This video describes the differences between two common carburetor synchronizers used for air-cooled VWs.
These tools are necessary to properly tune in a set of dual carburetors on a VW Type 1 or Type 4 engine. They ensure that the same amount of air is flowing to all of your cylinders at the same RPM.
Displayed are the unisync carburetor synchronizer and the EMPI snail style carburetor synchronizer.
We describe how to use both air-cooled VW carburetor synchronizers.

Most carbs have a filter mounting bolt sticking up through the centre of the venturi opening above the carb which means you need a spacer to put over it to sit the carb sync tool on. Basically you've shown us that you can supply the two types of sync tools. Could you do a video showing how to set it up and how the syncronizing is done?

ya vid is kinda lacking. Plenty of info needed. Is there a preferred sequence to adjust ? How do read /set your baseline? How fast should your idle be or what if it wont idle at all !

I've got smartcarbs with a opening that isn't perfectly round, I wonder how flexible the snail thing is? looks like the unisync is the tool to go with maybe

I'd say try the unisync style. It should fit flat across the intake side. The snail style has some give but it doesn't really conform.

Cuestion do I have to have the velocity staks I have a set of emp Webbers whit only the filters no staks and I feel they are not ok can you help please tanks

You don't need velocity stacks to use this, although I would highly recommend them for performance. The 32/36 square-throat carburetors are the only ones that won't work with these carburetor syncs.

A single barrel carburetor won't need synchronized. If your single carburetor has more than one barrel like a Weber IDF or Dellorto, then yes you still need to synchronize the barrels.

@@darrellburnside9368 For a single 2bbl stromberg this style of carb synch won't help. You may need a vacuum gauge for those.
