Carly Rae Jepsen's Emotion: 5 Years Later 

Over the past 5 years ive been getting deep into the album and I discovered something amazing You know the words “E” “Mo” and “Toin” on the cover art? When you put them together, it says “Emotion”! Thats the name of the album!

Still a 10, Run Away With Me is a top 10, maybe 5 song of the last decade

Main takeaway from this album is that I want Carly Rae Jepsen's jumper. It looks really comfy

I just heard Emotion and Side B+ this year, and I continue to kick myself for not having heard it sooner. It's absolutely one of my favorite albums of all time.

I think her marketing is a bit of an issue. I feel like she's one of those artists that is just surprisingly creative, but her advertising doesn't say that. Like, nothing about her marketing to me, really says "exceptionally clever", let's be real. Even though she is.

Still one of the top 10 most underrated albums of all time

7/10, 9/10, no matter what rating you feel, this album never gets old and is something I can listen to for hours. I would consider this a classic of the 2010s and a must listen for anyone who adores an 80s pop inspiration. Run Away With Me is one of my favorite songs ever, and plenty of tracks like Boy Problems and Making Most of the Night are fantastic

Please do a M.I.A's MAYA ten years later! I think this album has influenced a lot of artists right now and MIA doesn't get any credits

It’s crazy to think this album is 5 years old. I always thought this was one of the best album of that year. It annoyed me Carly didn’t get the mainstream attention like she should had. In the long run though it’s influence it’s still going so I’m happy it’s still getting recognized.

I was working at a tween-oriented mall chain during the Kiss era and was exposed to a lot of her ridiculously catchy earlier music and fell in love (Drive and TIGOY remain some of my all-time favorites). I was so disappointed that she wasn't getting the respect and attention she deserved at the time Emotion came around and although the "give Carly a sword" meme wasn't a thing yet, I felt the sentiment hard. I saw her on tour after this release and the crowd was VERY young, lots of young girls and their parents. Not necessarily a bad thing but the wider public wasn't recognizing how good she is. I was fortunate to see her again after the Dedicated release and the crowd was completely different. Significantly more adults and mostly LGBTQ+, everyone was going apeshit and it was amazing. I'm so happy she's gained the success she deserves and will remain a huge influence in pop music in years to come.

She had more than 1 hit song before Emotion dropped. Just nothing on the scale of Call Me Maybe.

You introduced this album to me and for that I'm eternally grateful. The title track is my favorite song of all time and I even got to meet her and see her live in the front row. This album means so much to me.

I remember, around the time I got into your channel, I was going through your video playlist of great album reviews and I saw this album on there. I was not a fan of pop in-general and I was surprised because I had heard I Really Like You before and thought it was silly and annoying at the time. I didn't think that the girl who made Call Me Maybe and I Really Like You could possibly make an album which you would review so highly. So I watched the review and decided that I'd give it a shot because you spoke so highly of it. Man, I'm glad I did. At first I thought it was alright, but it didn't take long for the songs to get stuck in my head and for me to love them (including I Really Like You). Now, Emotion is my favorite album of all time and I'm a full-blown Carly Stan lol. Thanks, Melon, for introducing me to my favorite artist.

Amazing how our queen Carly Rae Jepsen invented Music 2.0. Also amazing how she wrote enough tracks to release 20 albums.

I am an uneducated music consumer, but to me, Carly pretty much made the 80s sound popular and now almost everybody is nicking it from her! And I wish she were more credited and acclaimed in the mainstream. We need good positive music right now, and we should show our appreciation for people who deliver it so consistantly.

I'm loving these reflection videos. They do a great job of contextualizing the overall impact of an album - something that can never be determined immediately after a release. Reflection pieces like this should be a norm for art critique everywhere.

The Gorillaz strange times season 1 review: 3 days later.

The first time I ever heard this album I was with a group of my guy friends and I had noticed this album being released and as a joke I said "hey you guys wanna listen to this trash?" and then four songs in we were all drunk, crying and singing along so passionately. It truly was a comeback record and made me, as well as my other friends into newly passionate fans. Its one of the best pop albums I've ever heard til this time.

I'm pretty sure Carly worked on something with Jack Antonoff (for CRJ's stuff) before EMOTION or even during its conception. Just that that thing didn't get released. That's why they made sure to collab and release somethang on Dedicated. Edit: Just googled, Jack indeed worked on CRJ's album Kiss for the song "Sweetie"

This album is so good and one of my favorites. I just wish the bonus tracks were on the standard edition. Especially Never Get to Hold You. That song is soooo good.

The best pop album of the 2010s

I was on the Warfields website with card in hand to go see Megadeth. When I see also this month Carly Rae Jepsen two days before. I have always wanted to see her, just because of Call Me Maybe, also I've seen Megadeth about 20 times! So I instantly get my ticket for CRJ. Go to RU-vid to hear the album that has Call Me Maybe, and I see new release Emotion. I go to the independent record store and purchase the deluxe. It blows me away, the sound is straight from the 80's. I attend the gig with my previous Megadeth tour shirt, just about every employee tells me I'm two days early. No I chose this instead, because I Just Didn't Come Here To Dance...

EMOTION was always amazing but dont forget to listen to the new deluxe version with the 2 bonus tracks! They really bring the album to whole a different level! Favorite color (the original ending) gave us that sweet bit of hope that everything was gonna work out. Then comes the epilogue, never get to hold you, the heart clenching official demise of the relationship. Followed by the perfect bitter sweet Love again!

Emotion deserves a tribute video EVERY year, it is THAT GOOD

Pop perfection Carly is highly underrated, def in my top 5 fav artists of all time for sure!

The last big show I went to before the pandemic hit was Carly Rae Jepsen at London Brixton Academy, and I'm very happy about that :)

Her albums Emotion and on are amazing (though I haven’t been the biggest fans of her one offs outside of Cut To The Feeling). And yeah, I’m counting her Side Bs as independent albums. I like Dedicated Side B more than Dedicated, and I like Dedicated a lot just not as much as the other three albums. Emotion Side B though is an incredible collection of tracks, one which I’m up to listen to end to end whenever.

I completely ignored this album when it first came out but finally heard it a year ago. It's now one of my favorite albums. Definitely one of the best pop albums of the decade.

Coincidentally I just listened to this record front to back earlier today. But then again I listened to about 10 albums today, and will probably do so again tomorrow.

Carly really spoils the fans. In 6 years we had 2 albums, 2 B-side albums and she did voice acting which I enjoyed, plus a new Christmas song just came out. Plus a Tiny Desk concert and some other great live performances which just blew me away. I'm sad that I missed her show when she came to our country as I wasn't a fan yet but I'll keep waiting for her to come back. AND her band is amazing as well.

Runaway with me is still my favourite song from an artist not named Kanye in the last 10 years

My favorite pop album ever.

Do you guys prefer to shower at night or in the morning? Both is always an option , but I feel like I really want to nail down the 2 different axis' for this question. Honestly, this question is really interesting to me. Of course, people both have showered at night or in the morning, but what the question is requesting the listener to do is to choose which of the options you do more often, or more memorably. To me, morning showers are a task of necessity, rather than choice. While on the other hand, showers at night I feel like offer us a lot more choice. To add onto my previous point, I also feel like showers at night give us a relaxing way to reflect and wash our woes of the day, away. I shower at night.

I like wrestling a bit, but this is not my cup of tea... but idk, maybe there’s some merit to it.
