Definitely the best match of the tournament thus far! Wozniacki was so dynamic coming to the net. Svitolina really had to dig deep to pull this win out!
Very exciting match. Congrats to Elina for going through to the semifinales, eventhough i was hoping for Caro. They really did play well both of them. Suprised how aggresives Caro was today, when you think of how defensve she noramlly is.
It was a good play from both of them. Caro played well but Elina played even better. I like both of them but of course, I wish victory for our Elina! She deserves it. She´s the best player of the white group. Go, Elina! I believe that she can take the title this year.
So happy for Elina I have been watching her since Bollettieri Academy days she deserves the win !! Go Elina go and win the whole Tournament for yourself xo
Svitolina has been able to absorb the power of Kvitova and Pliskova and withstand the consistency and amazing defense from Wozniacki so she should be able to handle the likes of Stephens, Kerber or Bertens whoever gets through. It's too early to say but maybe if she can win this title, it will help her achieve grand slam success like it did with Amelie Mauresmo and Caroline Wozniacki winning the Australian Open the following year
Caroline had this one in the bag it seems in the first two sets. I am amazed at how Svitolina fought so well; if she wins the whole thing a grand slam might be next in line. And both girls played with so much all-court skills. I enjoyed the match a lot even though Woz lost lol.
Crap, Svitolina has started grunting, something she never did before. Muguruza and Halep also never grunted, bt are now full time grunters. Muguruza sounds like she had diarrhea while being stabbed and Halep has a thunder wheeze.
@wayne I think the OP meant to highlight only those players that didn't use to grunt; I also find it sad that Elina is adopting this shit tactic :( Shriekapova and Bansheerenka, on the other hand, have grunted their whole lives...
Serena, Maria, Vika, and Angie better return to top flight again, only players that really provide any consistency. The you have the other ones like Halep, Barty, Woz, Kvitova who show consistency by fade sometimes throughout the season. I only started watching tennis in 2015 so I missed out on a lot of the rivalries so Serena vs Kerber is what I lived off, and I am a fan of Maria since 2012 even though I hardly watched tennis until 2015, then ofcourse I have only gotten 2 full seasons from her and they 2017/18 weren’t even full seasons anyway, pampered with injuries and the the ban. Only if I was born 5 years earlier haha
I think Svitolina is gonna win this because she didn't do well in the year-end season like Wozniacki last year, where she didn't do well in the year-end season but won the WTA finals and surprised everybody.
For comments about grunt. That's why I said Sharapova is more natural because she grunts since forever and not only in certain points or moment. Same with Niculescu (well her grunt sounds quite unique) or several girls on tour who actually grunt naturally. Look at Halep, Muguruza, Svitolina, Mladenovic, ain't natural grunter.
@ursaring but Osaka lost two matches and she is not out.does Osaka have to win in straight sets and Kerber lose to Stephens in straight sets for Osaka to play in the semi-finals?
I fear if Osaka wins in straight sets, Stephens will lose in straight sets to put her at number 2 and Kerber at number 1, so she would face Svitolina and let Kerber handle Pliskova and have a final rematch with Kerber - so cos of that I hope Bertens wins so Sloane has to win or else she's out, so she won't be just throwing the match
however, after writing that, Sloane did lose to Pliskova this year easily on clay, but has won easily 2 matches in the past against Karolina on hard and grass. But it would be good to see Sloane and Kerber play knowing the winner gets through rather than it already being decided. Also, Osaka had her chance against Kerber and choked
@@cambed71 yes, i was at that match, court being slower might keep elina in it, but sloanes movement is as good and her power is better, elinas a bit more consistent, imo though, should b good
So glad Pusniacki is out. Horrible style of play, bratty behaviour and uber complainer. Pushniacki represents everything wrong with women's tennis today. High ranking bt lacking in slam wins(vice versa), pusher style of play and just general inconsistency.
