Your experiment with the carnivore journey is going to help a lot of people; and what a great audience you have to share your story. I hope you continue to see improvements and keep following the experts (Dr. Cywes, Dr. Berry, Dr. Chaffee, Judy Cho, etc.) who are helping so many of us live stronger and healthier lives.

Diagnosed with T2 diabetes and a fatty liver Feb 2021. Scared the heck out of me. Refused meds and began researching diabetes reversal on RU-vid. I found Dr. Berry, Dr. Jason Fung, KetoChow (low carb meal replacement shake) and it's wonderful creater/owners the Behrs and the 2krazyketos (Floridian neighbors of yours) among a few others. My A1C was down to 5.1 within months of starting keto. I've lost 70 lbs and reversed my fatty liver. Thanks for bringing attention to this.

Good for you. You are doing fantastic. I’ve been carnivore for about 5-6 months. I was stage 1 kidney failure and pre-diabetic. Now no longer pre diabetic and a sonogram of my kidneys showed they are perfect. I’m down over 30 pounds now weigh what my doctor wants but of course I want to lose another 10 pounds. I have found cooking with lard and tallow a long with real butter is so good. I ate only turkey and prime rib for Thanksgiving lost 2 pounds. This is my way of life from now on. Oh my complexion people say I look younger. Enjoy watching from Orlando

The “carnivore glow” is the first thing I noticed about people who do clean carnivore. In my first WEEK of carnivore the deep wrinkles on my chest from a life time of sun exposure as a southern outdoorsperson were GONE. So many changes are happening so rapidly I have started to write them down. It feels miraculous! Compare that carnivore glow with the holocaust victim look of my three friends who are radical vegans. They look 20 years older than their bio age. More than one person has asked if friend “a” has cancer. She looks like she is on deaths door.

Hi from New Orleans! None of these “aware” doctors are in my city. I’m jealous that you got an appointment with one of the greats! Lost 40 lbs on keto stalled out and went on a few carbs…. Then went full carnivore and lost my last 30…..70 in total. Keep going. I think we all just want to live long and pain free without a bunch of meds! Thanks for discussing… you will help a lot of people 👍🏻

Thanks Rusty, I started the carnivore diet because of you, four weeks ago. Interesting back story. I cut weight for Brazilian Jiu - Jitsu tournaments. Once a year. I was starting to cut weight the day I watched your video. I needed to lose 13 - 14 pounds. Normally I eat fruit, chicken and rice for as many days as it takes me to make weight. But I always had to reduce the portions down to almost nothing, I was hungry all the time. When I heard you say you could eat as much meat as you wanted, I jumped on board. I’m a skeptic at heart, didn’t really care about the other benefits - just simply wanted not to be hungry. Here I am four weeks later, I’m on weight, 149 lbs. One week away from the tournament, never done that before. Not only did I lose the weight, I experienced many of the side effects you did. My fingers started to feel less puffy, I actually laughed out loud thinking about you saying the same thing. I’ve had boarder line high blood pressure since I was 30 years old. Started feeling dizzy on day 10 of diet. Took my blood pressure, 92/58. Had to immediately stop medication. It’s normal now, I take zero medication. I feel great, mentally, physically and sleep like a baby. Don’t know if I will stay on this diet after next week. I know I should. I like red wine and M&M chocolate covered peanuts too much. But I have to say I haven’t felt this good since high school, I’m 66 years old.

Just say you know I have been on carnivore for about 6 months. After about 6 weeks you don't crave those sweets anymore. I was a chocoholic and I stopped craving the chocolate. I still have it in my fridge for when my kids come, but don't eat it. And a couple times per week I have 1 or 2 glasses of wine with dinner. That and dairy will slow your progress, but you can still have it if that's what it takes to keep you on this. The other thing I would not give up is avocado which I still have occasionally. But instead of chips I used chicken carnival crisps. Very doable.

Great stuff Rusty and interesting. I’m on a modified Keto diet that is medically supervised and doing fine for 3 weeks. I too decided to celebrate Thanksgiving. I didn’t go crazy with the carbs, but I did partake. I went home and felt terrible. Before Thanksgiving:My CGM readings were 106-110 and I’m diabetic. I was able to ditch 1 insulin and dial another back in a big way. I was sluggish and got terrible leg cramps at night. All went away with keto. Thanksgiving - 2-3 hours after the celebration and bad leg cramps back, blood sugars shot up to 300! I felt terrible. The next day I gladly went back to keto and blood sugars dropped to normal and leg cramps all gone. I know I can do this keto for life and that is the plan. No more celebrations like that!

@josephzaccaria7654 I honestly am so proud of you. Your conditions/symptoms sound a lot like mine were when I started Keto - then transitioned into Carnivore. With keto alone (staying under 20 total carbs/day) my blood sugars were extremely slow to respond. I finally decided to do a 30 day carnivore challenge and that is where the "magic" happened for me. Speaking just for myself, and my own experience, after just 30 days on strict Carnivore - keeping as close to zero carbs as possible, All of my conditions either greatly improved or went away entirely. My psoriasis though did take about 60 days to clear (and it has never returned) and the reversal of high blood pressure happened closer to my one year mark when I reached my maintenance weight. All conditions I struggled with - once gone, have never returned. It has been almost a full 5 yrs now. I fully believe that it will remain that way unless I would somehow return to my old way of eating. So though I started Carnivore as a 30 day challenge, - when I hit the end of those 30 days, I had noticed such great improvement, that I gave it another 30 days - by the end of the 60 days, I no longer was experiencing cravings, I didn't feel hungry all the time. I felt happy emotionally. Carnivore has been such a life saver for me in every sense of the word. I have also found that the longer i've remained in the Carnivore lifestyle, the more my confidence in my ability to be around, and handle food has increased 1000%. This is a huge change for someone who thought about food constantly. At this point, I have no problem being around people who are eating the food I used to love - I am not attracted to it and it is not any sort of temptation for me. If I go out to eat - I order a big steak, or aI order seafood/fish - and I don't feel in any way - deprived in any sense. I honestly now enjoy my own homecooked foods 100X more than convenience foods or even restaurant foods. I hope others who are suffering with ailments find this lifestyle, and give it a chance to help improve their life. However, everyone is different and everyone has to find their own path.

Thank You Rusty for sharing your journey. You have motivated me to get back to business on Keto Carnivore. Was Keto for 3 years lost 70 pounds then the whole covid ordeal threw me for a loop. Your sharing has motivated me to get back on track, and feeling better. A really good channel for a Carnivore Cook is the Ketogenic Woman, I have followed her and watched her lose abt 145 lbs. She is the most creative Carnivore Cook I have seen on you tube. Best of Luck to you Rusty!

Hey Rusty your channel just found me today when I was searching for what life was really like in the villages. As I was checking them out your carnivore segment caught my attention. Wow much of your journey is much like mine. The circumstances are different but the journey has been similar. I’m very petite but was was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in my late 40’s. I moved to central Florida from New England 5 years ago and a few months later developed symptoms of MS. Long story short I started doing some deep reach on what caused these symptoms. All of my research opened my eyes to food. I first tried keto and within 2 months all of my physical symptoms cleared! I’m 69 now and I’m healthier than I was in my 40s. I’m more of a carnivore now but like you I fall off the wagon on holidays and sometimes when I go out to eat with friends. I know exactly what. My body can handle. I don’t mind spending a few days in bed after my holiday binges..it’s always worth it. Of all the influencers I have checked out over the past 4 years you have become my favorite. Actually I don’t follow any of them as I don’t feel the need to but you are different in with the info that you share. Maybe it’s because we are boomers. Anyway I love your channel on both your health, the Village, and financial knowledge. I just came upon you today so I look forward to checking out the rest of your videos. God bless you Rusty😊

I very much appreciate your information especially of your CGM results! I just completed 14 days of using my Lifestyle CGM. I’m not Diabetic also, but choose to purchase the L.S. CGMs for the knowledge. WOW! What a shocker when I saw Glucose spikes when I drank coffee with “Oatmilk” & S.F. Syrups. Here was my issue, I switched to “Oat-milk” from Dairy Milk because I’ve been recently prescribed Atorvastatin for high cholesterol. Now on 30 Nov., I just switched Oat-milk to Heavy Cream and trying to wean myself from S.F. Coffee Syrups.

I'm heading towards carnivore. Currently finishing vegetables. Hoping to resolve lower body achiness. Got frozen berries, I will be eating a little, along with sprouted seeds, some nuts, raw milk kefir, cream. Planning on ditching the cheese for right now to facilitate weight loss. I have already lost 30 lbs, down to my last 5 lbs, but going on more visual subcutaneous fat. Starting on toning upper body soon. Eat mostly ruminent meat, fish, shellfish, eggs. Not much chicken or pork due to being soy and corn fed. Im with you! I watch Cywes too.I live at a 55+ snowbird park in Cali by the Salton Sea.

While you are "not giving medical advice," you deliver well thought out, thought provoking, information for others to understand. I am on day 24 and have lost (only) 18.2 lbs 🤔. The path you are going down is so realistic, others will relate! The "references/shout outs you mention have led me to great resources. Parallel lives, however I am most likely a type AA personality/OCD" (self diagnosed). My" cheats" have mostly beer, not wanting to waste anything, I finished my last ~18 over the 24 days of my new lifestyle. Thank you for your candid style. Sorry for the prior microwave comment, just 🤡ing around.

Glad you were taking a reasonable approach to this. When my kids come into town and we go out to dinner I eat off a little bit. And let's face it, the worst thing about eating out is the seed oils that they use to cook. I will eat some asparagus and sometimes salad. I ate some coconut shrimp and some lobster and crab cakes which obviously had some sort of breading in them and cooked in seed oil. Yes I felt awful for a couple days but we had fun. I don't beat myself up for eating off once in a while. I usually gain 2# and it takes a few days to lose it. to 7 months carnivore and I eat a variety of meats. Eat avocado too. Wine and rarely beer. Live life 😊

I love that Dr. Berry states that there is a spectrum of the Proper Human Diet…Keto to Carnivore…everything from one end to the other. And there may be phases of your life where super strict Lion Carnivore is best for you, and then phases where much less restrictive keto works well for you. Flexibility in responding to your bodies cues and clues is the key.

Hey, Rusty! I am a food writer. Great job on cooking your steaks. To add more flavor to your meats try adding spices. They will help alleviate the monotony of eating bland food. If you consume quite a bit butter why are you concerned with amounts of heavy cream? Butter is made from cream. Enjoy a delicious cream sauce over your steaks here and there.

I think it’s it’s going to help a lot of people including yourself but I did not hear you talk about triglycerides when you talk about your lipids I’m gonna be watching you closely only because it’s interesting for me and I’m gonna learn something and because I have been on keto for a year. Well I did keto for six months and then after that I fell off and I’ve been off and on. But I have like you what they call pre-diabetes but I also have fatty liver and my triglycerides are up in the 140s I think 150s something like that so I’m 62-year-old woman who has also fed my body a lot of junk but again, thank you for doing this.

Hi Rusty. Curious if you experienced a surge of hunger and cravings that you had to fight as you returned to carnivore? We took a break over Thanksgiving as well and have been struggling to overcome hunger and cravings since then. Today I decided to allow myself to eat as much as I wanted as long as it was carnivore to address the hunger (which I know is in my head). Expecting that will be the path that then gets this back on track. The addiction sure seems real!

Newfangled we call that a mini-prime. It’s your body telling you that it NEEDS the nutrients from carnivore foods that it know will satiate! Go with it for as many days as you need to clear the garbage foods again. as I’m sure you know from your past eating carnivore appropriate foods your body will not allow you to overeat once satiated!

I think approaching the holiday meals are creating some anxiety for those of us trying very hard to stay on track with the lowcarb no sugar track. The whispers… “it’s ok to let go for special occasions” are troublemakers! I have to swat them away and rechannel my mind to the good stuff, by reminding myself that all the need of undoing the moments of pleasure will probably bug me more than the value of brief moments of pleasure. Still… easier said than done when the family wants a Christmas buffet! oh by the way, I found that the curing acids from store bought bacon are problematic. The fix is to just buy slabs of fresh pork belly and slice up homemade bacon. I fry them, cool them, freeze them. Ready to eat out of the freezer. I recommend it. by the way, when you popped up on my feed… my first thought was… he’s like a handsome Robert Redford!

Hello Rusty, I used to be TheOriginalGrib and I live up the street from you. We met on the street one evening. I'm not doing carnivore, but I learned how to get my weight under control by balanced eating. I used to eat by treating my body like a circus tent for 60 years. Being 6'3, weight was never an issue for me until I became 40. Then I became obese and pre-diabetic and the doctor threatened to put me on meds. I didn't want that, so I tried a low carb diet. It worked, I lost tons of weight, and I got all my numbers under control (except BP). But eventually, I went crazy and ate everything and it didn't last. I wanted to get back to it, so several years later I tried again. What I did is sort of what you are doing. I experimented so I could discover how my body reacted. I wanted to learn what I could and couldn't do. A little bit of knowledge goes a long way, right? I began by maintaining a diet that is very low in carbs. I also allowed myself to have some small things (a small serving of mashed potatoes, or a small piece of desert once in a while). Then I get right back on my program the day after. I weigh myself every day and monitor to make sure I keep my weight in the right range. In this way, I never feel deprived, and my doctor tells me my results are all fantastic. He asks me how I manage to keep the numbers in such good shape! I went from 260lbs. to 200 and I am trying to get to 190. I'm not sure if I will ever get there, and that's OK! The most important thing I found is not to be hard on myself. Just stay the course and if you slip, just be happy and get right back to it. But like you, I gain weight very easily, so I have to pay attention. Just make sure to keep your weight down. It is much easier to get your weight back down immediately, then it is if you give up and try weeks later. The biggest issue for me was bread. I love sandwiches, and I won't live without them. Now I buy Canyon Bakehouse gluten free bread and watch to make sure the added sugar is as low as I can and I'm fine. I don't eat the sandwiches all the time, only when I need one. I also eat two whole avocados a week. People say they have lots of fat, but like eggs, I think that's hogwash. They have absolutely no effect on my weight, or on my numbers. In fact, on most nights after eating avocados I lose weight. I don't think they have any adverse health effects. At least for me. Last thing: Canyon Bakehouse is gluten free bread and is very low in added sugar. I eat it toasted because it tastes awful otherwise. It's very dense and mealy when eaten thawed. I just wanted to pass along my experience in case some people don't think they can do carnivore. Persistence is key, don't rush, and don't give up. It's just a matter of discovering what your body needs in order to avoid feeling deprived. Sorry for the letter.

@RustyNelson

I do not. Mostly eat meat. I eat about 4 avocados a week. Since I'm mostly BBBE I really do not need to track.
@BalokLives
@BalokLives 9 месяцев назад
@@noreenn6976 I don't track my carbs either. But I know how much I can eat, (very little) and I try not to exceed that in a day. If I do go over, I just chalk it up to enjoying myself and I get back to work. I try to never allow myself to gain more than five pounds, which I can do very easily around the holidays or at a buffet! But if I do, I don't worry. I just go back to work the next day. The key in my diet is I don't worry about meat, fish, or low-carb items like vegetables. I eat broccoli, spinach, and carrots every day. It is bulky so it fills you up. I just avoid eating too much pasta, bread, or potatoes day after day.

I just come across your channel today. I am carnivorish and I say that because when I crave a non-starchy vegetable I will eat it. I’ve been this way of eating for 7+ years. You are definitely on the right track! Dr Cywes is an awesome Dr and I will be making an appointment with him now that I have medicare & TFL. I am in N Florida and Jacksonville is only about 90 minutes away. I am lucky that I also have a new primary care Dr who is more functional medicine and modern medicine Dr in Gainesville. My hubby does not follow my way of eating, I wish he would but that’s ok it’s his choice.

The last few games have been nail biters, love my Birds. After winning the Super Bowl, they can do no wrong. We're about to start the BBBE way, and were wondering a few things you answered with this great episode. Like what about spices, or any cheats like avocados. Another question you might have addressed and we missed it like, what about your strength level for daily activities since starting to current day? The daily menu was the big one, for a 2 meal + snack daily forever lifestyle change, to BBBE only. Steak and eggs for breakfast...bacon and eggs for lunch...snack on bacon before bed? or a combo of the sort. Oil from the bacon only? So many unknowns, more research might be a good idea. Can teens do this? Is it off to the store to get 20lbs of meat, 10lbs of bacon, 4 boxes of butter is the weekly shopping list? Those that know please feel free to help...Thank you. Thanks Rusty, you inspired us to give it a go, 60 Y/O on the short horizon....

If you are going into BBBE straight from normal American diet, with or without alcohol consumption, I would definitely do a LOT of research with the great carnivore docs on RU-vid offering thousands of hours of help (from simple layman’s terms all the way to complex chemistry). There can be some rough moments in a cold Turkey switch. (Commonly called keto flu, but basically similar to what an alcoholic or drug addict goes through during withdrawal). I did several months of extensive research before I felt ready to do this. Two weeks CLEAN keto, two weeks CLEAN ketovore and then jumped to carnivore. Note: I have never in my life smoked, consumed caffeine, or soda of any kind, so I didn’t have the heavy hitters to detox from. I DO have two autoimmune diseases (reason for trying carnivore) and a lot of inflammation. I still wound up with really unpleasant transition issues. Two days that really did feel like a horrible flu. In Bed, feverish, cold sweats, exhausted. In addition, I have had a pounding heart and escalated resting heart rate and insomnia these first two weeks of full, clean carnivore. I knew this happens to a significant number of people during the often times lengthy process of becoming truly fat adapted. It still freaked me out. I was taking electrolytes from the start in hopes of averting this mess. Went to see cardiologist this week. Everything still good with my heart. He did a full cardiac work up earlier this year (family history of death in 60s via widowamakers). CAC score zero, carotid scan no calcification, echo great, stress test great, lipids great, blood sugars borderline. I have delved more deeply this week into the pounding heart issue. There are complex reasons for it but none that appear to be reason for fear. It evidently does resolve once fat adapted (which is not the same as being ketogenic…I am well and fully consistently producing good ketones). Try to get your info from the MANY great keto/ketovore/carnivore M.D.s whose RU-vid libraries are expansive. I avoid Dr. Boz as she has become a marketing machine. Good luck nc great health to you!

Thanks for sharing your update. You are so right that the journey to optimal health is knowing what enhances your individual health and what diminishes it. And I think you were wise doing your Thanksgiving experiment because you now know the impact those foods have on your body. Since your last video I settled into a more keto leaning diet and so far I feel pretty good on keto. We went with friends to Evans Prairie CC for Thanksgiving dinner and I ate all my huge portions of turkey 1st and had just a forkful of everything else including pumpkin pie. Just doing that I I felt it the next day on the scale by being up 2lbs along with some joint aches my BP was up. Was not going to cry over spilled milk and jumped back on keto the following day. I had to chuckle when you mentioned chaffles. 😁 Actually, since I have always enjoyed cooking and creating my own recipes I am getting to be a pretty good chaffle maker and usually make a few every morning for breakfast. Thanks for sharing your journey, and I look forward to your next update.

Dr Berry has mentioned that some people may be Lean Mass Hyper responders. For 1/3 of patients , LDL may be elevated on a carnivore diet , 1/3 it may be lower and the other 1/3 may not change. If you desire, check out Dr Ken Berry’s RU-vid channel, he has many great videos. The key is you are stopping carb intake to decrease inflammation and Type 2 diabetes.
@singsongcindy8865
@singsongcindy8865 9 месяцев назад
AS others have stated you do need to spend more time reading or listening to Lipid/LDL educational info from Dr. berry and other carnivore M.D.s on RU-vid. Nutshell: High LDL accompanied by low triglycerides and high HDL is not unexpected for a subset of very metabolically healthy people on clean carnivore lifestyle. Also, the entire LDL is going to kill you argument has been medically debunked for quite sometime. Insulin resistance and metabolic disease are going to do that for you nicely. Dirty keto (including sweets) is NOT going to produce the same labs as clean carnivore. A season of clean carnivore will eliminate your carb addiction and get you on right track. You might want to read the book “Metabolical” for a good education on why the health, food, and pharma systems are working counter to your good health, and how you can change that. Good luck and good health to you.

As I walk this journey and exploring different foods, I am beginning to realise that salt and chilli make me eat more rapidly. Eg. butter. I can gobble salted butter like crazy but not unsalted. Store bought salty bacon, same effect. So… for me, salt and chilli could be risky like sugar highs. So I now buy salted and unsalted butter and I eat a bit of both. And as much as I love hot chilli, I am learning to reduce that too.
