Good idea. I just finished putting together my first winter sleep system and I have the same elephant skin tarp. Haven't used it yet but it looks like a good piece of gear. Cheers from Canada.
Done that for a year now. Foam mat and sleeping bag inside a bivy. During winter i added a reindeer skin between the mat and the bag. Was super comfy and warm, but cannot roll and carry it that way.
nice system...hmm bivy bag protects the sleeping bag but what protects the bivy bag? I thought you were going to roll the BW ground sheet also like the rest... as the outer layer...=)
I like the idea but I think it's too bulky, I have tried this myself and wasnt comfortable carrying this way. I have tried carrying the sleep role across my chest that works ok it balances up the weight.
Agree it gets a bit bulky and it’s not my preferred method of carrying but sometimes it does make sense for me to pack it this way depending on what backpack I’m carrying.
