Here's a cover of one of my favorite James Taylor songs. If you enjoy this video and feel like you'd like to support me, donations can be made to my Venmo: @George-Clements-1 Thanks! -GC
I remember when James Taylor introduced this... it drew us into a misty melancholy that both soothed and tormented. Since him, I have never - ever - heard anyone do this cover with his spell. You just did. Stopped me in my tracks. Beautiful. You captured the whole magic, sorrow, longing and hints of hope. Simply beautiful. I'd love to experience your performances live one day.
The word 'tormented' applies beautifully to any art that makes you remember what you've been through. Maybe some people have been through hell (addiction, abuse, loss) and this music speaks to them. So yeah, I'd say 'tormented' is a fair word to apply to art or music.
He signed for Apple. Must have played this to the Beatles first. Taylor’s Something In The Way was borrowed by George Harrison and the line “dark side of the Moon” was probably the inspiration for a certain rock album.
Show me a better cover.....exactly. From singing, playing, composition to everything in between, this was a phenomenal performance. You deserve every view and like you get. Honestly, you have that tone and and a strong likeness to Taylor's voice.
Dan, I’ve listen to all the videos from this guy. I’d can his picking simply flawless. Amazes me every time I try to any type of missteps, timing, just twinges of buzz anything. Blown away with each song from George.
@@johnloyacano2029those who don’t play finger style don’t realize how hard that is to do. Not to mention that he’s singing beautifully while playing. George makes it look effortless because he’s put thousands of hours into his craft.
This guy is beyond 5 times distilled smoothness! I’ve been playing guitar for many decades and let me tell ya, this here is true talent. Take your show on the road 👍
I'm one of those people who's almost sad that a sublime performance like this doesn't fade away in the air, never to be heard again. Then I realize how thankful I am that I can listen again when I wish.
That's a dub. I think he records the sound outside. You don't get that voice recording with a mic so distant from your mouth. He's very talented either way.
@@GeorgeClementsMusic Excellent sound, George.. what is that "one source" you're running your guitar and mic into? A Focusrite or preamp of some sort? Keep it up, brother...
I stumbled upon your channel trying to learn Never Going Back Again and i couldn't stop watching your cover over and over. I don't know what's better your voice or guitar skills, theyre both off the charts. Just wanted to give you some roses because you definitely deserve them my friend. Thanks again for all the amazing covers 🙏
I don't know what you did to be picked up by the algorithm, but youtube has been recommending one of your videos to me every single time I log in, so I gave in and clicked. Solid cover man.
Omg, finger picking songs are the best. I stopped playing almost 4years ago, but the souls needs music, not just listening to it, but to play it! I have my beautiful fender. I'll do it. Thank you.
Hi George, I'm about to become your biggest German fan. Too bad I just know D chord and A7 so far. But your video is total motivation to me. The "old" folk legends started out just like you some decades ago. Thanks for sharing!
once you learn G C D you know hundreds of songs. throw in Em and you have a great start. i played a little guitar in my 20s (was total crap) and really started to learn in my mid 50s. highly recommend in person lessons. best wishes from Canada
Hey George --- typical perfect execution from instrument to voice. My question is --- who is the idiot that gave this performance a --- "thumbs down". Unbelievable!!!!!
This is a harder song to play than meets the eye (or ear). Lots of intricate tonal changes as the chords transition. I have always liked the original version of the song rather than Mr. Taylor’s later iterations of it. On the original, there is a riff Mr. Taylor plays after the lyric, “there ain’t no doubt in no one’s mind that love’s the finest thing around. Whisper something soft and kind” that I have loved since I heard it on the original album when I was 11 years old! Something about that 3 second guitar riff that stuck with me.
Wow, I’m so glad to have found your channel. With this song you’ve not only got the notes right, you’ve got the expression and touch. Absolutely lovely.
Really great George! The way you make it look and sound relaxed is proof of how much work you put into playing this song. It is an not easy song to play but you have gone beyond the technical mastery into the emotion and color. Really great!!
Never saw James play but I caught Liv in a little club off Route One in Boston in the 70s. You play just like JT and superbly; near flawless, it seems. Very very nice. Don't think I'm not gonna go sit at the piano, now.
Dude - this was such an amazing find for a Monday morning, while I'm sipping my coffee. Someone else said it best I think: "From singing, playing, composition to everything in between, this was a phenomenal performance." Absolutely Mind-blowing and incredible cover of one of my favorite songs as well. I've wanted to learn to play this song for what seems like forever, and I wish I could play this even half as well as you do. I wanted to physically applaud you at the end of this one. Unreal, man.
Such smooth guitar playing there, I've heard lots of covers and even guys teaching this on RU-vid sound disjointed, that's not meant to disrespect them because its a massively difficult song to play, but to play it this well and smooth is super impressive. To sing it soo well then, well, what can I say.. brilliant.
Alright I've not watched a handful of this guy's videos after finding his channel this morning, and it blows my mind that he isn't like world famous yet. This dude is so wildly talented and it's like everything, his playing, singing, all of it. Wtf.
You play two shining stars of the Cosmos it's so pleasant to listen to, Never Going Back Again and Carolina In My Mind The planet is in great need of people like you in the equilibrium for peace, no for the weapons yes for the guitars
Beautifully done! Thanks so much! For me music carries me on a journey to my past. As my time gets shorter, my memories and those that I have love, and those that truly loved me occupy my waking hours. GOD bless all!
Bravissimo George...ottimo strumentista e voce meravigliosa! Voi statunitensi avete delle timbriche davvero pazzesche! Adoro il genere folk country....semplicemente meraviglioso! Ciao Well done George...excellent instrumentalist and wonderful voice! You Americans have some really crazy sounds! I love the folk country genre....simply wonderful! HI
Best cover of this song I have seen. It is not easy to play a guitar James Taylor style, and you have it down. Everybody down here in North Carolina will love your version.
Not many people can do James Taylor songs as well as you just did. I’ve been a James Taylor fan my whole life and you just did one of his covers better than anyone I’ve ever heard. You’re picking was spot on and you have a totally smooth and beautiful voice. Thank you for sharing
Wow, this is absolutely beautiful. There are no weak spots. Your voice is so inspiring and your playing is flawless. This is one o my favorite James’ tunes and Ive no doubt he would be ecstatic to see what you’ve done with his composition. Bravo
Beautiful Carolina in my Mind cover George!! Excellent vocal and acoustic finger picking! I just posted my version of this song today, and saw your cover. Extremely well done! Steve
Thank you George for providing me with that feeling you only get every once in a while, when you discover something or someone new on YT that makes your heart sing. As a big fan of the singer/songwriter genre, you sir, do my heroes proud. It's rare to find someone on YT doing songs like these so well; the voice, the playing and let's not forget the recording, it's all very, very pleasing indeed. I am hitting SUBSCRIBE now and urge everyone else discovering this artist to do the same!
