Carbohydrates don't make you fat, and I'm tired of all the misinformation being spread around the internet saying they do. We're basically at the point right now where the masses of unthinking people are just routinely claiming that "carbs make you fat" which is a bad sign.
Nobody seems to want to take personal responsibility for overeating or for eating a nutrient-void diet - the real reasons why people get fat and develop insulin resistance.
Some natural compounds that I mention in the video for how to naturally reverse insulin resistance are Berberine - examine.com/su...
Cinnamon - examine.com/su...
And chromium - examine.com/su...
We've got all of these together in the correct dosages in our UMZU supplement Sensolin - umzu.com/produ...

As a Keto youtuber, a Keto lifestyle advocate, a person doing Keto and a person who helps others with their Keto issues. I will agree with you. People eat too much, people eat junk food etc etc. It's bad eating habits, lack of exercise etc etc etc that make people fat. Having said that because people are just being people Keto helps a lot of people and a lot of people do feel good or better on it than when they consume their 'regular' diets. So in a nut shell, different strokes for different folks and I think everyone has to see what works for them. At the end of the day I think it's all about eating real food, good food and finding what works for you as a person.

Yeah I agree with, I've tried to go on keto diet numerous times hearing here and there about how efficient and practical for some people, so I started to reduce my carbs intake, it felt perfect intially afterwords i became very lazy, I wake up on headaches every morning, my concentration decreased, my overall performance went down within time, after that I realized how important carbs are for my metabolism and how people metabolism is different it's like a fingerprint, what works for someone is not necessary to be working or can be applied to you diet, Eat what you feel comfortable eating, listen to your body and especially to your cravings, craving has to do with your body needs and nutrients for optimal fonction, to conclude keep it simple and don't exaggerate.

Syris of Lemuria Yes, it increases IGF-1 ( especially Dairy proteins ) and M-tor in our bodies - a cancer bomb , amongst a lot of health problems come from that. Short term Keto results - even over a period of a few years -ultimately can do you great harm - regular Keto is not cool & health promoting in the long run. Cycling in unrefined carbs and out of ones diet ( if you feel to do Keto in the least ) -one can do it on plant foods too on & off. We can regulate our hormones though more -& excess blood glucose -by eating whole plant foods & if one must eat animal proteins - try to keep it under 10% of ones diet as a whole. Having a good amount of time -digestion & regulation of blood insulin between meals is very important too. 12 hour fasts at night is very important. It’s when our bodies naturally encourage cleansing & cell repair.

Hmmm maybe the water myth interfered with your health. Too much water can kill you. Your body tells you when to drink. Over hydrating removes all your micronutrients and can lead to a heart attack or other fatal symptoms.

Mordion - it increases blood cortisol a lot - fools with thyroid regulation -that’s why. I had extreme anxiety , depression & insomnia because of this on keto. I was doing it to try & help RA-it made it worse. Just eating whole high nutrition.plant foods -based -with no dairy especially helped with only small amounts of animal proteins like eggs or tuna fish once in a while. I am much less inflamed now & calmer or steady in my emotions.

I've lost 45 pounds by reducing (not eliminating) carbs. I stay away from sugar as much as possible and occasionally fast. I'm 69 and was on medications for type 2 diabetes and hypertension. I managed to get completely off all medications for going on 2 years now. I feel great, my libido is fine, I have plenty of energy and I've noticed a definite improvement to my arthritis. It is an easy and healthy food regimen to follow. The thing I've noticed the most is that eating carbs make you crave more carbs. With the keto focus, sometimes I forget to eat. Your argument might be stronger if you were not trying to sell a product.

I am 6'4", 245 lbs and have experimented with my body on different diet platforms to see how my body reacts. As a 20 year gym goer (I am 35), fitness minded and health minded person, my body has a stable and good baseline. On keto, I felt lethargic, sick, irritable, and my workouts sucked (I also gained weight that didn't feel like healthy weight)! I then switched to HIGH carbs (350 + grams a day), moderate protein (170 grams a day) and low fat (25 grams a day of healthy sourced fats) and within 3 weeks I am down 3.5% body fat, feel amazing, my lifts are on point and explosive and I am sleeping great. I don't buy the Keto hype because I have followed it and it failed. Triggering your body in to a survival mode as a daily modus operendi is not natural, nor is it healthy.

@@_christopherwalker most people that feel better on a ketogenic diet is because they removed all the carbs from; sugar, candy, ice cream, cakes, refined carbs like pasta and white bread, basicly high calorie foods without nutrition like u said, and not because they stopped eating carbs. almost no one that goes keto came from a high nutrition carb souce like whole food plant based diet.

My understanding is that insulin resistance is caused by other factors as well: stress, injury, illness, childbirth and lactating, sleep dysfunction, fertility medications, antidepressants, antibiotics, other meds, and their causes. It’s not always just a bad diet.
@meyou7041
@meyou7041 5 лет назад
Insulin resistance doesn't necessarily come just from having too many calories in your diet... It comes from being present in your bloodstream far too long... Insulin is produced anytime carbs are eaten. I'm not saying no carb is the way to go, but reduced carbs equals reduced insulin, thereby reducing your resistance to it over time

if you have chronic heart burn due to digestion of carbs it most likley because of the natural decrease in hda(hydrochloric acid) which is a stomach acid that breaks down your food with various enzymes. which is produced less as we age. may i suggest a few things 1) consume more probiotics and pre biotics 2) supplements i.e an enzyme booster 3) apple cider vinegar in the morning to increase the hda.

Honestly, I did keto for a while, it wasnt painful, and I did have energy, but recently I've been eating quite a bit of fruit and whole grains. I do feel more energetic, but I think the most important thing here is: everything in moderation. Completely cutting carbs or fats or proteins just isn't good. Not consuming the right amount of high quality calories is the fundamental problem I think.

Call 911 For Cookies Nail on Head... just think how man would eat in his natural state. The main source of fuel we have always craved is Meat. As with any animal hunts are low on the success rate. So what do you eat between hunts ? You eat what is available and what is highest in calories so you can hunt good again. If you don’t have that you’d eat the most abundant food sources. In between hunts would be fasting if there wasn’t enough food sources or starvation. So in general we’d all be eating a wide variety of foods to keep feed with meats being our main goal. When we would get meat we’d gorge ourselves on it. Also remember fruits are seasonal and spoil quickly. Nuts are seasonal but maintain naturally for long periods of time. Hunter Gatherer food for thought.....

Every mammal has 80% or more fat in their diet. Even herbivores - they ferment the fibre in their giant digestive systems, synthesizing short chain triglycerides - fat. Gorrilas only eat leaves - thanks to fermentation their diet is over 80% fat. Cows (grass-fed) are even higher at about 100% - they have 4 stomachs to do all the fermentation. Us? We have one tiny stomach and underdeveloped caecums. We can't synthesize fats very well and it usually ends with fatty liver and even fatty pancreas.

It's annoying how people who don't know what they are talking about latch on to one little statement, and then take it to extremes. They hear 'you can eat red meat and bacon!' And suddenly they think all ketoers eat is meat and butter. They hear 'limit simple carbs to lose weight,' and they think 'carbs are evil don't eat any ever again!" And then that's what other, even less informed people hear, and before long, the opinion of a very safe, very natural diet is being trashed as extreme. A proper keto diet is full of whole, natural foods. Leafy greens, vegetables, nuts and seeds, fresh meats, eggs, etc. It's a diet of cooking natural foods that you process yourself in your kitchen. Not eating boxes of preservatives. It's very 'clean'. And once you get through the intervention phase (where you cut most carbs out so that you can use up all that stored fat) you eat lots of healthy NATURAL carbs. But you will only rarely eat white flour or refined sugar ever again, because those are the carbs that get you in trouble.

Yes! I also noticed that I'm not getting fat while eating high carb intake. Although I'm only eating whole, one ingredient, unprocessed carbs. I exercise and I do consistent IF. I only get water weight and that's about it. I'm doing prolonged fasting to boost my metabolism and lose fat. And as long as I keep to real foods, I won't get more insulin resistance and I'll never have to worry about getting fatter. All in all - real carbs are hellawa good for us. (Stuff like unprocessed oatmeal, brown rice, buckwheat, etc). Make sure the carbs are high in fiber and without added salt or sugar.

Ketosis does not mean weight loss. That’s what most don’t understand. It is all about caloric deficit no matter what. You can be in ketosis and eat on a caloric surplus and guess what? You will gain fat! Same thing with carbohydrates, if you eat plenty of carbs, as long as you are in a caloric deficit, you will loose fat, and you’re not in ketosis. I think it all depends on the individual. Some like to eat more fats than carbs. And that goes the other way around too. It’s just a preference. Stick with what works for you. And yes, being in ketosis is a form of starvation signaling. You know how else you will be in ketosis? Not eating, fasting.

I'm on a low carb ketogenic diet. I weigh 164 lbs and have been eating about 4,000 calories per day for the past month and I am not gaining any weight. I'm pretty sure that I'm eating a calorie surplus. I work out two days a week, am strong, and have plenty of energy. I have exactly the same experience regardless of whether I eat 1500 calories per day or 4000. At 1500 calories per day I was eating less than 10g carbs per day, and at 4000 calories I'm at about 50g per day. (It's hard to eat 4000 calories without getting more carbs) Do you know that they're putting sugar in bacon? I've found a bacon that's sugar free at Raley's, Costco, and Whole Foods. Safeway and Trader Joe's does not have sugar free bacon.

Just because you agree doesn't mean it's right. He's not wrong but he's not right. It's based on genetics and stomach biometrics what you and you blood line are more adapted to. If you are mostly eastern blood like like Irish England Italy Spain. Those have history of carbs. Just not too much and alot can have fillers and sugars. I'd say just lower carbs like anything a bit goes along way. Just make it work for you. Don't be fooled I do better with corn based carbs. Not wheat. I had to do keto because of auto immune but do higher carbs than it said. Everyone isn't the same shape or size. And we are far different from the inside. Just eatingnhealth works. Don't do salads with letus use cabbage and spinach mainly. Letus is mainly water based which can cause fat conservation instead. Calories are good just not too high. Mainly high protien and get a scale for your food that will work with your phone and track it for you. You'll You'll able to eat more freely. Just don't skip working out and don't over eat. That's the real key. Eat what works for you. But too much fruit can make people fat too depending on whom it is. Just do what works for you.

@@franciscocv1995 I agree. I mean, some people are successful with keto, and some are successful following the thermo diet and some are successful on a vegan/plant-based diet (true plant based, read below what's the issue). I will agree that seed oils are bad, HDL and LDL work together (LDL itself isn't bad), sodium is good (salt-to-taste, you'll never get too much, listen to the body), Saturated fat and Cholesterol aren't bad. Here is something I will say that is right: Grain-based diet are horrible. And the starchy shit fried in seed oil that's mass produced in manufacture that sells it in a plastic bag. That where the problem lies. Plant-based is fine, grain-based is the enemy. Yet, people would call themself plant-based. Plant-based isn't the ideal diet, but a good enough diet. If you add in a little bit of eggs, cheese, or fish on a plant-based diet, you'll get fat and protein, but they don't have to. Just avoid grains and seed oils and you're on the clear. I am eliminating grains and seed oil again cause my inflammation is activated. I have no problem with dairy (even pasteurized). I can still drink soft drinks (yeah, it isn't healthy but I know that isn't causing me issues either). I did give up grains and seed oil (many packaged food) for a week, my inflammation dropped. Welp, I refused eating grains and inflammation is back again. I may not use seed oil for cooking, but I am getting it on most packaged food and when I dine out. ://

This is a little simplistic. Carbohydrates in and of themselves do not cause obesity or any other problem. EXCESS carbs are the problem. Most Americans eat bread, chips, soda, cakes, fries, cookies, ice cream and candy all day long and wonder why they're fat. Carbs are energy sources but if the eater doesn't do anything with that energy, it gets stored away as fat. Simple right? Fiber is also a carbohydrate. It's pretty important to mention that one. You need that more than you need sugar in your diet. Fiber helps you feel full, so you are less likely to over eat. It also helps to push whatever excess calories you've eaten towards the "exit." It's far more important to stress moderation in carbohydrate intake. Especially if exercise is something the dieter avoids at all costs. Stress the importance of WHOLE FOODS in the diet. Lots of dark leafy greens, whole grains, fruits, nuts and lean meat or similar quality proteins. These things do not need to be eaten in "moderation" since you will generally stop eating when you are full and likely won't eat much until you are hungry again. Not so with processed carbohydrates. Most people will eat those until they disappear.

I'm on Keto Diet for 8 months now but I keep an eye on carbs "cycles" adding a tbsp of beans to a meal or something like that (almost once a week). If I keep taking cabs like that with a ton of fiber that will not be any problem... The problem with Keto Diet is that it takes time to understand all the mechanism works. I was overloading my meal with no necessary additional fat, then I've found that I was eating les minerals that I should, drinking no water because water (liquids) is no good for nutrients absorption and all kind of this misconceptions you can imagine... And I am still learning.

The issue is processed grains in the US.. Keto is bad long term and I defiantly hit a wall in my workouts energy and leanness after 6 years.

Medium level fat with medium level carbs make you store fat. High carb low fat or high fat low carb is the answer for burning fat. High insulin makes you store fat. You must either keep the fat intake low so there's nothing to store or you must keep the carbs low so you keep insulin low. I personally choose high carb low fat with IF. It is easier to maintain and is more nutritious.

Holy moly, to say that insulin resistance is just a result from an overconsumption in calories blows my mind. Insulin resistance is a response from spiking your blood sugar too much. The #1 contributor of spiking your blood sugar? Carbohydrates by a long shot. You would have to eat a hell of a lot of meat and cheese to cause that damage. Anybody who has cut out carbs knows this is impossible. High fat foods are highly satiating and you often have to put down the fork before your plate is cleaned.

Carbs do not make you fat! The fat you eat along with carbs make you fat. If you consume fat and carbs together, your body will store the fat and burn the carbs for energy. Also, while WFPB carbs won't make you fat, if you want to lose weight, you need to eat less.

I respect Chris a lot. No doubt in his circumstances - i.e. physiology, dieting history, strength training goals, body composition goals - a diet comprising 50% carbs is obviously working for him to achieve this. However, to argue this is universal truth and that all humankind will benefit from this advice is misleading in the least. To dismiss the vast amount of studies and anecdotal evidence from people who have transformed their lives for the better (whatever better means to them) with low-carb-high-fat (LCHF) or keto diets is unwise and rather ignorant. That being said, I do think that Chris is smart enough to know this. I just sense that this video is more about marketing 'Sensolin' supplements than providing genuinely useful advice. I understand Chris has to set up the premise that anyone who has problems with carbs are in fact 'broken' and ought to by his pills to fix themselves. There's nothing wrong with marketing. We all need people to buy shit off us to have money to live. Just see this video for what it is. Despite what Chris says, I believe there is nothing wrong with keto or LCHF or even a diet high in carbs, consisting of 50% starchy carbs and fruit. As an idealist, the real message of these sorts of videos, from both sides of the argument, should be: If your diet is empowering you to achieve your goals, great. Keep doing it. If not, try something different.

One thing almost no one talks about is as we age there are different hormones in our body, so the optimal ratios of macronutrients changes as we change. However you are kind of wrong in a sense. It's been proven diets based on healthy carbs are the most efficient and lead to longevity more than any other. The studies that conflict this are looking are people who need to lose weight. If you need to lose weight to make yourself healthier than going KETO will definitely make you healthier. However no one should be KETO/high fat for too long, because why build up ketones in the body? Its much easier on your body to get the glucose from healthy sources like potatos, fruits, and veggies than to make it from proteins or fats through gluconeogenesis. This is why KETO is good for weight loss...it stresses your metabolism more in order to make carbs...Carbs aren't the enemy. Its processed foods and innactivity.

There are also people like me, who hate only sticking to 2 macronutrients. I want all 3 of them and especially carbs. And I don't get fatter eating carbs. So what Chris said is true. If you're getting fat on whole carbs then it's a sure fireway you still have insulin resistance. And the best way to revert insulin resistance is to fast. Now what the heck is insulin resistance? Contrary to the popular belief - it's not malfunctioning of the receptors in cells. It's too much fat in our organs, especially liver, and our muscles. That explains perfectly why some people can eat carbs without problems and others can't. Because with insulin resistance you have less space to store glycogen. And less glycogen storage means your insulin simply takes the glucose and stores it into your fat cells. And when you're insulin sensitive -not a lot of fat in your organs, then you have more space for the glycogen, and thus you can process more carbs without getting fatter. Anyways, there's probably a fuck ton more that's going on, but this explanation makes a ton of sense don't you think?

I've been thinking the same, but lately I'm leaning more towards the best of both worlds between plant-based and carnivorous. I do intermittent fasting, then I mainly take grass-fed beef organ supplements(bone marrow, beef organs, and beef liver/brain from Ancestral Supplements), Bulletproof whey which is grass-fed and has grass-fed colostrum powder, multi-collagen, and ghee for animal sources of food. And I suppose fermented skate liver oil counts too., which at least has mainly good PUFA's. I've been thinking I should actually cut down on fiber and plant sources of food though, adding some beef tallow for healthy saturated animal fats and not just ghee, and some grass-fed beef, one reason being I was depending too much on sprouted seeds with a grain-free diet and it happens to be nut-free too, so will go through what I have then likely try cutting that largely due to PUFA's. Hemp protein isn't so bad that way and isn't bad for anti-nutrients either, then Sprouted for Life 3 seed bread, potato, and avocado will help cover other nutritional needs. I really love coconut yogurt too. We'll see though, I'll experiment by replacing the half of my last meal that's Plantfusion Fermented Superfoods protein(mainly pea), then a recommended serving each of Go Raw's apple cinnamon sprouted seed granola, and their sprouted pumpkin/sunflower seed mix. Replacing that with 2 grass-fed brats, potatoes, and sauerkraut. Then for 'dessert' the 3 seed bread topped with raw honey and another with guacamole, something like that. That's def something I could have daily and not get sick of it. Maybe I'm overreacting about the PUFA's though lol, but if I'm gonna do carnivorous at all, I may as well be sure I'm covering all the bases adequately, not supporting factory farming is the main thing, along with being mindful of where your produce is coming from too.

We make Glucose without eating it... Explain that? When our glycogen is full and we eat carbs, what does our body do with it? (hint: It makes fat).... Our body can use ketones efficiently and any we don't use get excreted from the body. Also Fasting is a ketogenic state... Also love how you finsh the video with a supplement being a (solution). Many of us gain weight when eating carbs in spite of physical activity.(I personally know a marathon runner struggling with this... They switched to CKD to manage it)... Sorry you are once again way off...
@Terranjourneys
@Terranjourneys 6 лет назад
ScottTheTruckDriver my guess is that people eat too frequently. Then they are not allowing their body to use the carbs they are putting in or they keep their insulin spiked and store carbs as fat. They eat too frequently and never tap into fat stores hence the need to keep exercising to burn off all this energy and with insulin spiked as well they feel compelled to keep eating especially to have energy to exercise and it becomes a vicious cycle, a battle with weight. Keto does it different from what I understand because fat is very satiating, insulin doesn't spike, and ketones operate differently in the body. Nutrient dense carbs with effective meal frequency doesn't seem to be a problem. But I'm sure there are still different physiological effects that can be studied looking at the two diets.

ScottTheTruckDriver You’re proving what I’m saying. In that article it’s essentially saying the more carbs you eat, the more your body is inclined to utilize carbs and not fat for energy. The oxidation of carbs increases. EVEN THEN in the article it states body fat is not accrued until your calories eaten surpasses calories burned. It also directly states that both carbs and fats under basic dietary conditions, “are not interconvertible currencies”.
@ScottTheTruckDriver
@ScottTheTruckDriver 6 лет назад
Fact.. when glycogen is full (there is a limit) the body converts excess glucose to fat) Fructose is also converted to fat. As someone who is currently on a zero carb diet I can tell you I have plenty of energy. Carbs are fine if you do a lot of exercise. You're right that carbs themselves don't make you fat necessarily. You can probably eat potatoes and be fine. But it's the processed and refined carbs that get you, as you said, like cake and cookies and white bread and fries. For a lot of people, keto is at least a good way to get back to a healthy weight and transition into healthier and cleaner eating. It might not be a good idea to go long term with it, maybe you're right on that. But it does work. I've been on keto for a few weeks now and I've lost 20lbs. Although I don't cut carbs out of my diet completely. I have one day off per week where I can have some carbs and sugar, to keep the old insulin going.

I also learned insulin resistance might not be about malfunctioning of the receptors in the cells, BUT, too much fat in the organs. Especially liver. So essentially fructose from refined foods is making us insulin resistant because fructose gets turned into fat and stored into our organs and even muscle. Also, with insulin resistance you can store less glycogen into your liver and muscles, thus - you get fatter and fatter from less and less food. Really, insulin resistance is what ultimately makes us fat. Get rid of it and you'll be able to eat whole, unprocessed carbs without an issue.

It takes me about 12 mins to cook a steak and that pound and 1/2 of meat fuels me for 12 hrs I know this is type of eating is extremely anti vegan and probably most all other diet fads but to deny that it works is a gross understatement. But hey I’m always open and willing to look into any method of eating there’s always some truth to every meal plan.

Traditionally fruit was only eaten in season, until preserving fruit was discovered in the 19th century. Even back then, only children ate fruit straight up. Adults ate fruit after meals & it was always served with raw cream, quark & other European dairy foods that have no name in English. These fats lowered the extent to which the fructose spiked insulin. Children could eat straight fruit because they spent every day except in winter running around, & thus burnt off the fructose.

I am tired of hearing people say "i put on weight by just waking past a cake shop ' bs ,it's because you eat crap ,chocolate, crisps ,biscuits , all before they humbly walk past those nasty goodies ,then sit on your ass all day long .Biggest and most common and reckless thing to pass your lips is alcohol .Then people eat before your liver has broken it down and the food get stored as your liver needs to break down the drink first which takes the given time depending on what you had .It's a trap While i have basic common sense with food and i am known for it ,i still have problems when it comes to a bodybuilding diet .Eventually after a few weeks i start adding inches to my waist ,just seems to creep up .Ive been told it is probably because of the post workout high glycemic carbs and whey protein which are about 40grams glucose and 40 gram protein shake .apparently we dont need whey or high glycemic carbs after a workout,and should be going straight for a high protein meal .I trained for 3-4 days a week .Any opinions on what you guys do would be interesting .Thanks

Amazing video! I personally did a ketogenic diet for 4 years straight, started at 20 years old to about 24, awesome results for first year, went from an overall 25% body fat at 195 to a lean individual at about 165! BUT results slowed dramatically after that, weight remained stable, and strength at gym was stagnant and at times lower, energy was mediocre compared to what I heard on RU-vid and forums(pipe dream), this dietary adherence led me to binge when I had carbohydrates or when I "refed" and led to intestinal bloat, diarrhea, uncontrollable farts, and discomfort, finally switched to a balanced diet and feel better stronger and overall better!!! Thank God! Weight went up from 165- to 175 but look fuller and stronger

See, that's the thing: keto is an unbalanced diet designed to correct an unbalanced diet. IF you are fat, it's a great tool to lose the weight. You lose weight with less hunger and you don't lose as much muscle as on other diets; but once you are no longer fat, you add back in the healthy carbs. HEALTHY carbs. Not donuts and crap. That's literally the point of it. You swing to the opposite extreme from the one that caused all the weight gain, and then once you are healthy, you switch to 'maintenance' which is nearly identical to clean eating.

I'm not sure why he left out that you should avoid saturated fat to reverse insulin resistance though. Just telling people to eat 50% carbs will have enough room for saturated fat make little difference. 70%-80% of calories from carbs is more effective if you want to improve insulin sensitivity.

Younes ZH supposedly glucose getting utilized before fat in the body is due it being the source of energy they want to rid the body of first due to it being toxic. i personally aim for 60 grams of carbs, 60 grams of fat and 60 grams of protein a day. i want calories from my fat to be twice as much as carbs. i feel fuel from the fat gets me through the day 16 hours and fuel from the carbs gets me through the night eight hours . i believe insulin making you want to sleep is for a reason. glucose is bedtime fuel to recharge your battery as you sleep. i don't know if you believe in the spirit body but i also believe that is glucose what glucose energize the spirit body while we sleep and fats energize the flesh as we are awake.

Everybody's body is different. Some people do well on a vegan diet, some get run down and tired. Some do best with multiple small meals during the day, others (myself included) do well with intermittent fasting with an occasional longer fast. The best advise I've ever gotten - Don't eat anything out of a box. Stay away from processed food. If you don't recognize the origin of the food, don't eat it. "Processed Cheese Food" isn't even good to fill holes in the ground. Stay away from low-fat ANYTHING - there is added sugars to give it flavor to make up for the fat reduction. Real, healthy food cost more than processed garbage, but poor health is VERY expensive! Thank you for the work you put into these videos.

The human body does not require one single gram of carbs, ever. Glucose is manufactured by the body, and if you have more than the equivalent of 1 tablespoon of dietary glucose in a day, the excess is stored in fat cells. Carbs are two-thirds sugar (glucose and fructose), and the fructose part is sent to the liver and stored in fat cells. The liver treats fructose the exact same way that it treats ethanol, and fatty liver disease can occur not just from excess alcohol consumption, but from a high carb diet. The reason people gain weight on a carb-burning diet is the incessant clammoring of the body for "more food!" Until one gets into the state of ketosis (fat-burning) one's appetite will continue on, ad infinitum.

Carbohydrate doesn't make u fat yes.but it makes pancreas work harder and tiggers more and more insulin release which inturn will make u hungry just in 2hrs again consuming carbs again more insulin release again hungry turns out into a vicious cycle.that will make u fat.on the other hand good quality fat like coconut oil butter ghee foods high in good quality fat will nt trigger more insulin response to almost negligible levels thus keeping u fuller for longer periods of time without hunger.all them u criticize are nt asking people to eliminate carbs they are just asking to keep carbs as low as possible in our diet particularly in diabetics and prediabetics.so don't mislead people

Berg to have tips on keto but i'm vert aware that he almost a keto extremist that do not see the validity of any other diet ever. Remember that japanese people have the longest life style but that they thrive on rice all their life. Keto is a good diet but that doesn't mean that a carb diet is bad. Hey Chris I do a diet of an estimate of 50% fruit, 20% starch 30% meat. Is this allgood? I eat lots of high sugar fruit, as I'm quite skinny and have a fast metabolism so need the calories. I also have a tbsp of Manuka honey a day. Also included with the fruit, I tend to have about a cup of cashews with my lunch. Pretty much for lunch I have fruit and cashews, but I also often have fried rice and I cut up smoked salmon or mackerel and chuck that in. Most of the 20% starch is rice, because I eat a lot Asian food that I make myself. Often do Indian, Japanese or Vietnamese. I only fry my food in butter or coconut oil. I don't eat any dairy. I use home made cashew/date milk for my coffee. I only eat pork or chicken about twice a month. Usually it's beef or lamb 4 times a week, also eat a lot of fish. Often raw if I'm doing suish or something. Don't eat grains, but I may make a burger once a week and maybe once a fortnight for breakfast I'll have oats with brown sugar. Is there anything I should change?

Largest cohort study of 135,335 individuals and documented 5796 deaths and 4784 major cardiovascular disease events. “ we found that a high carbohydrate intake was associated with an adverse impact on total mortality, whereas fats including saturated and unsaturated fatty acids were associated with lower risk of total mortality and stroke. We did not observe any detrimental effect of fat intakes on cardiovascular disease events. Global dietary guidelines should be reconsidered in light of the consistency of findings from the present study, with the conclusions from meta-analyses of other observational studies8, 10, 54 and the results of recent randomised controlled trials36” www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(17)32252-3/fulltext?elsca1=tlxpr

Keto is the easiest diet to follow to reverse insulin resistance which is America’s biggest health problem. That’s why it’s awesome.It’s easy to follow & it lets people experience how good their brain and body feel without the excess chronic low level of immflamuation that sugar (breads/pastas/crackers/cookies/buns, you name it) causes. It might not be a diet to follow for life but once you do you will feel the true effects diet has on your mood, energy, intelligence, it’s astounding! Like this gentleman was saying you gotta do the Whole Foods Keto, not hot dogs and fried chicken. If you are wanting to diet to lose weight give it a go and switch back after you’ve leaned out. Just my 2 cents.

good video with one caveat: define nutrient dense! because in my book nutrients are fat, carbs, protein. So nutrient dense is everything from burgers to chocolate. the least nutrient dense foods are vegetables. what you mean is micro nutrient dense. phytonutrient dense. but using "nutrient dense" on its own can be misleading.

Basically what you're saying is that processed carbs are bad and that people should just eat healthy. I completely agree with that. The keto people aren't just one group. Within the keto communities there are those that promote a healthy version of keto which includes all the plant based whole foods that you are also sugesting to eat. They don't overeat on protein (less than 20% of calories should be protein). And these people feel great on their low carb style of eating and maintain it for life without any of the problems you described. I do keto the healthy way + intermittent fasting and I feel great. But then there are these keto people who eat low amounts of vegetables. They eat way too much protein, They think 6 eggs for breakfast every day with sausage is a good idea and think a McDonalds hamburger without the bun is healthy on keto..... 🤐 If you do keto like that, it's not going to work long term. If you eat a standard american diet with all that crappy food and few vegetables, it also doesn't make you feel great. It's the same thing, a diet with lots if nutritional deficiencies. Insulin resistance is caused, by the way, because of too many calories stored in the blood. You achieve this situation by eating fat and carbs and eating every 2 or 3 hours from when you wake up untill you go to bed. Obese people have it so bad they'll wake up early, hungry, to eat and then go back to sleep. Frequent eating is caused by processed carbs that cause a higher insulin spike which results in driving glucose way too fast into the cells causing low blood sugar which makes you feel hungry again. It's not just the carbs and it's not just the fat. It's the combination of the 2 if most carbs are processed carbs. But fat metabolism isn't a survival nechanism. Your 50% healthy carbs diet + no frequent eating actually makes your cells switch between glucose metabolism and fat metabolism, multiple times a day. A high carb low fat diet (healthy whole food plant based) is healthy too and so is a low carb high fat diet. As long as there are no nutritional deficiencies, humans will thrive.

Why would the body prefer glucose metabolism if there's absolutely no dietary glucose requirement? You need essential proteins (aminoacids) You need essential fats (fatty acids) You DO NOT NEED any essential sugars... your liver makes whatever little you need for some parts of the brain ~15%. it's called gluconeogenesis and glucogenolysis.

Here is what I think is being left out - if you eat all those carbs, "nutrient dense" or not, then when you try and do fasting you get all shaky. It has been shown that fasting is one of the best ways to fix insulin resistance. Getting "fat adapted" on a Keto diet has allowed me to fast, without the carbohydrate crash I used to experience. So what about that.
@infiniteworlds5
@infiniteworlds5 6 лет назад
Also that a childhood of eating breakfast cereals and pastries rather than whole, natural, filling foods causes damage to your insulin response, and it takes less and less glucose to spike your insulin; hence a low-carb diet may be the only thing that works for some people. Healthy people who have eaten well their whole lives have no issues handling a few carby days a week. But the majority of us have damaged metabolisms from decades of carb abuse, and keto can heal or at least improve that damage.
