Great job on your part from diverting drivers away from the plane however as you said ppl were being stupid continuing to drive while clearly seeing the plane in distress and if you couldn’t see the plane then you shouldn’t be driving!

Intriguing problem. If you are flying alone for pleasure and have an emergency where do you draw the line at putting others at risk to save yourself. You could land on the freeway and risk causing a major accident', or you could take your chances landing in a field and hope you survive. Someone suggested Air Traffic Control may have advised the pilot that this was the best option. But must have been a tough call.
