Probably a waste of time posting this, but I sure miss J. D. Kelly and his reviews. Been a few years since his latest. His enthusiasm is infectious and always brings a smile. Wish he would come back.
@Newman8881 - Not true at all. I know because I own both! They are both very well turned out, though I think the Exoto is a touch above the CMC in detail and parts count. Both tires and rims appear more accurate and to scale than CMC's.
@@albertkelly7129 - Well, I guess that's one way to say it. What I don't like about Exoto is the B.S. game that they play with the "pricing" on their out of production models - totally ridiculous. On the plus side of Exoto, I had ordered the Porsche 917-30 Can Am car when it first was announced, and the model wasn't available for one year after they said it would be. They sent me the gift set - one complete model and one rolling chassis (same serial #) to make up for the long delay. I thought that was pretty cool, and that gift set is worth some serious money today. No single company is without some flaws, but I really like my collection of 23 CMC models.
@@Loulovesspeed im late to the game so i dont know about exotos practices but i have read reports the boss is a douche lol. what i do know is i saw a direct detailed comparo of the cmc and exoto sharknoses and i couldnt believe my eyes that a company could outdo cmc so comprehensively. i have a few cmc's so i know what they do and basically if you take exoto XS out of the equation they leave evryone else for dead so yeah i decided to get the exoto sharknose which is probably the greatest 1:18 scale model ever produced. to think the height of 1:18 model building happened over a decade ago is a blight on the industry.
@Nic Maennling - "Museum Quality" is a term used to describe an extremely detailed and realistic object that a museum would likely display. As an example, if the museum was for the history of F1 cars specifically, they wouldn't accept a $50 diecast car with 25 parts - it would look too amateurish and unrealistic to display. However, a highly accurate, extremely detailed scale model of well over 1,000 parts, such as this one from CMC, would very much qualify for display.
