I sure enjoyed your Alaska series. I really liked your tour in Skagway. I’m glad you get another shot at Victoria. It is so pretty. It has a great little China town. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Hi Jay, I really love your videos and your reviews, but I think that you use two different scales, one for carnival and one for others companies . Without hard feelings. Danny.
For overall cruise experiences, we would definitely have individual scales for each cruise line, comparing our current experience to what we're used to from that specific line. It's not usually fair to cross-compare some cruise lines in that instance, such as comparing Carnival to Celebrity, or Norwegian to Princess. If you're talking about little things like the silly shower ratings, those are obviously just for fun, but I do have a single master spreadsheet with no preference as to what cruise line that shower came from, ha ha!! :P ~Jay
@@parodeejay thank you I am sure we will. We actually went for our 30th ? It’s been 17 years I have a twin brother that lives in Alaska we stayed with him awhile. This time a quick trip.
We were just a New York City and as we were heading back to Midtown on the hop-on hop-off bus, I spied a big C on a smokestack in the distance. I finally glimpsed the name, Venencia! It was in port on a Tuesday!
Have you ever had a full day in Victoria? We did a day trip there from Seattle, using the catamaran ferry. All because my wife needed to visit Butchard Gardens, which is definitely worth a visit.
going on Luminoso's 7 day Barrier reef trip in October and i have to admit - your small series was educational and enjoyable compared to many other reviews - especially your food coverage - thankyou from downunder
I think when they refer to the ship as a Spirit/Vista Hybrid, they're actually referring to the Holland America Vista Class, not Carnival's Vista Class.
Ohooo, that makes sense! We were wondering how the heck they had Vista class thoughts back when this ship was built, and Carnival’s Vista didn’t come out until 2016!! :P
Great review of the ship. Thanks for including the bus transfer to Vancouver. Are there other options? I'm considering doing an Alaska cruise from Seattle but flying into Vancouver.
If the timing is right, you could take a train between the two cities. The times were either too early or too late for our liking on the days we needed. I guess adding one more flight is about the only other option that we're aware of.
Luminosa didn’t get the whole rebranding because initially it was supposed to be the Costa Magica that was going to sail downunder to 🇦🇺 But whilst it was in dry dock it was bought by a Greek Ferry Company, enter the Luminosa a younger ship but she didn’t have the time needed for Carnival to do all that it should have. Not exactly the ships fault blame Carnival. From what I have heard she will get all the other Fun ship things when she next goes into dry dock. Yes I have read many negative comments, on many videos mostly by Americans, which is a shame because on the whole, we like her. Your video makes a refreshing change. Cruising Alaska, doing the transatlantic early Sept back to Australia. We did a 7 day island hopper out of Brisbane, her home in the southern hemisphere back in March, just to check her out. Thank you for your videos, you give an honest appraisal and overview. We too will have the required Jones port 4hr late evening stop in Victoria 8pm to 11.59 which is a shame, we would have liked more time there. Can’t have everything I guess, just go with the flow. Greetings from Oz 🇦🇺
Being the whale lovers that you are, an amazing place to see them is in Tofino, BC. But, you would have to do a pre or post cruise in Vancouver. We live in Vancouver and not only have seen so many whales in Tofino but, if you can believe it, in the inner harbour in Victoria. We've seen many orcas, not humpbacks. But, they truly are an amazing sight. Love your videos and your love of Alaska.
The Port Valet in Seattle is pretty good. We used it last year, flying back to Atlanta. HOWEVER....Your bags get to the airport early and our flight was later in the afternoon. They flew our bags on an earlier flight, which we were unaware of. So when we got to Atlanta baggage claim....no luggage. It took us a long time to find it at the Delta luggage room stacked back in a closet. That was a little stressful.
Interesting! We'll have to actually read the paper again, hah... we were heading off the ship to catch an Uber, and I wonder what would have become of our bags and where we would have retrieved them. That seems the same as using the standard Carnival luggage tag system, if that's the case. ~Jay
This time I tried to guess what you were going to have for dinner and I was sooo wrong because you guys tried new items LOL. Anyways, I'm excited to hear you are doing another AK cruise. I have watched ALL of your AK content in preparation for our 9/7 AK cruise. Thank you again for all you do 🙂
The jerk pork was by far my favorite entree on our cruise in May on Carnival Glory. It may have been because I had just taken a bite of the worst tasting enchiladas ever and asked for a different entree! 😂
Enjoyed that- can`t wait for the second and third trips. I never thought I`d see my hometown`s name on a cruise ship map ( 4:39 Duncan just north of Victoria) so that was cool! I wish there could be longer Victoria visits there`s so much it has to offer, and it`s such a shame there`s no time to really get a good experience.
My husband and I enjoy your vlogs almost every evening. The information you provide is incredibly valuable when we plan cruises and excursions. Love your humor and camera shots. When the weather is lousy here in Missouri we turn on your channel and feel like we’re on vacation. ❤
We are going on the Luminosa on September 7 and I was very glad to hear your impressions of the ship. This is our first trip to Alaska and we can hardly wait. Rock on!
Thank you 🖤 It was easy to read the dinner menu . Also I wish more RU-vidrs showed each place that they got with the name and the little face of who got it but that's like your guys's thing and it's one of my favorite
