Blurryface is Tyler’s Alger ego, all the negatives of him, all of his insecurities and demons compact into a sort of character where Tyler has explained that he created blurryface so that he can come face to face with and address his issues more directly. Even though he’s a great artist he’s insecure about his voice and his ability to play instruments (hence the black paint around his neck and hands) he’s explained that whenever he’s feeling insecure he feels as if he’s suffocating and the only way he could physically show what that felt like was with the black paint. Also blurryface later evolves into Nico in their newest album Trench (he was also the driver in heavydirtysoul)

Believe it or not Tyler actually had his car radio stolen in college and the song is about his experience and how without the music he's alone with his thoughts.(usually not a good place)

Car Radio is from the album Vessel which pre-dates Blurryface, so I don’t think that concept is really represented here. The album deals a lot with depression and suicide and i think the balaclavas are used as a representation of their insecurities. Awesome reaction, really enjoying watching you guys! When he was in Columbus OH, he performed Car Radio the “Whoa” (8:34 the back ground whoa’s) still continued way after the song ended, the stadium was black and it was like almost an homage to our negative shit or comforting/prayer to each other bout the negativity we’ve been through. It’s amazing.

I feel like the mask is more an equivalent of what they now call jumpsuit. A mask they put on to protect themselves and to hide their deepest and darkest thoughts. In Guns For Hands in the beginning of the video Tyler hands Josh one of the masks and puts one on himself and says "They won't know it's you, you can take it off when you feel ready" or something along those lines. In Car Radio, he put on the mask when he went out on the stage and acted super confident and hype even tho he was just a moment ago alone with his thoughts and depressed (I could pull the steering wheel, that's pretty fkn dark), and then after the crowd leaves he's back to being quiet and calm, takes his mask off because now he's himself again, and then falls backwards, sort of showing that he's back in his depressive state. I mean I could be wrong but I'm a massive TOP-fan and I feel like I've gotten to know how Tyler's metaphores work, call it a semi-educated guess HAHAHA. Really appreciate you guy's TOP-reactions :) EDIT: The falling back in the end could also mean that the fans help him stay up, and away from the dark thoughts. I’m super late, but I think this song is probably their most powerful. Not only because of the lyrics and the emotion behind what Tyler is saying (a big lyric piece people often overlook is “I could pull the steering wheel”, ie an admittance to suicidal thoughts) But also because of the way they prove their point. During the softer, piano parts of the song Tyler is singing with lyrics, making you think, representing times without a ‘car radio’ so to speak, and then when the beat drops, there’s hardly any lyrics, but you’re not thinking anymore. You’re focusing on the music and just letting the excitement and adrenaline pump through you, and to me that’s really powerful.

That's why people who can relate with TøP music always saying Tyler helped them coped with their mental health issue. His lyrics are for those who cannot tell people what's on their mind. Tyler does it for us ..🤘🤘

We were there! We flew to Columbus, Ohio cause it was the last show on this tour at the Pavilion there. we were told about the video.There was scaffolding everywhere & of course cameras. You'd think it would take a long time but everyone cooperated. Nah man. Crowd surfing is fun and super easy. I usually just tap on a strong and huge looking dudes shoulder and ask him to pick me up and throw me to the crowd. The people know what to do instantly. They will just carry you to the front, as if it were natural. (Well, at least in my concerts they do. Granted, I go to a lot of rock/metal/punk concerts. I don't really expect pop concerts to do the same lol)
