In most cars alternator generates electricity from 13,5V - 14,2V, but car LED lamps were made to operate at 12V. Excess current leads to overheating, which means lumen loss accompanied with an occasional flicker and finally burning out. Attaching or soldering 68 to 90 Ohm resistor should solve the problem. A little less light but significantly longer lifespan.

Really interesting the array of bulbs available. Personally I'm looking for a nice 194 style bulb for my wife's old Saab convertible. They're the interior lights that come on when you open the door, and at night it's so dim I can't see wtf I'm doing in the car, so I put in some Phillips LED bulbs about two years ago. They're quite a bit brighter but were driving me nuts as they're about 7000 kelvin and look very blue. Because the bulbs have really widened in availability as of late I've looked into some 3000k bulbs. The crux of the matter: I need a 194 bulb that a) has most of the light output at the *same spot* as a normal incandescent 194 bulb, and b) fires most if not all of the LEDs at a 90 degree angle to the flat bladed insertion prongs of a 194 bulb. The issue so far isn't finding a bulb that fires all or most in one direction, the issue has been that most bulbs that fire light at the same point as the filament of a 194 bulb is on the same plane as the connector itself (which just fires the light inside the housing not down into the car). 1:13 in the video is a good example of what I mean. Hopefully though I'll be able to keep looking around or make a custom solution that'll be nice and bright, I don't like fumbling around in the dark car. :(

Nice comparison! Unfortunately the most LEDs gonna flicker and then burn out. It's hard to find reliable LEDs, even in 2018! The best luck so far I had was with W5W LEDs of the brand NAO from Aliexpress. The have the same size as the original W5W incandescent bulb.

With the last one it says 7000+ K but it's clearly warmer than all the others so that must be an error.

In my experience the COB lamps burn out early. Lamps with a lot of SMD leds are the way to go.

LED's do lose power well before burning out. So an LED bulb claiming 50,000 hours would typically lose a little over 1% every 1,000 hours. Worth considering. A single LED will NOT be the last bulb you buy regardless of the marketing. You'll likely use another LED in that same socket.

Hello. Great video. Can you help me with something? I have Toyota Yaris '09 2/3 doors. When I wanted to put led bulbs in my indoor roof it didnt work. But in dads car it did. It was like I need thiner leds for them to be put in the socket?

which one of these light will help light up the daytime running light strip on the edge of the front headlight on the 2004 G35 coupe. i need a super bright light that can reach the strip all the way down or even if its half way, it got to be bright. i tried the brightest i can get at atuozone and its not really worth it. some of those looks really bright and especially the one from 1:29 to the one on the end of the video , but i need video of it on a Gs before i am convince enough to buy it.

Good review but, your kelvin temperatures are false, for some of us it's important, i'm searching really white led with to tint of blue. And for the 5 SMD 5050leds, some are good and no burn after some months, but they are more expensive

What do you mean by the "SMD BURNS OUT"? I just got a pair of Smd leds for my parking light and there's a million small leds on each of them so they should burn very brightly, just curious what that Con meant.

I have never heard or seen an LED SMD burn out. LED's last forever. I've had wires and connectors corrode and fail but not the actual LED bulb.

Can't seem to find the second to last one on ebay anymore, at least they do sell them but they are a thinner version without the large aluminium body?

Your colors are all off... 4000k = yellow -brightest 4500k = yellow/white -best performance 5000k = white -best performance 6000k = whitish blue -lower performance 6500k = bluish white -starts getting dim 7000-8000k = blue -dimmer 8000-12000k =blue-dark blue, very dim
