I got in the car and it wouldn't start. It wouldn't crank or make a sound. So I did a few checks to discover it was a bad starter. Then I show you used a quick, easy trick to get the car to start without replacing anything.
I literally came out of the store today and my car wouldn’t start but the lights were coming on. I watched this video and hit the starter and my car started!! Thank you
you just saved my ass. My Z been sitting for 3 years. finally put the fuel pump in it. got start it no start. brass face hammer tap later its running! AFTER 3 YEARS ITS RUNNING! THANK YOU!
Oh man, this literally happened to me 2 hours ago. I got off of work and my car would not make a sound when I tried to start it. But the lights and radio worked. I called AAA and a man came and tried to jump it but nothing happened. It was almost midnight at that point and he got his flash light, looks around under the hood, then hit the starter. He told me to try starting my car again and it started. I asked him where the starter was because I had no clue 🤷🏽♀️. Now I’m home looking up prices and info on starters and found your video. I hope my car starts in the morning but now I know to try this first next time before calling for help.
My dad sold an old focus to some guy for $200 because it wasn't running. My dad was surprised when he showed up without a tow truck or any tools. He crawled under the car, kicked the starter, the car started right up and he drove away haha
LOL, I have sold vehicles with problems that were probably easy fixes too. Sold them real cheap. Didn't matter I was so frustrated I was ready to take them to a scrap yard, lol.
Thanks mate.. I was on my way to pick my wife and my little daughter..suddenly the same thing happened..The motor workshop was not nearby so I had to go through youtube as I didn't had no other option..your idea works... You are a genius 😎😎
OMG!!! I always go into fixing cars with the worst attitude so when I saw this video I thought pshh no way. IT WORKED! Thank you thank you. I just save $140 for diagnostic.
Thank you so much! Went to drop a buddy off today, car wouldn’t start and smacking the starter with a hammer totally worked! Was able to get a new one and install it in less then 45 minutes! Now I am safe at home and can get to work in the morning! Can’t thank you enough! 🤘😤🔥
Dan...👏👏👏👏👏🤝🤝❤️❤️ thank you mate 🙏 Last night toyota didn't start. I watch you video and spot on. Hammer a few hits and start straight away . Thanks for you help. ❤👍
That's a very old trick to free up a sticking solenoid. That's not something you want to keep relying on, though. That's a "I'm going straight to the auto parts store to buy a new or reman unit and I'm gonna leave it running while inside" saving grace!
I've heard of hitting the starter, but this time I didn't have to. However- thanks to you walking thru the possible issues- I was able to discover that the wires to my starter had come loose! One of my battery cables was pretty loose too. So I didn't have to tap the starter this time- but thanks to you, I did get my car started this morning!! 😊
You saved me from being stranded bro you cannot understand how much I laughed when I was like "oh yeah I'm SO sure hitting it is gonna fix this" and then it worked, Speechless, and grateful!
Thanks for this video man... It really helped me. Went to repair my vehicle was stuck in a mud. Vehicle was towed in the process a wiring connect to the starter motor got loosed, hence vehicle cud not start. Was scared due to no competent technician around... And then your 3mins video came to the rescue. I just checked around the starter motor and noticed a loosed wire, of which I fixed. Thanks man.
This is a good trick that has worked many times - a couple pointers if I may - when putting your jumper cables on the car - make sure you put the ground on a solid engine ground, not the body as in your demo. As you can see, the area you clamped the ground to is part of the engine mount on the body side - which separates the engine from the body with rubber. This will force the current through small body grounds elsewhere to make it to the engine. This can cause those small wires to burn up/melt as well as simply prevent an effective jump start. Also, judging by the size of the starter you are tapping with a hammer, it appears to be a permanent magnet starter. These magnets fracture easily when hammered so gentle taps only folks!! Thanks posting the video!
This actually works folks, I literally just tired it, I charged my battery 110% still same thing, found this video, and started banging that start with a visgrip lol, it’s actually work your an effen genius. Saved me lots of money. 100% worked for me
Bro that’s not a fix. It’s to get the car to turn on so you can get home or take it to the shop. This doesn’t save you money, you gotta get that fixed still
@@lr6187 oh ok, yeah this happened to me like 4 months ago, only difference was that I didn’t tap the starter, the car just randomly started about 2 hours later, it hasn’t happened since then. But it does worry me it might happen again.
My Audi A4 2.0t 2009 No start on this moment don’t even crank and I don’t have engine light on someone know what could be the issue please. Thanks a lot ‼️
I so wanted this to come true for me in our 2005 Honda Pilot and it did! I tried jumping it and nothing. Checked the wiring connectors and they were good. Tried 4 love taps with a small hammer and whoa la, it started up.
Oh wow, I'm having a not start problem with my van and I tested my battery and it's good so I will now try tapping the starter and see if that works for me.. thanks a million I will let you know if that works.
I love uuuuuu! I was stranded overnight and went thru hell troubleshooting and was left feeling like a idiot. Then saw your video the next day and ughhh it started. Bro thank you
Thank you Mr. for the above advice.. I have 2 problems chevrot venture 2004 1 four months ago until now I changed the 2dinamo because of the damage of the regulator Is it because of the battery or is there something to do with it.. Question 2 When the engine rotates, there is a return and weak torque of the engine, the coil was faulty, knowing that it Good, and my check engine lights up and then turns off all the time. Can I find any solution for you and any video.. Thank you very much
Going to try this. Ive been trying to fix a harness that run behind the abs module as well that had about 15 of the 20 wires knicked or cut. I still can't figure out for sure if it's the auto trans harnesses. I'ma complete novice
When he pulled out the hammer, I burst out laughing. It’s such a cliche that hitting machinery can somehow get it to function correctly… but if it works, it works! Lol
Mine started doing this a few months ago Pretty much always got it to start then I had t jump it , I bought a new battery fixed a bit it still does it my guess I need a starter I’m to lazy and I just start it myself all the time pretty much know how to do it
Right after replacing the wiper motor switch, I now have a no crank situation on a 2000 VW Golf, manual transmission. I got the rear wiper to work and then buttoned it up only to have the car refuse to crank. I've narrowed it down to no voltage getting to the starter solenoid. When I bypass, putting voltage directly to the starter solenoid, the engine cranks just fine. I show no continuity between the starter solenoid wire at the solenoid and the relay PIN 87 with key turned on or off.. So while I do get 12 volts when I turn the key at terminal 30 it's apparently it's not getting where it needs to go to the solenoid. I also tried sending voltage down the terminal at 87 and still nothing which makes sense if there's no continuity there. Unless there's some other circuit anti-theft or the like which would confound these tests? Or maybe it's just old wiring or chewed through broken somewhere? Is the fix to find a place through the firewall to run a new wire?
Ya happened to me in rain this am. Tapped it with hammer lol weak start but started lol 😆at 830 Am. Forked out 100.bucks at auto zone for starter now I'm back on the rd again 😆🤣😂...I'm happy 😊again see yas
Hey I have a nissan qashqai 2014 and its doing the same thing... i put the battery on charge overnight and didn't start so I will try your tricks and then let you know if my car starts up and btw do you have discord where I can contact you for more information?
I get a clicking sound...then get Jumpstart and it works til l turn off. Was told cranking power weak?? What can I do about this or do I need to get a whole new battery?? Appreciate you responding back. Ty and God bless you
I had an identical problem. I did a hot start moved car into garage. next time I did a non-working hot start. I replaced the starter. But old starter still worked. Battery full charge. Must be something to do with power. I found an old wire tap from a jury rigged battery cable end. I disconnected the wire and with some help from someone who thought this wire was the problem he cleaned the wire with vinegar to remove oxidatin. He then installed another new terminal, crimped it tight. When we tested it -- that was the solution.
Great video. I checked everything; battery, fuses, starter, and even bought new alternator and starter. Car still inoperable. Time for dealership, which will definitely put me in dire straights.🥺🥺
Great video! Unfortunately, after finally finding where the starter is for my 2014.5 Camry SE and tapped it (with a heavy wooden walking stick as I couldn't reach it with a hammer due to where it's located, under the air intake / air filter box), it didn't seem to help. Not sure if I have to really smack that thing hard perhaps?? Lol. It seems in line with what you mentioned about there being no sound. My battery is recently replaced within the year, and the radio, headlights, windows, etc. all turn on. However, when I turn the key, it is near dead silence save for a low hum or hiss, but nothing more. Tried turning it on in neutral but nothing either. No whirring sound, no clicking sound, nothing. Guessing it's the starter based on this video, though not 100% certain if there's a chance something else is loose or not connecting in a place I cannot see. All thoughts are welcome.
You might need to have someone else to turn the ignition key while tapping the starter motor. Tapping only did not help me either. Tapping and turning the key at the same time did the trick.
OMG! I found the starter & hammered it for 10 times like the way you did, when i successfully started my Hilux i just couldn't believe it! Thank You So much!!!!
Let me share my own experience. My Kia soul car was grounded for like three days without being able to start, tested the battery and it was fine, dash board came on normally, the head lights and the car horn were all working good. A friend told me to shift my transmission to Neutral "N" with my foot on the brakes and then start the car. When I did that my car engine came and steaming, I left it on idle for 25mins and that was it. Thought I should share this with you guys reading me. I was about to hire a toying car to carry my car to a mechanic's garage thinking my starter was damaged.
AM HERE TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR IDEAS I DID THE TRICK BY TAPPING ON THE STARTER AND SURE ENOUGH IT STARTED RIGHT UP. . WOULD YOU RECOMMEN THAT I MAY HAVE TO CHANGE MY STARTED? I DID HAVE IT TESTED NOT TO LONG AGO THEY SAID IT WAS GOOD. . OR JUST HAPPENED TO GET STUCK. .. so will I need a new one not ?
you may or may not. If your wires were good, and tapping the starter fixed your problem, you should be prepared to buy a new starter at anytime. i would start looking for one just in case...sometimes the starter tap only works for one last start...
I agree. My starter only lasted a few more days and then tapping it did not work anymore. I also got tired of crawling under the car to tap the starter each time. It wasn't very fun at the grocery store. Be prepared to buy a new one.
@@dan_can update I bought a BRAND NEW starter and now it starts even faster then before. . Always go with brand new part's of anything that for your car. .
Hi everyone, I've put a new alternator , new starter motor and new battery on my Ford Focus 2007 1.8 diesel and the car is just making a click noise when i turn the key and won't start , any advice appreciated please, thank you for reading.
