Man in finally going to get a bike after thinking about it for a few years and this looks amazing. Waterproof, good battery life, decent JBL speakers, good range, relatively slim design and maybe best of all is that "Hey Cardo" feature which looks so damn convenient. Still a month or so out from getting the bike and gear but I am so excited. Being able to play music and talk on the road is so damn cool.

Cardo is really good, but please, let the app on phone be able to record my conversations via the intercom. It makes recording for videos so much easier!!

Great video...... I really wanted the PaclTalk Slim, but I wear a Schubert C4 and since the slim doesn’t have a sticky pad base it just won’t work for me..... so I went with the PackTalk Bold.....

loving my slim unit, but please talk about parallel audio streaming and priorities.? my sena sr10 pmr radio device, should it be paired as gps.? or mobile 1.? I miss some of the first words in a conversations which never happened on my sena srl can this be fixed.? thanks

Can I ask what you where doing with your arm during the handsfree commands, looks like you where raising them to do something during each hands free command, seen the shadow of your arm on the table.

I have the slim and like it but wish I went with the bold because the battery for the slim slightly touches on my back when I'm riding in a full tuck. It's not that bad but when wearing a backpack trying to hide from the wind on a chilly morning commute it is an annoyance.

I've got one of these, and looking to get the Nexx X.WST2 Carbon Helmet Was wondering if you guys new if it would fit the helmet. Nexx has their own coms and I don't want to buy it.

It would be nice if the paper manuals talked about some of this. I had no idea that this thing could do DMC and bluetooth at the same time. Thanks for the video though.

I would like to add one point that could be improved with Universal Intercom. I would like to have the option to select a “Universal Intercom Slave Mode” (Packtalk acts as mobile phone for the other unit) This way, when paired with a unit of a other brand, the command to start the Intercom call are the same as with a Cardo Unit (also for the other device). Right now it is really difficult to start the Intercom, if the other unit is paired on Mobile Phone Channel 2. Pressing the Phone button then just activates Google Assistant on my mobile phone (Mobile Phone Chanel 1). Hopping to see the option on one of the next firmware updates.

hoping for a response, but will the receiver with the buttons that goes on the side of the helmet fit an HJC i10? i understand the i10 is one of the models that's supposed to use Sena HJC Smart but i'd like to use the cardo packtalk slim. The side of the helmet seems to be too thick for the receiver to snap on with pressure.

Great video, but one small suggestion for some of your explanation sections such as 13:35 it would be nice if you had the Cardos on a white background so they are a little easier to see when you are demonstrating which buttons to press on the units. : ) But thank you for making this video.

After riding my G4 for years, still riding my original Scala Rider. Bought a them when they came out, got one replaced after its antenna broke off. Now, their batteries start to diminish. So I looked into replacements. While the Bold seems to be the obvious replacement, I like the Slime more, because - well - they are slimmer. On the downside: Having to basically charge the helmet and not just a tiny unit is just really complicated when on tour and you have to deal with limit space. (Think of tiny hotel rooms, hijacking the power sockets from a restaurant, etc) Honest question: Why is there still no USB-C connectors? Is it because of some form of regulations regarding water profess, or would you need to conform to more complicated charging specs? I would love to see a unit like the Paktalk Slim with a Battery that can be swapped out and charged on its own. So I could always have one charge in my tank bag (or where ever) and switch them when the ride gets really long. And let's face it, the juice always runs out when you need it the most: in the middle of the night, it's raining and you desperately need your GPS to guide you to the next hotel. Wouldn't it be cool to just swap the batteries instead of fiddling with cables attached to some power bank, hoping the rain won't destroy both?

I have my new Cardo sli. It was recommended to me by my riding buddies. I have an Arai helmet and it doesn’t seem to be compatible. There is an exhaust outlet on the back of the helmet. Which is blocking where you would mount the component. Is there a fix or work around for this?

is it possible to connect plugphone earplug headphones via a 3.5 mm jack ? like instead of the suppiled speakers i see in the unboxing a 3.5mm jack on the speakers so possibly?

I bought the Cardo freecom 2 dual pack. Sound was good between riders but I found I couldn't conect to the tft because it would just cause issues with the other rider . Cardo advised me to buy packtalk bold. I bought the slim version. My units must be faulty because I refuse to believe they can be this bad. Pairing was a nitemare, constantly saying, Helllo, hello? Can you here me? When they were paired I could barely hear the other rider, when at motorway speeds, nothing. Then even at slow speeds I could barely hear the other rider and he could not hear me at all. Said he was also getting interference and sometimes felt like radio static. I bought this so I could connect to the bmw tft and hear my phone ect. The old Freecom 2 was better. I can't understand this. Also the Cardo app couldn't find any units even though they were on and connected. I took these on the North Coast 500 and they failed miserably. We'd try each day, to see if they'd work but going through the pairing ritual was ruining our minds. We just never bothered with them in the end. They just ruin the rider experience. Another thing is, the helmet speakers go nowhere near my ears, I have the Hjc Rpha 11, the location for the speakers are nowhere near my ears but this was true or the Freecom 2. Cardo should make in ear speakers because all helmets and heads are different. I don't know what to do now. I'm sending these back as they are not fit for purpose. I may try BMWs own helmet communication systems, they should at least conect to their systems and be able to talk to another rider. I swear I could buy cheap Chinese Crap from alibaba that would be better that these. I paid £380 for two of these simply to talk to a friend. I could make something work better that these myself.

looking everywhere for a solution, but no luck so far... i have the radio on and a gps app on my iphone when i ride. Unfortunately the volume of the radio is not lowered when a navigation message/warning is played. I prioritized "audio sources" under the advanced audio settings but still radio volume remains constant, i can not clearly hear the instructions of the gps app over the radio ..is this a shortcoming of device or is there a solution ??

I just got the Cardo dual pack because of all the videos I’ve seen on them. Went for our first ride today and man was I so disappointed. Music share would cut the music on and off and back on in both modes, sometimes there would be so much static and wind noise then the mic would blast you out of the helmet and then go very low. Voice command worked when it wanted to and the distance in mesh mode was not that great. We came back and actually took them out and installed the cheap old units that actually sounded better with less noise and static. I wanted this to work for the music share and was disappointed from the start and it just got worse through the ride.

is it really the only cardo with bluetooth 4.1?

I love my packtalk slim. The only problem I have with the voice activation, is that my voice is too deep to activate it, most of the time. I usually have to come up one or two octaves to get it to respond

If I just wanted to buy a cardo unit that I can communicate with my wife's cell phone and my helmet what's the best unit?

I'm confused about the position of the hybrid microphone during installation. The manual states that it should be on the right side while the picture shows that it should be on the left. I ended up placing it on the right side because otherwise the wires are too short. The same confusion is visible in this video. The microphone is placed on the right, but when the helmet is put on, the microphone is on the left side. Confusing. In addition, the microphone is always blocking the closing of my modular helmet. Furthermore, a great device except for the radio reception. This one is dramatic and the RDS function does not work either.

I am installing my Packtalk slim and I am a little confused. The video clearly shows the mic being installed and operated on the left side. The connector to the mic is on the right. The wire is not long enough to reach from my right to the left side. Am I seeing something different? Also, the instruction says to install on the right side.

I am trying to connect Cardo Packtalk Bold to a Harley Davidson 2021 Road Glide with the Boom Audio. It doesn't seem to be working. Now my Cardo keeps saying either connect to the phone, or It doesn't know that number, especially with an half helmet at 70+ mph. I guess I can't have two items (Packtalk and Boom audio) connected at the same time.. Mind you, I am not a computer savvy guy and no videos showing how.

At 13:48 it's mentioned to press the Intercom and Phone buttons together to switch to Bluetooth Pairing mode, but he presses the Intercom and Media buttons. I'm guessing it's what he pressed on the video?

Just got this and haven't ridden with it yet, but a few things I've found already. 1)The helmet feels a fair amount tighter with this stuff installed, 2) the in helmet microphone is pointy underneath the foam a stabs you in the chin if the helmet gets bumped, and 3) the charging cord is only about 40cm long. Not long enough to Have your helmet charging off the ground if you're running off a power board and also not long enough to charge from a port on your motorbike etiher. Maybe they could have done away with the absurd over packaging and instead spent the money on a decent length charging cord. On charge at the moment. Would not have a clue how charged it is.. all I get is a red light. Not terribly intuitive.

My microphone is very soft when on call, but loud on voice command? I'm NOT using a boom mic and the mic is velcroed right in front of my mouth 20mm apart.

Also, I often have to repeat commands for the unit to respond. Is this common? My microphone is slightly offset but is still in front of my helmet, only tucked slightly behind the right side cheek pad. I have spoken on the phone with people and they say they can hear me, it sound a bit windy but not bad. Just updated so hoping that fixes it, but wondering if anyone else has had experienced similar issues! Thanks

Just bought this! Only one speaker works though, I updated the system and etc. Just curious if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a failure on the speaker.

The app hardly ever does anything on mine, and my riding partner's. Would be nice if it worked, but I haven't managed to do anything but start the radio. Connecting to the headset is hit or miss... 3/4 miss. Even with it paired to my phone and playing music, it just can't find my unit from the app.

Why not include the 45mm JBLs and make people pay extra for those after they’ve purchased your top of the line unit?

I bought I Cardo Packtalk Slim and I tried connect with Sena and it never works.

This video should've shown how to pair devices using the phone app. It's way, way easier to use the app than remember button presses. Voice recognition works perfectly once you realize a couple things: - Set voice sensitivity to High in the phone app - Speak SOFTLY to Cardo. There's no reason to yell at her, even if the wind is loud. There's also no reason to insert a pause between "Hey Cardo" and your command. Just gently say "hey cardo battery status" and it'll work perfectly every time. - Speak LOUDLY and clearly "OK GOOGLE" to activate Google assistant. Then wait a couple seconds for the phone to connect before saying your command. I'm not sure if you need to speak loud or soft to wake Siri as I don't use an iphone. Pro tip: I love my Slim unit, but my first one had the micro-USB fail and was replaced under warranty. The new one has a slightly revised connector design (still micro-usb, unfortunately), but it feels SUPER stiff when trying to insert a cable. To avoid breaking this new unit, I bought a tiny USB-to-magnetic connector. Now I can use a simple magnetic connection and not wear out the micro-USB plug. It works for data transfer (firmware updates) too. The rubber cap can't close, so I'm sure I'm compromising the waterproofness of it, so I make sure to remove it if ever caught in the rain. Pro tip 2: I appreciate that Cardo has worked to add the best speaker options in the business. But wind noise forces me to wear earplugs anyway, so I've moved on to just using good earbuds with memory foam to block the wind noise. It's a game changer in terms of hearing your buddies without blasting your ears away! You'll find you have to turn the volume way down compared to using speakers.

Can i drive with this in the rain?

Bought it, no chance to hear anything with full volume on both Cardo and phone going above 60km/h. I have a Yamaha yzf r125 with Leo Vince exhaust. Not able to hear music or phone calls

The Hey Cardo voice activation rarely works. To the point I don't bother trying anymore.

Pairing is hilariously un-documented. If you have bike bluetooth/TFT - The key is to pair Cardo Phone #1 to the bike bluetooth system, and then Phone #2 to the iphone/android.

Why does some of the units have HJC written on it, whereas the one that you are are reviewing does not have it?

I really wish you guys would of launched an updated packtalk bold with more in the group and a type C charger. And you would of had my money. I opted for the Sena 50R instead. So far so good. Not knocking Cardo bcoz I've never had one. But that Premier for the Cardo Black Edition was a huge let down for me. 20 minutes of my life wasted! Hope you guys do release a new model soon. 🖤🖤🖤

Really dumb that you cant just press once to stop music and you have to hold, should be hold for next track instead. or double tap for next track like almost every set of in ear headphones ever.... also the ignore a call function is a little dangerous, just set a single button for it at the bottom so you cant accidentally hit it...

This is not # 1 ( IT is number 1 this the best device I can sure you ) riding in the desert area or crowded city this will pick up your current friends

CAUTION CARDO BUYERS: The slim charger port is weak and breaks off internally making the unit useless, so registering the unit for warranty is vital because when you crack the case the unit is destroyed. Ask me how I know!!

This is the worst unit I have ever owned. Installed it in a Shoei GT Air. Bad voice command, bad connectivity, couldnt hear music even on full blast with 100 kph on the motorway and the charging port is horrible. When I said Hi Siri I couldnt even hear the bloody phone beep. Works nice in the studio though but in practice worthless
