@@anothercomment3451Santana's voice is stronger than Gary Moore's. You know immediately, after one note that it's Carlos. Can't say the same for Gary Moore.
"Revelations" is a real revelation for everyone who loves that kind of music, for everyone who loves Santana! The dynamic process of this song from the beginning to the end is really unique!!!
+Ramsés Pérez Pinzón It is the Humbucker + using of the Volume knob all the time. He picks and then increases the volume. That makes the picking silent.
The Yamaha SG (played here) is by far his best tone, he said he stopped playing them because they are heavy and hurt his back and shoulder. But they are THE best sound he ever had.
@BluesLicks101 I absolutely agree. Never was bowled over by his PRS tones. It's still Carlos beautiful melodic playing, but the Yamaha years as well as his Gibson SG years , were tone that was golden in it's godlike beauty.
This is my favorite track by Santana. It starts slow and builds to the crescendo. I even used this track to wake up to for several years. By the time it was over, I was wide awake! And ready to start my day.
1977 después de llegar de la escuela ponía este disco en mi estéreo y pretendía ser Carlos Santana tocando con una guitarra imaginaria este tema y los otros del album Festival y soñando en aquella pequeña sala de mi casa. Gracias Carlos Santana.
From the days when Carlos felt his music deeply. Sensational. I agree with with many above... The Yamaha guitar had the tone; not too muddy, not too distorted, not too many effects, just clear and pure soulfulness. Carlos uses too many effects since then.
That is one of my favorite amongst many of his instrumentals His music is universal Thank you Carlos for being my teacher in music and spiritually in tune It great growing up with you all these years Never stop Playing 🙏❤️👍
Carlos at the peak of his powers. And yet he gets better!! This a powerful performance which reminds me of his work with John McLaughlin. Just wailing!
Beginning in 1973 w/ caravanserai till 1980, Santana introduced us to early years of fusion 🎵🎧,welcome...borboletta...love, devotion and surrender...amigos...🕯️🙏🕯️
Wonderful... Carlos Santana and Jimmy Page my greatests heroes of the strings. I love this song and I think it seems to Stairway to Heaven because it starts like a balad and finishes as rock... Kind!
It must have been the early 1970’s when I first listened to Samba Pa Ti and bought Greatest’ Hits. My first Santana album, many to follow. Revelations is one of my many favorites that inspired me to finally learn to play the guitar at age 59 (about 50 years too late). I have a long way to go, I know I’ll never get there, but I already have lots of fun trying. Thanks Carlos!
The Samba Pa Ti off Carlos's 1974 live album Lotus is a personal favourite of that song. Good luck with your playing and it sure is a lot of fun, Cheers
Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Elvis, and Carlos Santana. They transformed their musical roots into new genres and higher art that crossed all musical boundaries. Geniuses, each and everyone.
From the LP Festival, Santana on Guitar, Tom Coster Keyboards, Graham Lear Drums, the late Raul Rekow Congas, Chepito Areas Timbales, Pablo Tellez Bass. The band also performed Maria Caracoles with the Tower of Power horns on this show; that clip is available on RU-vid.
Jamais égalé. Carlos santana. Pour créer un morceau comme ça faut être un génie. Vous pouvez écouter tous qui ce fait maintenant. rien lui arrive à la cheville.
This is one of the best Santana videos I've ever seen! Amazing. It seems like so many of Santana's cd's evoke vivid memories of certain periods in my life. I'll never forget when I first bought "Festival" in the mid 90's. I sat in my little apartment and listened to it over and over. What a remarkable album. This is an awesome video! Give thanks for sharing it!
There is no greater perfection, wonder and better modulated vibration than the song of many birds, capable of transmitting authentic happiness through sound waves through the air. Humans have imprisoned, trapped and on many occasions we have also destroyed them through our catastrophic environmental actions... not many others have protected and safeguarded them, studying and conserving their habitats and territories, respecting them as a key part of Mother Nature. No one, and nothing, can sing like a bird. However, perhaps and only perhaps, Carlos Santana has been the only person on the planet capable of approaching, through the sounds of his guitars, what the birds say to each other. Thank you Carlos, the ecology of the planet owes you a lot.
It's actually an early model of the SG2000 called the Yamaha SG-175B. Carlos basically created the SG2000 with Yamaha as he was searching for a certain sound and better sustain.
I see a couple of Yamaha sponsors making all sorts of insane comments. Glasses don't bring knowledge. Yours might because you're a salesman. Guess what them Gibson guys have to say about their piece of wood and strings?!! Carlos santana has been one of the pillars of universal Rock n Roll ever since Woodstock 1969. He was a legend then and one master legend today. It has nothing to do with his Gibson, Fender, or Yamaha! Its all about his heart and soul.!
Easily 50+ live Santana concerts going back to the mid 70's. 1). The Yamaha was him and he was that guitar. 2) But I only realized this when I first saw him switching guitars in the early 80's. Newer songs got the PRS, his older he still used the SG 2000. What a difference between the two; the PRS couldn't cut through the band, he lost the feedback and frankly, the PRS sounded like shit. thirty years later it still does.
Wrong! I have one of these vintage Yamaha SG's from 1976. I also have Strats, LP's, Tele's and many others. That Yamaha has a ton to do with his sound back then.
I hate when some people claim he’s slow. He just holds back. He never sacrifices the beauty of melody for the sake of speed. But he can be fast as hell when he wants to.
