Bushnell Launch Pro - I no longer have it because I traded it for the GCQuad. I would still recommend this as the best portable launch monitor for most people.

If you are not in the US, the Launch Pro is not available for you so I would recommend the Foresight GC3. It is the same exact launch monitor with different branding.

Nice review, as always. FYI, my understanding is that the baffles are to stop a high REBOUND off the net that could travel too far back toward the player, not to stop the ball BEFORE it hits the net.

Interesting. I was thinking about adding them. I can’t see much in the photos they have on the website.

Is the texture of the new screen different from the old one? (both premium)

Great video thank you for doing this. I'm currently looking at a projectors and I looked but didn't see any videos of yours on that subject. Do you like the benQ? would you recomend it for 1080p simming? Would you go 4k if you had the chance?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 10 месяцев назад
I don’t have much experience with different projectors. I have the BenQ TH671ST and don’t have any real complaints that I can think of. Installing it I realized how nice it would have been to have both horizontal and vertical keystone adjustment (it has vertical only). Obviously 4K is much more expensive. If I ever moved my sim inside the house I would probably opt for 4K. Since it’s in the garage 1080p is just fine for me. I don’t think anybody ever complains about 1080 but people do say 4K is worth it. Unfortunately I can’t say from experience.

@@friendlygolferdotcom Really great videos. I’m using the exact same Projector & Carl’s enclosure 8X10.5 setup. I find my picture to be just okay. When I type the dimensions and projector into Projector Central it’s given a low score as well. Do you have any complaints with your picture being not bright & sharp enough? Do you plan on upgrading your projector at all?

Thanks for the review! Question - Would you recommend side curtains and/or top netting for the occassional errant shot?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 10 месяцев назад
It depends on your setup. I hit about 10.5 - 11 ft from the screen and my hitting strip is offset pretty far to the right side. I have gotten a few shanks that miss the enclosure completely. If I was hitting from dead center they probably would have hit the side of the enclosure. I have some side nets left over from my net return pro that I tried out with the Carl’s enclosure but since my wall is only a few inches a way the ball would still hit the wall through the net. Most of the time I just leave some extra foam tiles leaning against the right wall. As for the top, I’ve never come close to going over. My 58* wedge might hit the very top of the screen or the back of the enclosure but it’s not close to the front edge at all. Hope that helps!

Scratch that. I’m about 11.5ft from screen

Thanks for all your videos, they're all very helpful. I'm buying the exact same enclosure, but I can only be 9 feet from tee to screen. Will this be too close to hitting the enclosure with a driver swing? I'm considering getting a custom one made that's only 4 feet deep instead of 5. Do you have any insight on this?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 7 месяцев назад
9 feet is on the closer side but I don’t think it would be a big issue. I’m at 11.5ft and have thought about moving closer. 10-11 ft is probably average. Just keep the screen on the looser side to reduce bounce back. Since you are going to be closer I’m sure the 4ft depth would be ok but I would opt for the 5ft unless you have another reason not too.

Great video, im looking to order the same enclosure u showcase on the video. Can u specify the size gutter foam u use and how many you use? To fill the screen, what resolution did u need to set up on ur pc? Thank you

I have the 8x10.5' enclosure friendlygolfer.com/recommends/carls-place-diy-enclosures/ I think I have 7 pieces of 4ft gutter foam. 2 on both sides and 2-1/2 across the top. The resolution I ended up on to fit the shape was 1480x1080. Hope that helps!

What do you for flooring/carpet between the hitting mat and the screen? We are working on building a similar setup and we were looking at foam pads with carpet over the top, but yours almost looks like putting green. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the informative videos!

Mine is custom from Big Moss Golf and I have foam tiles underneath. The foam tiles probably aren't necessary but I already had them there. Big Moss custom makes these to fit the space you have. I could have bought a roll of putting turf but I wanted the truest possible roll and ran out of energy for DIY.

I am really intrigued by the C-Series. Do you find that you get any bounceback / ricochet off the cable along the bottom? I'll have some beginner golfers so want to make sure that any wormburners will not be a safety concern.
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 4 месяца назад
I have never had a problem with the cable at the bottom. It’s possible a ball could get under the wire and behind the screen but it would have to be basically rolling on the ground to do that. I find the ricochets are more likely to happen off the framing around the screen. I would recommend using their foam padding that can be added on or you can use gutter foam from Home Depot.

You still have some waves in the new setup. Have you messed with adjusting tension to flatten it out?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 7 месяцев назад
I have not messed with it because the waves were much less than the old screen and I was already happy with it. I left the zip ties a little on the loose side to be safe. I may go back and tighten them at some point but when the projector is on I don’t notice the waves at all so I just never want to mess with it.

I’m looking at getting this setup myself. 9x12…looking to stand 11-12’ away but worried my 60° will go over the 5’ enclosure. Any thoughts?

I'm about 11.5ft away and my 58* will hit above the screen but it's nowhere close to missing the enclosure. Feel free to email me if you need any more help - bobby@friendlygolfer.com

How do you feel about the canvas quality? We’re about to pull the trigger on 5 of the 15’ deep enclosures through carls place and it’s not cheap. Any cons from the enclosure?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 8 месяцев назад
To be fair these are the only enclosures and screens I have experience with. The C-Series is definitely an upgrade over the previous version because you can get the screen a little tighter with less bounce back. You will get little burn marks on the screen from high spin wedge shots but you can’t see them when the projectors on and I’ve heard that’s typical of any screen. My take is that all the enclosures are somewhat similar but Carl’s offers the best value and let’s you add only the extras you want. Every experience I’ve had with their company has been great as well.

I was thinking of getting the same enclosure kit 8x10.5. I have about 12ft just like you. You think I can get away with an 8.5x11.5? Or was the 8x10.5 was just right?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 8 месяцев назад
My walls are exactly 12ft and the 10.5 is a perfect fit. There’s about 6” of space on each side of the enclosure. The enclosures are not exactly 10.5. They have a pdf on their website with the exact dimensions. I would double check that but it’s a perfect fit for me.

Have you ever had any balls go through the enclosure at the Velcro seams in the right corner? I have another enclosure and shanks will definitely go through the Velcro seams themselves. Incredibly annoying. Thanks!
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 6 месяцев назад
Yes I have. The gutter foam helps to stop the balls sometimes but not always. I haven't really figured out a solution other than to stop shanking it lol
