I've lost count of how many times I've come back here and watched this. Such a magnificent performance. It inspires this amateur to practice more. Thank you.
There's no more pure love in the universe than her playing that horn. Lots of cats with talent. But talent skills and love are are a rare package of dynamite.
This is beautiful I’ve lost count of the number of times I have listened to it. Being a trombone player myself. You make what is hard look so easy. Thank you 🥰
The most wonderful trombone sound I have ever heard, played with the same style as a top vocalist. The tone is so warm it almost wants to wrap a blanket round you
This is a rare and beautiful example of how the trombone was meant to be played. My many years in symphony, opera, and studio experience makes me so proud to be part of this bone family. Thanks, Carol, for allowing us to hear your trombone sing!
I know this has been up forever but just had to comment. Most incredible tone i've ever heard from a trombone. I've been working on my range so much. With working from home all the time in the corona life i use all my breaks to practice. I think after listening to this i'm going to put a lot more into my tone. I listen to a lot of trombone players to try and learn from them and this was a real eye (ear?) opener. Genuinely never heard anything like it. Wonderful.
Thank you so much Simon - for me it’s all about air speed to keep it secure in the high register, and then you don’t need the pressure on the face - I love playing high. It’s my most favourite register on the instrument. Keep up the great work!
Dnt have to mention tone and control in the high register its all been commented, i love the expression on your face as soon as you finish a piece , sheer look of achievement 👏 👏 go on girl you do inspire me 👍
I’ve listened to this so much, I’ve even made lyrics for this song. I love this performance with my whole heart. I listened to this performance a long time ago, frequently coming back to this song. It always made me think of her. I think of parts in this piece and reminds me of the development of my feelings towards “her”. The beginning is so rich and warm which reminds me of the happiness she brought me and the feeling of safety and warmth around her. The more conflict feeling part reminds me of those moments when I felt sad, worried my love was unrequited, and wishing I could muster the courage to tell her. The song ending with a brighter happier tone being my now reality. I confessed to her, and she loves me too, and now we are dating. This song and performance are such wonderful works
I recently wrote here weeks ago... I've listened again... If this melody doesn't enrich one's soul, I don't know what would....Gracious... Thank you Carol Jarvis!!!
I ran across this performance quite by accident, but boy am I glad I did...what an inspiring presentation Carol. You make it look so easy, and I have been playing trombone long enough to know it isnt. Props to you for developing your abilities to this level. This man is totally impressed. I hope one day I am half this good. Thanks for setting the bar so high.
@@CarolJarvisMusic used to transcribe third trumpet parts and play them to goof on the trumpet section in jazz bands. Studied the Rienhart method for high notes. Pressed too hard for years lost my teeth. Sorry to sound like daddy but be careful with those teeth. Love your playing.
dudley dooright glad you like the clip. It's a Rath R1 medium bore, with a standard 6.5 AL mouthpiece. I think my finger high up on the mouthpiece makes it look as tho I have more upper lip in the mouthpiece, but it's pretty central. And I hope I haven't been hiding?! Lol! Carol jarvis dot com shows what I've been up to....! Thanks so much for listening :)
Beautiful silky tone ....flawless interpretation of a classic,Carol...just love the energy you put into the piece ...pure soul... I have been playing keyboards for almost 60 years and your trombone playing has inspired me to practice my trumpet and trombone now with added zeal....You have a gift from the Creator for sure!! Thanks for your wonderful renditions of these timeless classics,Carol...Keep giving us more....please!
She probably practices while doing a stairmaster. If you want to hear glimpses of this tone in your own playing, get an exercise bike. Does anybody know what axe she's chopping with? I want to try one like that.
How can anyone one NOT like this performance! Carol is a clear Master of the trombone, so anyone who dislikes her playing should bash their heads against the nearest wall to wake themselves up period!
I have to say, as a professional, rhythmic that is, trombone player myself, that this is absolutely wonderful played! Amazing control and very nicely interpreted! 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Carol, il suono che effondi con la tua musica non è di questo mondo. Probabilmente sei una creatura celestiale. Grazie e auguri perché tu possa così continuare. ♡♡♡
Carol is the Master of ballad trombone playing period. Anyone that doesn't see this should bash their heads against the nearest wall to WAKE SOME SENSE INTO THEMSELEVES!! No other Trombone player in human history could improve on Carol's performance of this including the God of Ballad Trombone playing - yes Don Lusher!. I think Don, may have been looking down at Carol when she played this! Fantastic performance Carol, I had better put the 2 handkerchiefs I soaked while listening to your performance in the wash now !
Carol makes the trombone sing as only a select few can (Watrous, Rossolino, Dorsey). From a fellow bone player 48 years and counting. Glad I found this clip, will share with a fellow trumpet player who has a daughter who wants to play the trombone.
