I am so thankful for the teachings. I am now working in a field (latterly) I love. Learning permaculture, from you, was a major shift in my life. Thank you for sharing your passion the way you do.

Greening the desert is also what started me on my journey around 2013! It has been a long road and i want to give up at times. Bad car wreck while interning at farms sent me back home to physical therapy, then my partner became chronically ill with autoimmune disease which seems to have us stuck treading water with all of our resources being sunk into maintaining health rather than towards building our vision. As wrong as i know it is, I have begun to feel envious when I see other’s successes. I was one of the first in my area to pick up on permaculture and watching others that I introduced to the idea find immediate success because they have more money and resources is disheartening. I have considered taking on debt to fund things but that seems unwise in the current economy. Just gonna keep on trying though

Rob has been instrumental in making my life better. Rob and the Verge Permaculture team get my highest recommendations. The online PDC was extremely worthwhile and paid for itself in the first few hours. The value of the paid consultancy sessions continues to be tremendous. The investments that I have made in my knowledge through Verge Permaculture and as a result of Rob's (and Michelle's... and the rest of the Verge Permaculture team's) teachings are among the best in my life... a hefty statement since I am an investment manager. Go click on anything Verge Permaculture related and find out what you're missing out on.. I'm really happy I did.

I always find it interesting how many permaculturists have an engineering background. I trained originally as an aerospace engineer, and permaculture design is a good fit with that skillset. Permaculture design can be viewed as engineering using biological elements and natural forces.

Hi Rob! I found many elements of your story relatable to my thoughts and outlook on life. I also studied Mech Eng, am currently 27 and served 4 years in the Air Force/Space Force, and am currently working as a test engineer for the orion spacecraft at NASA. Thing is...I too am not interested in maintaining a "status quo" either, because it was the inspiration that drew me to space technology, but passion draws me to permaculture/sustainability. I have found the engineering, scientific, and logic-driven approach of permaculture so invigorating! The everchanging challenge of growing food and maintaining the ecosystem around you is so stimulating...and something that our environment needs more of. Again I've only recently begun this journey, and plan to throw myself into this in the near future, but wanted to say thank you for putting your video out here. It's validating to hear of someone with a similar perspective and how it has worked out for you. Given the chance, I'd love the opportunity to speak in depth with you.

Keep on keeping on Rob! Michelle and you are most definitely an inspiration. We finally got a farm now and like yourself we are completely dedicated to Permaculture.

Both of you are doing great work! I am a software engineer and have been doing websites for the last 15 years. I want to do an app or website which helps somehow regenerating the lost flora and fauna. Can you please share some ideas or give me some direction

Hey Rob. Thanks for all the great videos. Upon learning how simple our climate issues can be to reverse I have become inspired to become part of solution by learning permaculture and going around the world helping people optimize their land, build a more intimate relationship with their food, learn to heal themselves, and green some deserts. I am having a hard time finding a straight answer on the full scope of opportunities and if a permaculture certificate alone will be enough for me to make a difference and a living. It seems many people have a background in other areas as well, not just the certificate and this will be first time studying. I understand you say to look inward for the answer but to me this sounds a bit squishy and discouraging haha inside the fire is burning though, I just know I have to do this. Do you think I will be able to make a global impact with a certificate alone?

Would love to meet up if and when I get back to Cowtown. I am a native Calgarian but have been working in permaculture across the planet.

I've worked on a Moshav (farm) in Israel, doing drip irrigation farming, next to the Dead Sea, i.e. the region you refer to. One does not convert the salt flat itself to a prospering farm, so I'd like a bit more detail or a link to the guy's video of his work on the Jordan side. I accept that you're simplifying for us but appreciate the detail.

Here's one video Geoff Lawton has done. If you search Greening the Desert or Geoff Lawton, you'll find more links: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6fj0oeyREeM.html
