CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Duane (Bill Duke) threatens Lonnie (Ivan Dixon) with a gun for the money, but Duane talks him down.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Michael Schultz directed this kinetic, hyperventilating comedy (scripted by Joel Schumacher) concerning the crazed events that go on within a single 10-hour period at a Los Angeles car wash. The cast of colorful car-wash employees includes Lonnie (Ivan Dixon), an ex-con; Duane (Bill Duke), a militant black activist; and Lindy (Antonio Fargas), an obnoxious homosexual. Sully Boyar plays Mr. B, the frazzled car-wash owner who has to deal with his screwball employees along with his over-educated slip of a son, Irwin (Richard Brestoff), who quotes Mao and wants to radicalize the workers. Also along for the wash and wax are Miss Beverly Hills (Lauren Jones), with a wild assortment of wigs; Marsha (Melanie Mayron), the distracted car wash secretary; a mad bomber (Prof. Irwin Corey), who is terrorizing the neighborhood; and Daddy Rich (Richard Pryor), the founder of the Church of Divine Economic Spirituality, who sports a gold limousine. Danny de Vito, Brooke Adams and others were originally in the cast but their scenes were ultimately deleted.
CREDITS:
TM & © Universal (1976)
Cast: Ivan Dixon, Bill Duke
Director: Michael Schultz
Producers: Art Linson, Don Phillips, Gary Stromberg
Screenwriter: Joel Schumacher

@@beaujac311 Ivan Dixon was Kinchloe. Here's his Wikipedia about that role. Hogan's Heroes In his best-known role, Dixon appeared as POW Staff Sergeant James "Kinch" Kinchloe in the ensemble cast of the television sitcom Hogan's Heroes. "Kinch" was the communications specialist, a translator of French, and Hogan's default second in command. Dixon played Kinchloe from 1965 to 1970, the only one of the series' long-time cast not to remain for the entire series. Kenneth Washington replaced Dixon for the last year of the show's run, as a different character filling a similar role

I don't think "talented" is the right description for Abdullah. More like smart and passionate, but that passion gets in the way of common sense. It's true he's undervalued, but robbing the car wash was going to get him into more trouble. That's why Lonnie, an ex-con, talked him out of it.

Making you believe you cannot succeed is the REAL way the white liberals hold you back and keep you down.

But sadly many of us dropped our core values, tridional family, and it's importance, working together, and less of a clown show as the Abdullah character was talking about. I once went off on some friends years ago, because all they wanted to do was get together, clown, and mocking each other, especially on me. We were in our early 30s and all that laughing, grinning, and what not was enough for me. Anyway, there's a ton more to it, then I listed, as I'm more than sure you already know.

there's something I don't understand was he crying because he got fired or was there a deeper meaning of why he was crying

I think he's crying because things are just not working out and he can't make sense of the world. He feels powerless, etc. He wants revenge. I'm not black, but just trying to put myself in his shoes for a minute. Just screened this movie tonight. Especially considering the times this movie was made in. This comedy had real balls to put such a serious scene at the end of the film, no less.

He was a proud, intelligent black man who was forced to work at a job that was really beneath his aspirations and abilities because of the bullshit system we have in America. He saw the hypocrisy of the American Dream, particularly as it applied to him, and he was disgusted by the way some of his own people demeaned themselves to try to get ahead within that system. He'd had enough, and he simply couldn't take it any more without almost losing it.
