $500 dollar fee to just get it done. Complete BS and specifically not permitted in the lease contract. This is a rip off and extremely poor business practice by the dealer. Jim Falk Maui.

If you’re planning to do a lease buyout at a dealership, be sure to bring plenty of Vaseline. I just bought out my Kia K5 a year ago, and basically was not gonna go to a dealer unless I wanted to get it hard and heavy. I called Kia finance and they turned me onto a company named Tresl, who took care of everything for me in a painless, no rip off fashion. Saved thousands in dealer entitlement profit, and saved a lot of money on Vaseline too.

I guess it's the Wild West at US dealerships. I am a Vancouver Sales Association certified car salesperson here in British Columbia, as are all salespeople here, with a certification similar to realtors. We went through a comprehensive classroom course, followed by a written exam. Passing requirement is 80% . All dealers here are required to display the selling price on every vehicle in stock. If a customer has a complaint, they call the VSA, who then negotiate a settlement with the dealer. If the dealer refuses to negotiate, legal action is taken by the VSA.
@LafemmebearMusic
@LafemmebearMusic 18 дней назад
Sounds nice, but your own cbc news has done recent reports about how dealers there are getting around the VSA and still ripping people off.

Two types of state laws 1. where you have to come to dealership to complete your lease buyout 2. I live in NC you can just send in a check to your lender mine (Kia ) with your residual payoff In NC never go to dealership unless in contract states you must (Ford) who in this age and time can bump you payoff In NC the client owns the registration so no state inspection unless due SC is a state where you have to use a dealership Read you end of term on contract for fee due at end FYI if a dealership states aqq fee in most leases that was paid up front in lease. Dealer claiming an aqq fee is a "doc fee" in disguise

Why are you talking to the dealer and not the leasing company? When I bought out my lease I called the leasing company (a national Bank) 10 months before my lease was up. They added 10 months of lease payments to the residual, calculated the tax and I sent them a bank check. They sent me the paperwork and I had to go to the DMV to register the car and apply for the title which I still do not have 3 YEARS later! NY State will NOT accept the lease buyout letter from the bank.

In the age of cars being nearly disposable i will never understand the business model of trying to get an extra few thousand bucks by screwing someone over vs them being repeat customers and sending family/friends to buy as well. It's always been bad but its getting worse. Had a great experience buying in 2019 at a dealer, zero drama. Went in to trade in the same car. They gave me a price 6k over their online price, told me carvana trade in values were fake, and wouldnt return my own car keys to me. Now i am never going back, and telling everyone i know not to either.

Depending on the state, you may be able to skip the dealership and buy the vehicle out directly from the leasing company, which is might be what CarEdge was inferring when they suggested contacting Nissan financing. If not required by law, there really isn't a reason to go to the dealership. The dealership doesn't own the car, the finance company does and unless there is an open recall or the lease contract states otherwise this shouldn't be an issue. Make sure to get to the DMV as soon as you receive the title and prepare to pay any state taxes, titles and fees when registering the vehicle.

This happened to me in 2022 on a 2019 Nissan Altima after a three year lease. The first dealer quoted me a price nearly $8k over the contract price. Of course, I left the dealership. I told the second dealer upfront what happened at the first and they STILL did the exact same thing! This time a paltry $5K over the $15,525 buyout price. Imagine how pissed they were to write that deal. I paid the residual tax and the AGREED UPON $300 PROCESSING FEE and was on my way. The car was retailing over 25k at the time, because of covid of course, and even though I didn't really want to keep the car... it was cheaper to keep her. Nissan is as crooked as a dog's hind leg.

According to Nissan the only costs of buying your leased Nissan vehicle are the residual value, any lease end charges specified in the leasing contract, and state mandated taxes and fees. There are no dealer fees or acquisition fees involved. Clearly a F&I manager at a Nissan dealership knows this. For them to suggest otherwise is, indeed, criminal.

If you need an auto loan, you have to go through the dealer, which means you will pay at least a little more. For that extra charge, though, the dealer will be responsible for getting your plates, registration, and title. Not a small thing in certain states.

I paid off a lease and did it all myself. Never even talked to a dealership. Why would anyone go through a dealership to do this?

Funny that you have to pay an inspection fee for a vehicle you are buying. So do they penalize you for damage, then discount the buyout accordingly?

I've purchased off a lease and have only dealt with the leasing company and the new finance company. I don't quite see why the car dealership even comes into the equation. Here's some advice: Don't bring it to the dealer. Also, within the lease contract there is usually some fee for buying out the lease. You can call it an acquisition fee or whatever you want ... I really think that was what they were trying to refer to. Moreover, by alluding to making another purchase at the dealer, I think the understanding of what you were asking was confused here and there. Hey, I'm not a big fan of dealers by any stretch of the imagination, but to be fair ...

Call Nissan Finance. Or whoever finance company you used for the lease. No dealer necessary. I did that with VW credit.

From what i saw, CarEdge really shouldn't have to call corporate because they explained that the signed agreement is a legal document and the terms of that doc guide the transaction.... so, anything else the dealer tries to do is in violation of the contract. Therefore, nothing corp finance says should factor in... except to see if the manufacturer will be honest...and if so, what their reaction might be to finding out how the dealers are actually breaking contracts to rip off their customers. It could be messy... but, yah... do it, Zach!
