I've learned more watching the five Carl Cox DJsounds shows than anything that actually purported to explain how to be a better DJ. Notice how he's using sync, not using anything but the low EQ by default, and peaking in the red all the time. Most of the Internet would say this guy doesn't know what he's doing. 😂
He was one of the first techno cds I ever had back on moonshine records. 30 years, I’m 38 and still loving this. I love how he just feels the music and moves with it. I learned a lot by watching him. One thing I learned is enjoy the music, yes watch for the mix but if your not into it neither will the crowd.
JohnnyHatesJazz by what? Pressing a million buttons and making weird sounds live ? Seen mills a couple of months ago and he was so bad half the tent walked out
@@DSVN23 That's a shame, but hands down he was one of the niche personification who has contributed and showcased all the hard ships as a Dj and a Producer ( Given the luxury of pushing buttons that we have these days are vastly carried from the older and authentically analog DJs ) I'd conclude saying just "enjoy" as the times are not far where robots will replace us humans performing the art of DJing.
I met Coxy years ago as I was walking out the toilets in the legendary Shelleys Laserdome & literally bumbed into him coming into toilets, I turned around & was like "Ca..Ca...Ca...Cox..(not a word you want say in the loo;s) He was " Ya alrite man having a good night" & was left to just nod "Ye..Ye..Er..Ye.." And he just laughed showing his gap in front top teeth. The Real Heavyweight DJ Champion of the World & it should be that Carl Cox was the last DJ to play Shelley's as DJ Mickey Finn was hrs late and Cox & Man Parris kept the Club rocking for 2.30 hrs - 3hrs & Man Parris is an MC (altho used be a 80's DJ) Gr8 memories. Shelley's R.I.P or keep coming back as you do..!
Early 2000’s JP was the god of NYC Dj Times magazine dj of the year and all his remixes of popular songs!! Never will be that again in NYC going to the Factory was the safest place. Police out front and upon leaving Sunday afternoon 1 time I had a policeman 👮♂️ walk me across the street to parking lot making sure I was ok to drive back east Long Island an hour away! Couldn’t hear shit and sun so bright! I could swear my car felt like it was driving sideways lol 😂 Mitsubishi E bombs and Yellow label Fort Dodge ketamine. Holy smokes. Never again will we have a time period like that again 😢
F'kin yes, perfect way to start Friday. Very nice set. Been a fan since 99. Some of my favorite sets are from the "mixed live" series. Good to hear techno being done right. AMAZING.
Carl Cox has a crown of his own so make way for the king of techno and rock snd roll his house oh yes oh yes oh yes love carl i have a brother named carl too so dont messs with carl cox bow before him the legend
Great mix wish Carl would do a mental hardcore breakbeat set like the old days just for fun it would be insane to see him dj like back in the day I know he says this has lots of energy but compared to that it’s nothing some of them early 90s sets were outstanding check them out dreamscape Fantasia 92 93 style
At first I didn't understand why people love this guy so much. But after dayys of listening to his mixes, I asked myself why am I still listening to this if I don't understand why it's so hyped. I guess you could say that I just had to get a taste for *Cox*
Great legend DJ!! His mixing is the best technically, but he was not just Techno music, he was quality in rave jungle hardcore scene on turntables in the vinyl days only djs close are EZ, Slipmatt, DJ Hype, Andy C, Karl tuff enuff brown, Mike ruffcut Lloyd, Kenny Ken, brockie, tall Paul, Dave Pearce, Sasha , Paul van dyke, Adam Beyen
Had a long pause of techno music. Just visited this set tonight , especially a set of Carl Cox. Saw some DJ Stuff in my shorts before, nothing comparable. Carl is creating a travel thru his sets, and is doing what he does with absolute passion. 🖤 Wish I could meet him once. 😄
have enjoyed Carl Cox's music/mixing since the mid 90s and he's does not cease to amaze me!! Techno done right is enjoyable beyond belief. One observation though: those levels, you trying to blow them speakers out.. haha it's all good though, techno is made to blow speakers.. haha LOVE YOU MR. COX!!
Frederique Rijsdijk the djm-2000 actually is supposed to run on the red that’s technically at 0. It’s in the manual. There is a second second red for peaking. That mixer is a beast
It's not only awesome to See your amazing talent, but well you really know how to work the 2000s and mixer I didn't realize you were so dam good! This is just pure Bliss! Thank you so much for sharing! Would love to see one in your shows live sometime! What I wouldn't give for tickets to 1 of your shows brother! Party on man!
8:24 I can't find anywhere what that track on Deck 2 is. I think Deck 4 is Loco & Jam - Argentina. But Shazam refuses to tell me what Deck 2 is, and it's given me all these incorrect tracks: Roland Clark - Beats & Djembe / Resist (Accapella) (Mixed) Hoost - Daring (Original Mix) Camelphat & Elderbrook - Cola (Mousse T.'s Glitterbox Mix) Richard Ulh - Bumping Madness Ba - Anywhere Gareth Stirling - Wallop
If I could come back as someone else in another life I’d come back as this man. What a true pioneer of his craft. From youth to his mid 50s here he is killing it !! Brings happiness to millions year after year after year ! Humble, real, genuine. How it should be
Can't get bored...his skills his music his energy ... the way he has fun...poor little machines putted to the test! Great dj! He knows where he wants to go.
I don't mean to troll, but was wondering why every single channel is in the red? Doesn't that cause clipping? Surely Carl Cox the legend wouldn't play in the reds without a reason. Someone enlighten me please!
Julien L. If you read the manual on the DJM-2000 at the first red light it is actually at true 0. The mixer is designed to run in the red but 2 red bars means you are peaking. That mixer is really different than most. It’s a beast!
Thanks so much for the explanation @Morgan Hays I knew there had to be a reason. That makes a lot of sense. More people probably have been confused before hence the recent addition of the "clip" indicator. I have to read the manual of my DJM900 Nexus 1 now to be sure I know where the true 0 is :) Interestingly, the Pioneer video for the DDJ-1000 also shows the vu-meters lighting up in the red, which I found surprising. But I guess as long as the "clip" indicator is off, it's good. I think it is a shame to use red lights to mean "you're fine", but I'm glad I understand it now.
I can't find anything about the VU-meters in the DJM-900 NXS manual: www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/DJ/DJM-900nexus_OperatingInstructions070511.pdf
