This was one of my favorite bristol races. :) RIP the old bristol configuration. Bruton Smith killed this track by grinding that top groove. You'll never see the grandstands that full at Bristol again...
I know. I remember after the race Carl was saying "there was a second where I thought of letting off but then I thought 'would he do this to me?' And the answer I got in my head was 'yes' so thats why I nudged him a little bit but he can whine all he wants everyone knows its expected." Lol but I was at the race in Fontana, California right after this and everyone was looking forward for some grudge match type stuff but nothing ended up happening. Jimmie Johnson owned the field and laped circles around everyone but nevertheless it was a good fun race to be at. I enjoyed myself. Only been to 2 races and Jimmie Johnson won both times lol btw he was dominant over that 5 year period, nobody was close. My favorite driver was Edwards and Kasey Khane but they never really had too much shine for very long.
My dad picked a perfect race to take me to my first nascar race. I'd only been to local dirt ovals a few hundred times before that and was amazed at how big this stuff can actually get. I loved the end when carl spun kyle for his shitty act after the race. Couldn't believe I got to witness that.
At the 5:40 minute mark you can see me over Carl's right shoulder. I am the tall crew member wearing the victory lane hat... LOL I forgot about this youtube video... lol
I drive big bloc modified modified for years had a great career with great drivers around I have never seen so much dirty drive like nascar . Thank You .
The most exciting track became the most boring track. It's like Fontana and Chicago lands younger brother. Long runs, cautions at the end and somehow a debris caution right before the green flag pit stop sequence would start.
This is why I love Carl. He's the master of racing AND class. Keeps his poise through Kyle's retaliation and does the right thing to get him back. Go Carl 99!
"One thing is a given. You either commit yourself as a professional racing driver, that is designed to win races or you come 2nd or you come 3rd or you come 5th. And I'm not designed to come in, 3rd, 4th or 5th. I race to win. And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver" Ayrton Senna, 3-time Formula 1 Champion.
to be honest, they are all race cars, and its pretty cool to have foreign cars in Nascar. its like eating pizza here in the u.s.a. while it was made in italy.
So true about the 50's 60's and 70's, marvelous cars. It actually was my sisters toyota camry '07ish and every time I was in it I was afraid it was going to break down at any second. Then it did. One thing I will say about ALL new cars is I will never own one, way too much stuff to go wrong in them. I'm not a Ford fan, the last one my brother was forced to drive it stalled every time we put it into reverse. I don't know, I guess every Chevy I've driven it's been a damn fine vehicle.
I was at the race right after this in Auto club Speedway in Fontana, California and everyone was so hyped for some good old grudge match racing but Jimmie Johnson ended up leading pretty much from lap 1 onward and i thought Kyle and Carl would have some interesting exchanges at leadt but they stayed out of each other's way and the field was kinda keeping them separated on purpose but I honestly think they took the restrictor plate off Jimmie's car that day because he was trouncing everyone and it wasnt even close lol.
I don't know what kind of Japanese car you bought, but every one I've owned ran flawlessly and reliably past 250k. Don't get me wrong though, US cars are just as good as any Japanese car nowadays. Not to mention there isn't a single car in the world that can match the beautiful machines we made in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. My first vehicle I ever bought was a 1969 Ford F100; beautiful machine that still runs and is used by my dad as a daily driver. Pleasure to work on too.
@SuperBen37 thats an awful thing to say, earnhardt wasnt a damn f1 driver he actually raced and if u were in his way u got moved thats the way it is in nascar and to say carl was racing dirty is ignorant, hell i bet kyle has done that exact move 100 times to other people... they always used to say about nascar at short tracks if your chrome horn was tore up you were racing but if your rear bumper was tore up you were in the way
I agree. He could end up luck his brother. Look at Kurt raced with Rousch until 2005 when he got a ticket for something. Got released. 6 years later gets released from Penske for mouthing off too much. One of these days Gibbs is gonna say enough and Kyle is gonna be hurtin
Hey you guys at toyota why did you put a transmission in the corrolla thats for a gocart one of the best selling cars in the world? I was going to buy another one but not this year!
@lbennie I'm Australian, I love Nascar, and I believe you are right. Payback is childish and this sort of thing damages Nascar. I wish they were more mature then this and kept the attitudes out of the sport. I want racing not whining and grudges. May as well lit housewives drive if is gonna come to this. Actually if this happened in V8 Supercars down here they would be fined for bringing the sport into disrepute.
yeah it is, however, it is still good, and im just trying to prove that no matter where toyotas come from, they are still in nascar and are probably here to stay.
No because if they hadn't changed the points, all of the teams would have approached the races differently and they would likely have had very different outcomes. If there was no Chase, teams wouldn't experiment with different setups near the end of the regular season, etc.
well i'm sorry that i don't look up some no-lifes calculations on the old points system. i'm going with tony stewart on this one, it's not the old system so why do you even bring it up, we haven't used that system in 6 years.
i wish they didnt change the points i agree carl should have won 2011 and i dont like someone winning the whole championship buying winning 5 races the last 10 races even though carl finished better then tony through out the season and winning as many races (i think)
I can't really take a side on this race I love both the guys. Carl for his good attitude and Kyle for his amazing driving...just wish he could lose his pissy mods swings.
