Sorry for your loss. The video is indeed touching. Even after almost a year. The stove looks new and it should have built more pressure. Please use alcohol for priming it, you avoid soot from building up on that bell. Properly closing the tank would guarantee better pressure build up and consequently proper burning . Please do not turn the small knob which is within the cap, especially while burning the stove, this is a safety measure to release excess pressure from the tank, and could cause fire. All comes with experience after all. As someone mentioned, when using a squillet, please make sure the tank cap is not facing you and better using a small squillet and for short time types of cooking. All the best my friend and enjoy the outdoors 🙏🙏🙏🪓🌲

What is the cost of the wax and waterproofing? Thinking it might be cheaper to get an oversized tarp and extra tent poles.
@zufuss
@zufuss 3 месяца назад
The cost of the wax and waterproofing wasn't that much. A tarp is definitely an option but I was hoping to get it waterproof to avoid adding extra weight to the tent. Well this is a great video, however I need to point out this lighting is 100% WRONG...that little cup you see sitting on the generator, or mounted just below the brass valve is meant to be filled with fuel, this is the PRE-HEAT cup, that preheats the generator, so you don't have this explosive fire ball...if you fill this cup about 3/4 of the way , and light it, the flame will catch, and about 1 minute you can then, open the valve a little more, in fact you'll see the flame spreader, sputtering when its time to open it, to get it all going..it will sound like a percolator, with small flames...please try this, and you will see what i mean...I'm concerned to prevent anyone from being injured, great video on this otherwise

Hello. I can see the Dutch army Bivi 24 years old. If you was me, would you buy a new Carinthia - XP II GORE-TEX Plus Bivy 1-person Tent.. or a really old carinthia Duch army bivi? What advice tou you guve me as imminnthe market for a purchase and came across this fabulous video ❤

I've heard that actual gortex in the carinthian de laminates as they were made 20 years ago.. that's my only thing holding me back.. but I loved the thicker build quality. Idk.. it would be under a tarp though. Best. Don.

@clivedunning4317
@clivedunning4317 7 месяцев назад
@@zufuss Thank you for your compliments of the season. However , I must point out to you that in this case you are wrong. I've been in the army surplus business for many years and am well acquainted with the Swedish Army mess tins and trangia cooking system that you tested, The set on the left, with the curved bale handle and smooth sides all the way to the top of the big pot is made of very high grade, dense, aluminium. The set on the right , with the "flat" topped bale handle and a indented rim about 1 " (inch) (25mm) from the top of the pot is stainless steel. Historically the stainless steel sets were produced during World War II when Sweden had lots of stainless steel but aluminium was very expensive and in short supply as Sweden was supplying both sides with aluminium, primarily for their aircraft industries . Dave Canterbury, the american bushcraft bloke, was so impressed with a stainless steel set that he acquired, that his "Pathfinder Store" now sources his own brand copies. The aluminium sets were produced after World War II when there was reduced demand for aluminium and they are made from really high quality aluminium. Two quick checks you can do to prove me correct is; 1. Scratch the metal and you will see which is which. 2. Weigh the mess tins and observe the difference in weight between the two, the stainless steel set being heavier. Alternatively, you could try googling the subject. Apologies for going on a bit but I thought a more thorough explanation might be of intrest to you, all the best.

Both of these kits looks like the stainless steel ones, aluminum have 2 grooves from the top and these only have 1, you can also see that the handle is not bolted on these, they are on the aluminum kit The aluminum also (often) look very clean and almost white, at least all I see for sale@@clivedunning4317

throw some alive oil and bacon /bacon fat in there and then you have something besides nitrates,carbs /a little protein ( veggies are mostly all nitrates ,yeah the stuff they say bacon has that causes cancer lie ,if they use celery salt they can say nitrate free ) ! By the way ,veggie oil destroys cell walls ,fat builds cell walls ! most all commercial ( doctors ) nutrition advice is the opposite of good health ! I'm 68, by the way ,not 20 ! compared to most people that are 68 I'm in great shape , ate bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast /lots of butter all my life ,and partied hardy , I was in super human shape when I was 20 ( 5'7" 150 lbs ) first string linebacker high school , 11B20 Infantry (E.I.B ,1974-1978) U.S.S.F Timber dep. / wild land fire fighting,( gov. /private ) surveying, ,construction ... ! I am deeply sorry for your loss. May your dad's soul rest in peace. No material matters more than life, love and family in this world. Let's enjoy every moment while we live 🙂As for the stove, that is an awesome piece of gear that fits nicely in the Jaakari pouch. Just want to mention two tips: 1) Turn the stove to have the control nob in front of you while cooking. That way, the vent valve is pointing sideway and would not cause serious trouble in case of pressure relief from over heating. 2) Pull up the heat shield to cover up the top of the fuel tank when using large diameter cookware (as your fry pan). The heat sheild is designed to be used that way to prevent extra heat from radiating back to the fuel tank from the bottom of your cookware. Cheers!
