I'd say even beyond little leaguers. This was textbook run downs at a level you don't see often.

The biggest thing when this is going on is the Outfielders running into to cover. Oneil was obviously a little late but my guess would be he was going to Third just in case there a wild throw and needs to be there. Bader just straight rushed 2nd base. Carson again doing what Oniel did and cover first in case of wild throw. Eventually they just close in. This is basically part of the reason Cardinals are doing so good atm.

That was good baseball. I didn't like seeing the left fielder standing there with his hat off though. He should have been backing up that throw at third base so the Cubs didn't win the game if the guy threw it away. He was clearly out of position

@@charlesandrews2360 I would say that since Arenado was already there and Bader the CF was heading there as well, O'Neill the LF didn't want a "too many cooks" situation.

@@charlesandrews2360 I agree with @yo. There is only so much room before they start to interfere with each other. Hard to coordinate THAT many people all at once in an ad hoc play like that. Plus you should have heard the announcers: "The only thing Tyler needed there was a bag of popcorn!" And those were the St. Louis announcers, Rick Ankiel was one of them, if I remember right. And we all know how good HE was in the outfield/infield! (Edit: had to add infield since he played pitcher, too)

He is left fielder. Why is he standing at second base with his hat in one hand scratching his ass with the other while the play is still going on? Yes it's nitpicking so what? The guys involved in the play did a great job but he look like a complete idiot

I'd have probably wanted to keep at least one outfielder in the outfield in case of an overthrow (as opposed to spectating from 10 feet away)... but, yep, too many of these situations end with no one covering and the base-runner just speeding past the pickle to score.

I'd 100% have been the pitcher just kinda hanging out in the middle of the field trying to look like I'm sort of doing something to contribute to the play but just watching and hoping everybody else on my team knows what they're doing lol

Zactly!! Yadi knows more about the intricacies of the game than most managers. When he’s behind the plate, HE’S running the show- including pitches, fielder placement, and calling a game. On top of that, he’s got a rocket arm and can still swing the bat. When he finally has to hang up the mask, he will be sorely missed.
