I love the idea of stage racing overall as far as points go. I would hate seeing a driver doing great the entire race just to have some shmuck cause him to wreck, with 5 laps to go. Half way through the race NASCAR creates a less safe race scenario by throwing a caution where the cars are now bunched back up, causing a better chance that cars will make contact when the green flag returns. Catl Edward's was a smart man who valued health and happiness over manipulation disguised as a safety concern, that ny happening increased the odds that a crash would occur involving several cars with the drivers inside whose chances of possible injuries are increased due to the pack being stacked back up by the yellow that shouldn't be thrown unless doing so is to regain control over a safety issue, ie. a wreck or a car losing parts or dumping a crankcase full of oil on the track. A potato chip bag blowing around the track won't destroy a tire and cause a crash, but it will push chosen drivers back into contention if it's used to throw a caution and let chosen drivers catch back up to the the pack if a small issue put them a half lap down. Carl was smart to walk away from what NASCAR was destroying by their decisions that, in some cases, decreased drivers' safety. NASCAR and their boneheaded decisions have destroyed their brand, and stock car racing at its top level quit being fun for everyone, and we are berter off supporting local tracks, even if its a short quarter mile on dirt, ots still real racing without NASCAR screwing it up.

@Therealcrazyhands
@Therealcrazyhands Месяц назад
So if there is a wreck in F1 what happens?
@TunaNoKetchup
@TunaNoKetchup Месяц назад
@@Therealcrazyhands Depends on the type of wreck. There are so many variables that you'd have to mention a specific situation. The current safety systems that exist on track are single yellows, double yellows, Virtual safety car, full safety car and redflag. Virtual safety car, full safetycars and redflags are the only ones that can affect the race which can either be positive or negative. For example if the leader hadn't pit yet, they now get a "free" pitstop under a VSC or safety car or redflag without losing track position. But if the leader had pitted and built a gap, his advantage gets erased under safety car and redflag situation. Safetycar situation is always the last resort and are only brought out after assessing the situation. Redflags are usually called after a safety car but this only get called if the barrier need repairing, a car is stuck in the barrier or there are multiple cars involved. Also if it's raining there are more inclined to call a redflag coz of the reduced visibility. It isn't as black and white, it isn't perfect but it works are whether a racer race gets affected or not is for the most part down to luck...

With this present scoring system, a dominant driver throughout the year can win 10 or more races, strongly compete for more wins, and lose the championship to someone who wins around 4. All because of a flat tire or something in the last race. Its ridiculous. The series is on a road to failure. Maybe it will so racing can be rebooted.

Spot on. I could maybe understand this in F1 or IndyCar where passes and lead-changes are rare. That's why they added things like DRS in F1 and some new thing in IndyCar, to try to provide more competition during the race. Throwing contrived/planned flags in the middle of a race just to stop the race and bunch people back up is bizarre. It defeats the spirit of racing, punishing the drivers who have worked so hard to gain the lead they have earned.
@williamharrolle8349
@williamharrolle8349 2 месяца назад
I agree with him that if a driver gets an advantage is because they worked on their equipment to meet the drivers skills. That's what racing is. Speed to equipment to tires and fuel for the length of the race and first car to finish wins. Same thing restrictor plates done. Nows it who stays out of the crashes win instead of the best skill of mechanical and skill for driving to the limit of his equipment.
