Car review in a few | 2018 Honda Civic

After seeing them in person, the sedan is definitely better looking in my opinion.

I understand the civic has been re-assessed by NCAP after improvements to rear airbags and it now has a five star NCAP rating

since this review the Civic was updated and retested by EuroNCAP and got the 5-star rating

Good review. I agree with you on that awful upholstery material! We drive the "RS" spec in NZ and are really happy with it, love the handling and the 1.5T motor. As I'm using android auto the infotainment system is fine and simple, also great 12 speaker 450W sound system. In terms of looks, yes there seem to be plenty of haters more so in the UK, but I love the way it looks and certainly stands out among the more conservative offerings from the opposition. One question, what happened to the reviewer before you?

I drove the Civic when it arrived in the UK. I agreed with your original thoughts and bought a Golf GTI for less money than the Civic. I think you'll know which I think is the better car.

The Civic gets a high 5 star safety rating not 4 its one of the safest cars in it class

A fine review, entertaining too, in a way the new Top Gear tries too hard to be. And the styling of the Civic tries too hard also. Not ugly as such, but just OTT to be different and 'bold'. Which is a shame for an otherwise very good, and British made(hurrah) car..

Seems the HR-V is a better buy.

Uncouth styling both in and out and 1 litre engine is noisy and vibey at the top end. Mazda 3 is the better car.

You were right first time, Mark. It's hideous. Utterly hideous. Good car though. It wouldn't put me off buying it, though. I'd be sat inside the monstrosity, so I wouldn't have to look at it most of the time.

It is an ugly car, in fact every new Civic seems to be uglier than the one before it. This one is fussy and lardy-looking, but that doesn't prevent it being good mechanically. Not really for me I'm afraid - looks cheap, and it's not.
