My 93 year old mother has stage 4-5 Alzheimers and lives on her own. I am not her primary care giver but she has a daily carer 5 days a week. Mother had now reached the point where her carers or my family can assist her no further so we are looking at Care Homes. Mother is insisting she can maintain herself and her bungalow, when evidence shows otherwise. She has a cleaner, hairdresser and chiropody services. My sister does all the household tasks which mother refuses to allow her carer to perform. Mother goes into a verbal rage when a Care Home is mentioned but I am continuing my mission to get her in one .Do I feel guilty, sad or blameworthy? Absolutely not. I will be relieved and overjoyed, as will my siblings, to finally see mother in a safe place.

How do you help your person when they have to be in assisted living but they insist no one is taking my home and thinks everyday she's going home. That We.put her there.?

I believe that you have to find solace in the decision you made, knowing it was the only decision are the best decision under the circumstances. Her man likely resets every night when she sleeps, so think of ways to start the conversation in a positive note. Pictures of grandbabies, for example. When She starts in about going home, try to redirect again. This will be easier to demonstrate with a 1:1 session. Role playing the issue. Email me! Link above!
