Carcinoid Syndrome: Symptom Triggers 

Unfortunately, when patients actually lay out all their symptoms, many doctors glaze over and assume you are a hypochondriac. I tried multiple ways of getting my situation across- sharing my notes, giving the doctors a list, just mentioning the most severe symptoms, having my husband come with me. I’m a retired Colonel (female) & I was still treated like I was somehow just a whiner or unstable. It’s taken 13 years, countless appointments, & terrible amount of money to get a diagnosis. I’ve lost count of the offers of psych meds & suggestions that I get counseling.

Stress trigger mines, alcohol that's why I stop drinking and definitely anesthesia bring on a crisis I spent nine days in icu with a crisis that led to sepsis

For years bending over, especially, to the left set off all my symptoms. Recently this has gotten much worse, just standing up from a 💺can set it off it if I am not careful to not put pressure on the left side. Docs thought I was crazy at first when I would say this but it was so distinct there came a point I did not care when they said "it could not happen like that!" Then I was having an exam and a doc put pressure somewhere on the left side of pelvis and I flushed immediately and right in front of her. She was amazed and said she had never seen anything like it even though she was an instructor at the medical school and large teaching hospital. I learned you have to jeep speaking up, keep looking for a doctor who will at listen and at least rule out carcinoid.
