Good luck on your new baby. I have two Fiddle leaf trees, or I should say three. I got the first one when it was about 3 feet tall for $29.99 at Home Depot about 5 years ago. In the first few months after bringing it home, I didn’t realize that I was under watering it and not getting the light it needed, so the leaves started to turn brown around the edges and they were all facing downwards, specially the bottom leaves. Then I started over watering it but the leaves started to fall off. In my research, I learned that a soil moisture meter would help to know how wet or dry the soil. It really helped me know when to water. A couple of months later after giving it enough water when it needed it, it started sending out new leaves. It made me happy every time I see a pair of leaves coming out. It is now about 10 feet tall, slim but straight with huge leaves. He is gorgeous. My other Fiddle leaf trees came two in a pot (that's why I said three). They both looked ugly when I saw them because the leaves were wrinkled and drying around edges, but for $10 bucks, I thought I could never find two Fiddle leaf trees for $10.00, so I brought them home. It was a little over 2 feet tall when I got them. With my learned experience from the first one, these two are now almost 5 feet tall with tons of huge leaves. They are crowding now, so I think I will separate them someday.
Finally got one, too. IKEA had them for $19.99. It’s a short, squaty one, but has dozens and dozens of leaves and looks amazing! So, if you’re looking for another one....check out your IKEA. Thanks for the tips!! 💕
I really want to mist my fiddle leaf plant but so many other people said not to do it very confused now. I must say your fiddle leaf fig looks really really healthy :)
My favorite garden store was selling one for $600. Six Hundred Dollars!!!! I decided to get a short one from Home depot for $15 which I think was possibly incorrectly labeled. I can't wait till my little one is taller than me.
I saw a video recently where a lady weened her fiddle leaf off a stake by shaking it to simulate wind. Thought it was funny to shake it twice a week to simulate wind, but her fiddle leaf had a nice strong trunk. Nice helpful care tips! Thanks!
One out of three of my new fiddles I got two weeks ago is growing very slowly, tiny leaves with slightly brown tips and edema, one of the new leaves just stopped growing at about an inch for a week and just fell off, a new small one is coming in but very slowly and might have the same problem. The other two are growing large healthy new leaves. Do you know what is wrong? The other leaves on it seem fine and not browning or drooping or dying. If they all the new leaves at the top die is there any way the top will get back to growing healthy larger leaves? What should I do?
This was very cute. I'm glad you finally found your prince!! I have a dozen house plants--mostly because my mom keeps gifting them to me. Lol. I'm gonna go look up that moisture meter. That is a great tip!
Hi Cooper. Nice video. How is your fiddle leaf fig doing? I see some brown spots on the leaves like mine. It turns out my FLF had a bacterial infection.
I bought a 4ft fiddle leaf fig yesterday from my local Sunday markets for AU $7.50. Thank you for the informative video. It’s so adorable that you gave yours a name, and a posh one at that! 😊
I have never owned a fiddle leaf fig tree in my life but congrats for finding yours!!! Lol I just think you’re funny, I have no business being here learning about house plants 😂
I bought a small fiddle and wasnt thriving inside, leaves started looking burned and took 4evar for leaves to start actually onlynone started and it was coming out already butned tips...i live in south Florida and ac is on between 72-75 daily ..i put in my patio and it is thriving and leaves growing..but i really wish to have it inside.
Thank you for this video...great tips. Just got my Fig tree about 3 - 3.5 ft for $30....not as good a steal as yours but totally affordable. I have one question....that mister you got....where did you get that? I love it! I have so many house plants and could definitely use something cute like that.
I got mine at my local nursery! But I have also seen some at Target or online at amazon! They are perfect for keeping indoor plants humid in between waterings :)
aliteratelife I’d wait it out! You can even let it get more on drier side if you think you overwatered it. I also started getting distilled water to water my fig, instead of using sink water. I think the San Diego water quality is pretty poor sometimes
If it still wet,I would try to put a folded dry towel .Sit the plant directly on the dry towel.make sure the pot has good drainage. You also could put a fan on it this helps the trunk of the tree or plant become strong,it simulates wind.Never let it sit in water after it drains, approximately 20 mins this will make sure the roots take all they need. Then empty any water left in the tray. The soil should be light .I read where the palm and cactus soil is good choice when repotting.I hope it turns out good for you.
Love this video! I've been trying to find an affordable fiddle leaf tree here in NJ and it's tough! Especially a 6 foot one! So jealous. Prince Philip is beautiful!
Do you have the address of the greenhouse you bought it at? I went online and typed Cando’s greenhouse in San Diego, and it does not have anything under that name. Thanks.
Is your fiddle leaf still thriving? I know you were new to caring for a fiddle leaf when you made your video and am just curious if you would still recommend the things you started out doing in caring for your tree. I am thinking of getting one, so if you have any more advice please share :) thanks!
Anna Wixom yes he is still thriving! He actually grew about 2 feet this summer. Crazy. He is so tall. I did switch over to watering my plant with distilled water from the store. I buy a gallon jug for like 70 cents and water him every 2 weeks. I noticed he was suffering a tad from the tap water quality here so I switched to distilled water.
Alvin Myers you can mist everyday or a few times a week! Just want to keep a humid environment going for your fig. I’d use warm water and mist my tree more often in the dry winter than the summer!
I would google the symptoms of leaves turning brown to see which symptom best describes what is happening to your tree! The leaves will be different colors depending on whats going on with your tree. It could be too much water, too little water, too little sunlight, or something else!
Bryanna I Wait at least 2 weeks to a month. The plant will go into shock during this time. Some leaves may fall off, but don’t worry. Stick your finger in to the soil 2” and if the soil comes off of your finger easily and is dry then it’s time to water. ( do not spend good money on that water meter!) Water deeply, but do not let the plant sit in water! If you can see the roots from the drainage holes on the planter it’s time to repot. When you decide to repot don’t get a pot that is any larger than 2” more than the one you already have it in, and wait until it’s time to water again when you repot.
Lol she's so excited about spending 45$... I got mine for 13$ and it's 4 ft....they had taller ones for 30$ hmm maybe they are hard to find where she lives
homewithtina I think it does depend on area. I’m in Oregon and my fiancé just got one for me for my birthday. $69.99 for a 6 foot at Home Depot. They’re anywhere from $70-$200 on OfferUp in my area🤷🏼♀️
@@dinonuggets9496 wow!!!! That's unbelievable!!! I saw a 5ft one for 25$!! I would have a really hard time spending anything more than 40$ for a house plant, I don't even like spending that on fruiting trees.... probably so cheap here bc we have tropical plants galore! . If you love tropical plants check out my insta, it's the same name, I have lots of bromeliads, succulent arrangements and loads other plants. It was cool learning that from you! Good luck with your fiddle leaf fig!!
I bought the bush type it came with 6 stems I split it into 2 pots of 2 stems and 2 pots of single stems, have a few baby leaves already! It's been only about 2-3 weeks, and no one drop any leaves!
homewithtina I’ll make sure to give your page a follow. I’m Ketomademama on IG. My dream is having a lemon tree but that’s hundreds here lol so I’m still in the dreaming phase😝
Your very first video I’m watching. I don’t even care what the content on this channel is but I’m subscribing. You can talk about how to boil water for all I care. I just fell in love with your bubbly personality
oh my gosh, this is the sweetest comment I've read in a while. THANK YOU! hahaha I assure you, I won't be boiling water on here anytime soon, but I appreciate your comment very much :)
