When you have ac and an insulated house it’s mild weather but yea I know what you mean I live in Georgia and one time when I was camping during a heat wave it was not only humid af but it was 100 degrees at night and 120 during the day and the sleeping bag and tent only held in more heat and humidity and made it worse overall
Shout out to Cracker Barrel for being so accommodating to folks sleeping in their parking lots, I've done it myself. You should at least buy a cup of coffee in the AM, their cheapest breakfast sandwich is 6 bucks.
@@zacksguitarhacks6390 the reason this is an unwritten rule is because, they do not have to allow you to use the parking lot. They could just not allow it.
I lived in my car for over a year. How to beat the heat is get out of the city and away from the blacktop and go to the country and park in woods by a lake. During the day u will see a 30 to 40 degree differ3nce and at night 20 to 30. Also I bought black mesh window covers. This is so u can keep windows down get fresh air. Nobody can see in and if keeps mosquitoes out
Yes very good advice. I'm not sure if it's only where I live but there is a lake and river campground right beside each other and the river is noticeably very much colder than the lake like they're literally 2 minutes apart as the dam only separates them but the river is very much colder (, which makes the temperature drop if you're a camping right beside the river.), I don't know if this is because of all of the water from the lake is released from the bottom going into the river which the bottom might be colder since there is no sunlight hitting it(these are just my personal experiences)
Back in summer 2016 I was homeless and sleeping in my 97 Camry with my dog Mochi. I got a membership at pf so I have a place to clean myself. Then I end up getting my car towed because I couldn’t pay the registration. End up moving at my friends house where I would regularly park few houses down because that was the only safe place I knew at the time. Then I started working at the same planet fitness. And eventually got back on my own feet. I’m in a much better situation now. Tough times don’t last only thought people do.
How’d you manage living in your car with a dog? Asking because I may be in a similar situation pretty soon and would greatly appreciate some pointers .
I was thinking the same thing. I thought it was common knowledge that if you stay at a place like cracker barrel that you're supposed to thank them for the free stay by patronaging the business
When I used to live in my car, I bought a portable misting fan on Amazon for about $60 (it's about $50 now). That was a lifesaver. I was sleeping in the car during summer when it was anywhere from 90 to 100 degrees outside at night, and that misting fan on high speed an intermittent mist was able to keep me cool while I slept and it was USB charger and battery operated. I also used it in the daytime while I was driving when it was even hotter because my AC compressor broke and was like $1,000 to replace. That damn fan saved my life that summer. Best purchase ever.
Depending on what car you have, a Check Engine light is either an issue or a minor inconvenience. 2000-2013 GM cars tend to be a mix, larger vehicles get them less often and for more important reasons. Japanese brands tend to have a good reason for that, and German brands with check engine lights on is just the experience of owning a german car.
@george5432 dry heat? Have you ever been to Texas. Humidity us usually about 50 percent.... we're not Arizona... Edit- just looked up our average humidity. It's %79 mam.
Love the content and the journey man! Definitely seek out an OBD scanner for your car to read those error codes. Any auto parts store should also get you a reading as well. Keep on keepin’ on, brother. Shower love spread love!!
Chances are he didn't even ask. He just thought he could do it and chances are he probably didn't even buy anything to eat. He just went in to use there bathroom.
“ so then I did this, and then I did that, after that something happened, after something happened I went back to what I was doing before” these videos are so dumb nobody cares buddy. Go get a job and contribute to society
Noticed the check engine light on&immediately called Mom&Dad to wire me a little extra fun money to go get that looked at..."No problem sweètie,it's on its way,be safe,we love you&please don't hesitate to call if you need more" 😂
@@RisingwoodsGal I guess they wanted to get yelled at? They really should've mentioned they ate there if they did so they wouldn't get yelled at by their comment section
I live in tropical Far nth Qld and it’s humid and gets hot even in winter it’s humid and approx 27 degrees Celsius . Summer can get to the 40’s but I still love that your living your best life !! Ps I also have similar usb charging fan !!
Please dont do this shit at Cracker Barrel. Its one of the last safe places that lets RVers and vanlifers sleep there. Buy breakfast or coffee and dont freaking brush your teeth in the bathroom.
My best buddy has an '09 Rio. While not the nicest or most reliable car by any means, they're definitely one of the simplest and easy to repair/maintain modern cars around. Changing plugs and coils on that thing is like a DREAM. So simple. However, I couldn't fit when I tried to car camp in my '15 Sonata so theres no way I could sleep in a Rio. Strong, brave man you are sir.
As much as I hate working out at planet fitness, they are kinda key to maintaining the freedom of this country and are a necessity to anyone who lives on the rode. I hope they never change their price. Really feels like something that would’ve been in the 70’s
Road trip/back-country hiking & camping in the Rockys/Montana, was the absolute best trip of my life. The fiance & I had an 04 Yukon XL so we had room to make a (very comfy) bed in the back. Did some incredible hiking & trails everyday, and then found random forests to park/sleep in (tiny bit creepy). But some of the most hardcore, narrow trails & cliffs/drop offs.. as well as unfathomable beauty & stunning views, (all the deadly wildlife up-close too)😅. And the night sky & meteor showers are so vivid, so bright, so close it feels like your in space. Its like you can see every star & every planet there ever was. Man I need to go back to that place😊
I lived in a garage for 6 months. I know the struggle. Planet Fitness was a life saver. I could shower and use the restrooms anytime. I have huge respect for those who live out of their car. The coldest days and the hottest days must hit extra heavy. And I know the inconvenience of cooking meals and finding places isn't easy.
ik 80 is still uncomfortable but try sleeping when it gets 110 bro. having been homeless before in the midwest ive dealt with both extremes hot and cold and its not easy. best of luck to you!
Ryobi has small fans battery powered. Very good coverage. I have two in my van. Buy the two batteries they and they give away a tool with it. . Fans are one of them
First he bummed off the CB bathroom and didn’t at least buy a coffe or sumn then he used a towel straight off the shelf from a Walmart..sick work in this video
I miss the car camping.... I did a trip from Houston Tx, to Springfield Ma. Alone, in a 2004 YELLOW Mazda 3, 5 SPEED...😟....All in all it was a good time....👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 keep it up bro!!! 💯 💯💯💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Remembered the time i slept in 110⁰F Heat. Heatstroke was around the corner.......glad i woke up before anything else happened, but i was somewhat dizzy at first.
Check Engine Light : it’s a issue with your exhaust system, might be one of the sensors… or also humidity can effect it . If you disconnect your battery ( negative connection for 30 seconds it will go out when you restart your car . If it comes on don’t panic the Engine is fine . Take your car on the highway at high speed for a good while 30 mins . Disconnect battery again and see what happens . If it comes on wait a few days and see if it resets . Now , you may burn a little more fuel than usual because one of the sensors is not working . People drive with the light on for years t doesn’t hurt the engine but may cost you more in fuel economy.
Hi..I have a great suggestion for you!! To stay cool at night..that cooler you have .get an ice pack they are 1$ at most places sometimes 2..but freeze it and at night place it under your neck or underarms and it will keep you cool!! My son does it all the time cuz it's so hot in out house in the winter❤😊
Bro, definitely get that check engine light diagnosed before too many more miles. Them vehicles are getting harder to replace man. Good luck and have a safe trip.👍🏻
Engine light may have been from power usage while the alternator wasn't charging the battery. If your battery went low, it could trip your ECM for an emission code.
